Spuffy Fic Recs

I went through all the linkies and I had read a few of them already. A while ago. And they were all great. 🙂

The two I hadn't read yet were Closer to Midnight and Imitation of a Man. I really enjoyed both of them. Thanks guys!

You're a fast reader! Imitation of a Man was like... 300,000 words long, right?

Glad you enjoyed Closer to Midnight (my fic, lol). That was my favourite to write. 🙂

Okay, here I am with the all-human William recs. Not including links because of the ratings, but they'll be in all the usual places.

Yeah, I read like a maniac freak. I also had to pull a 16 hour shift at a deskjob this weekend. *dies

I read your other story and it was lovely. I totally thought Doctor Who in the second chapter and I was thinking I'd be terrified too if I was William and I had the Weeping Angels coming after me. 😛 Then at the end you credited the Moff and I giggled. My husband looked at me like I was slightly crazy. He usually does when I giggle at my computer. It's not THAT odd is it?

I haven't gotten to read any of the other recs yet because I got distracted by one called:

Even in the Real World by flibble.

Thought I'd mention for peeps since I really enjoyed it. It's a Human AU but it's based on if Buffy had really killed everyone at the end of Normal Again and ended up waking up in LA being all non slayery and you know . . . normal. If that makes sense. Didn't link because of the rating.
 
I've been really into all-human/au fics lately. Anyone have any good recs for that genre? I have Closer to Midnight bookmarked by the way, xaph! 😉

Oh, and if anyone's interested, Dampersandspoons finished her fic At Your Service! You can find it on Elysian Fields. It's a really good AU fic with a very gripping plot. 🙂

LOL - I just started reading all of Ariane's works again - I had the good fortune to discover this writer when I first started reading FF - If this is your first reading of Ariane's works you are in for a great treat - but some sad news about this writer - struggling against cancer -
 
Hey, guys, right now I'm in the mood for your favorite S7 and S8 Spuffy fics. I heard that Seasonal Spuffy this year has a lot of Post-S8 fics, I'd love to read the best. I'm pretty much in a Spuffy mood right now. 😀

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the fic. Flibble's fic is a good one. If you like that sort of story, Slaymesoftly has a good fic called Normal is Just a Word - it's posted at Spuffy Realm.

I love all-human fics. Try Addie Logan if you haven't already, and of course there's the incomparable Nautibitz. Kantayra has one of my very favourite AH fics - Blue Horizons. You've mentioned Dampers so you've probably read all of hers... she just posted the last chapter to College is Awesome! this week, too. Sotia (Ssddgr on some archives & LJ) writes great AH fics too.

Honestly I'd recommend just browsing the AH section at Elysian Fields, or heading over to Sweet Temptation (an entirely all-human archive). Nocturnal Light has a lot of great AH fics posted, too. For older fics you could have a look at Sinister Attraction. Brat has a lot of good all-human fics.

I have a lot of all-human fics bookmarked on my Delicious page, but I can't link because of the ratings. If you want the link I'll PM you.

I was thinking all day, trying to compile a list of good list, and I understood that the majority of fics I love are post-seasonal. There are tons of great post-Chosen stories.

All human is an AU genre where all the characters are human. Spike's not a vampire, Buffy's not a Slayer, Willow's not a witch etc. etc. The supernatural element present in the show is taken out.

Babyfic is just what it sounds like really... fic where the characters have babies.

Thanks! I guessed wrong on all-human, just thought it referred to Spike not being a vampire, but I guessed right about babyfic.

I've not strayed much out of Giles-centered fic, but there is some great stuff out there and the recs in this thread look interesting.

We're incredibly lucky in the Buffy/Spuffy fandom to have such an amazing wealth of well-written fanfic out there. Before I came to BtVS I was into the Harry Potter fandom and finding good, long, well-written fic there was a bit hit and miss.

That was my experience, too - I'm a huge fan of the show 24, but the fanfic was largely wretched. It took me a long time to even venture into BtVS fanfic because of that experience.
 
I know I've mentioned this already...but I'm still reading "Hearts Breaking Even" by Slaymesofty and it's SO GOOD. SO SO GOOD. Seriously.

Read it for God's sake.

I was going to mention that site (allaboutspike.com)...I love it! But it's not strictly all spuffy it's what its name says, all about spike and his various relationship... the spander stuff is really cool, sosa lola, you might like an AU story about spike and xander meeting when xander's possessed by the hyena spirit...Predatory Acts by Jane Davitt

Oh, since I'm not sure how old you are I should give a disclaimer that that story is NC 17
 
Alright. Ages ago I read a fic that was basically an episode re-write of "Where the Wild Things Are." Only it was Spuffy. And they were both stuck in that room being . . batteries for the supernatural activity. . . yeah.

Anyway. I really dug it and now I can't find it anywhere! *is filled with sadness.

So if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about . . . let me know. haha
