Spuffy/Bangel Combat Fatigue

During the last few weeks, with all of the controversy about Twilight's true identity being revealed, and the resultant discussions, debates, and (for the most part friendly) arguments over the Bangel/Spuffy question, I have finally come to a, to me at least, rather surprising realization. I just plain don't care anymore. We've given and countered every reason for and against our favorite 'ship in a dozen different threads, we've speculated, predicted, wished, and dreaded just about every variation on the final conclusion of Season 8 and how it will affect the Buffyverse in general and Buffy in particular, and I have simply burnt out on the entire issue. Angel can have her. Spike can have her. Xander can have her. Faith. Satsu. Willow. Hell, Giles can have her. For right now, I just plain don't care anymore.

Maybe something will re-light my Spuffy fire at some point, maybe in a week, or a month. But for right now, the fight's just gonna have to go on without me. I'll still be around, and I'm sure that I'll offer my two cents' worth on other matters, but for the next few days at least, I'm on vacation from the war. Y'all have fun. (And anyone who cares to join me, maybe we can get up enough people for a decent poker game. No kittens please)

I planned to wait and do everything the same till I know what exactly happened to Buffy person in next issue. But it's too much. I lost my love for her already. I don't know her anymore. I'll just feel weird about her like this for one full month, then we'll see again. It can be either "I love her again" or "I won't care about her anymore".

I so agree. I'm, like, completely ready to just ditch Buffy-shipping altogether. (Lol guys, this is foreshadowing of my next switcheroo! 😀 ) Seriously, Spangel needs to happen instead. Or Dangel. Or sprusilla. Or Spaith. Or ANYTHING really.

Who cares anymore? (Yes, we have to wait until the comic is done to make judgments, but honestly, I've felt like I don't know Buffy at all for more or less the whole season. :/ )

And it's seriously, seriously annoying to me because I only JUST started loving Buffy in S7. Loving her in S7 made me love her in the earlier seasons, despite how annoying I found her. Now, after making her into a beautiful woman, they're going to ruin her character again??! *Sighs* Really, it's hard to care nowadays. She should end up alone.

I'm right there with youWA. It was years and years ago since I was a "true" Bangel fan, then I got more into Spuffy a few years later but now I've just stopped caring. It's kinda boring to discuss.

I've never cared that much about Buffy as a character anyway, but I wanted to say who she should be with, but it's been months since I trully cared. I can muster up a opinion if needed, but it has no spark.

It's not like she's likely to end up with either one anyway. The Spuffy/Bangel thing is old, and I doubt Btvs will center around either ship again. There are other stories to be told. Maybe one day, when Joss is 90% sure that he's done with telling Buffy's story, he'll decide she's going on a date with either guy, or he simply shows that Buffy is thinking about choosing between one of them and then the credits roll, figuratively speaking.

It's not even a case that I don't care anymore but I feel that we have talked this to DEATH so many times that I'm ruining my own enjoyment of my ship and quite frankly that is the last thing I want. So I will happily step down from the arguements and just enjoy my ship rather than spend that majority of my time defending it.

So, I'm officially on a shipping vacation!

It's easy to avoid them on LJ though because you control your flist and thus what you will be seeing.

Shipping wars suck the soul out of every ship and every poster so I'm going to channel Father Ted and say "Careful now." and "Down with that sort of thing!"

😀 No I did not mean you ship wars. I just wanted you to know that nobody was saying that you should stop shipping Bangel. The same goes for people who ship Spuffy. They were just saying that they are tired of this debate, or "war" between ships. We need to take a break from it. It won't take away from our passion for the couple and I know you are passionate about Bangel so I did not want you thinking that anybody was asking you to tone down the passion.

No I kid I kid, I couldn't agree more, I need a vacation from shipping for awhile, I usually take a break, I hadn't had a good shipper war in ages so the last while was fun, but Im tired and need sleep.

Im gonna head for that Willow thread next haven't popped in there yet!

Y'all just remember, I'm in no way proposing any sort of surrender, no badly how battered and beaten we have the Bangels at the moment. I'm just proposing a temporary cease fire so that we can all rest and come back with renewed spirits later.

I agree, WA. I think I should take a break, too. I'll always love Spuffy no doubt, but that's why I decided to 'ship Bangel for a month in part - just to take a break from constantly having to defend Spuffy.

It can get tiring after a while. What with everything that has been going on in S8 lately, I feel like my spirit for the fandom in general is kind of been through the wringer. I'm just...upset and tired and confused and upset.

I think a break is a great idea.

I like the idea of having a 'ships only forum for Spuffy, too.
