Spuffy Fic Recs

Alright. Ages ago I read a fic that was basically an episode re-write of "Where the Wild Things Are." Only it was Spuffy. And they were both stuck in that room being . . batteries for the supernatural activity. . . yeah.

Anyway. I really dug it and now I can't find it anywhere! *is filled with sadness.

So if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about . . . let me know. haha

I'm pretty sure I found it in less than a minute by googling this:

Looks like "Wild Things" by "Naughtibitz." I can't link to it because it's adult-only. Hope that's it!

I'm glad I could help! I only know how good Google is in finding fan fic because I've been searching for certain Giles-centered fics when I read about them but the link is broken. I've been very successful finding what I want.

Oh I've found it! It was one of Holly's that she has taken down off the net.

I can ask her for a copy though. yay!

Yay, I'm glad you found it! That one I found sure sounded like what you described - maybe it was a popular meme for Spuffy fic.

In two months we'll find out what happens next - and, so far, the situation begs for a fanfic. Gryfndor_Godess writes vintage Buffy -- funny, poignant, a bit obnoxious in her possessiveness yet incredibly touching and sweet in her insecurities.

She'd kicked his butt, taken the Gem and sent it off to Angel. Buffy thought she'd seen the last of Spike. Clearly, she'd been too optimistic. That he was in her house, in her room, waking her out of a sound sleep and asking for (okay, demanding) her help meant that something had to be majorly wrong. They weren't due for another apocalypse, but...why else would a vampire make a truce with the Slayer?

I'm not too sure if this has been recc'ed already in this thread, but oh well... if it has, it deserves to be recommended again. It's a WIP but I think KnifeEdge updates pretty regularly. It's a really great read and what I'm really enjoying about it is that it removes pretty much everyone else from the picture and leaves Buffy and Spike to rely on each other, and only each other. Great fic.

Oh, I enjoy "Dust" enormously. Currently, there are two WIPs I follow - "Dust" and "Embers" by Coalitiongirl. Both are outstanding. There was a third one, "Green Card Verse" (PG-13) by Brutti Ma Buoni, but she has finished the second season and announced a temporary hiatus.

I follow another WIP, "The Girl With Flaxen Hair" (PG-13)by Unbridled_B. But she updates very rarely. So far, she has posted 13 chapters. It takes place in an alternate universe, where vampires don't exist. In 1880 William Pratt whose mother died recently meets a strange girl, Buffy Summers. She rides to his estate by horse, spends an evening with him and then she has to go back... where?

Buffy is a waitress in a gay coffeshop, and Spike is a dashing captain of a space ship... and it's not an alternate universe. It's a current canon, after season 8, and the story deals with the consequences of its outcome. Slayers are in disgrace; somebody or something attacks and kills them - and nobody knows if it's a virus, a spell or a demon. Meanwhile Buffy and Spike have tons of issues to overcome - y'know, as usual. Complex Spuffy dynamics and twisty narrative perfectly complement each other in this epic action-adventure with strong romantic arc. Is there a term "next-chapter-clicker"?

I've been saving that to read until it was finished. Now I have a nice long fic to get stuck into. 🙂

What's everyone's favourite type of fic?

It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I like some angsty angst and sometimes I need some fluff.

I think I read more of the fluffy variety though. When I'm in a fluffy mood I usually go through all Holly's fics until I find one that I haven't read in ages and pick one. They usually make my day better. Since a lot of them have long plots and fluffyness and humor.

Lately though, totally all about the William fics. He's such a cutie! Since he's a big book nerd. Book nerds are HOT! Of course, I only think so because I am one. 😀

So I guess my favorites are fluffy ones and nerdy William ones. One that has both of those things is pretty much made of win!

And! I actually just finished a long fic and I'm tired beyond belief. But I had to finish the story! And sleep is for the weak! So I may not be all that coherent. . . 😀

To me, the closer to canon, the better. I adore seasonal rewrites, when a writer changes only one detail in the premise and then follows all the canonical events with a twist, due to a new factor. Right now I enjoy Brutti_ma_buoni's "Green-card-verse" based on the assumption that Buffy did marry Spike in "Something Blue" - and everything that happened in later seasons, still happened, but slightly differently.

I think that "Dust" attracts me so much because Knifeedge follows canonical Spuffy route in a different circumstances. She even managed to include "Scoobies disapproval" twist - although all Scoobies are in a magic sleep.

One of the best seasonal rewrites, to me, is Kallysten's "Sweeter" (it's a permanent WIP; also, it's NC-17, and you have to join kallyfic LJ community to read it), based on the idea that in season 2 Spike arrived to Sunnydale without Dru and Angel accepted him and grudgingly agreed to let him live in his flat. It's a great story, and I adore it.

I enjoy Time Travel fics, even though some of them are really bad, but they're totally my guilt pleasure, especially those where characters go back in time to fix things.

I'm like Moscow, too, I love when fics are closer to canon and seasonal rewrites are awesome!

I think what I like most is the playing with the characters and relationships...getting a deeper look...it's like I'm getting to know them better

I guess that's the whole point of fan-fic though huh?

Great idea, Amy! My favorite types are Canon, probobly. I especially like post series-fics. I've read some AH I liked, but only if it is not too fluffy.
And time travel fics are always cool.

Lets have a fic book club! Who else is reading Embers other than Amy and I? We could discuss the story as we read it, and make up discussion questions. Who's game?

My favorites are set post Buffy/Angel. My absolute favorites so far are "Home is where they have to let you in," "Things that go bump in the night" and "Prior Claims," but there are so many good ones out there. I think I've read through at least 20 in the last few weeks. Spuff just has so much good stuff to work with.

I would love to have discussions on them.

Me! Geez Louise, you guys...I have to say, I haven't read much fanfiction but I've been reading Embers and it is just so freaking brilliant. Let's definitely have a book club!
