Spuffy pros?

granted i am only half way through s10, i am a sucker for spoilers and i follow a lot of the reviews and summaries for later issues, as well as everyone's comments. sooo, i see a lot of 'evidence' that speaks of the doom that awaits spuffy (the immortals conversation with angel, steve morris being told to show discourse between the two on a cover, or the fact that they always seem to be caught in a test with their pasts(satsu, dylan, angel..)), but what i wanna know is there any evidence that spuffy may actually overcome all of this?

looking for hope for spuffy love, but mostly because with how close spike and buffy were by s7, i am disappointed in thinking they could end after half a season. even reilly had more than that...
 
No matter how hopeful and happy things look for Buffy and Spike right now, past experience tells us that Joss Whedon, evil, self serving troll that he is, utterly despises the term "happily ever after," and he takes sadistic pleasure, not only in pulling the wings off of butterflies, but also in giving the fans, in this case the Spuffy shippers, a brief taste of what happiness COULD be, then utterly destroying it. From the moment that Buffy first said, "I'd like to give us a second chance," (or whatever she actually said) it was a foregone conclusion that disaster will be forthcoming.
 
I believe that both have been facing several issues that are making them questioning themselves and what they really want from life; some of these issues are about the relationship itself - like how they deal with the AR - and about how they perceive each other, what they expect from each other, how they have to be honest with each other.

Like right now, Buffy is back to her naive dream about having a normal life, even almost desesperatelly pushing the idea to Dawn (#23), who is studying with friends at home, like any "normal" girl of her age - boy, is Buffy in for a surprise, again - and that's one more thing that she will have to figure out to make things with Spike work.

Spike may have his own concerns, not so much about the relationship, but what he wants from it maybe; Harmony and Dylan may have indeed push some buttons, and he has some things to figure out to keep the relationship healthy.

But after all this wakeup calls, their cards still haven't been put on the table.

Concerning outsiders's opinions, like the one given by Angel: Christopher Gage said that it was just Angel's opinion, and not a thing written in stone, that he himself doesn't think that a relationship with an immortal is faded to fail.

But, as @white avenger wisely pointed out, this is a Joss Whedon production, and he really has a problem with happy endings (see Xander and Dawn too)... if he hasn't changed after so many years, he may have said to Gage "put those 2 together but you will break them up!!!", which is more probable. And then, the immortals are the ones who don't change... 🙄

Seems to be that Spike has just 'attained' the unobtainable Buffy and now is shocked that he isn't blissfully content...
That's what happens when you put somebody on a pedastal so much so that they 'glow' in your eyes when you look at them (as Buffy found out when she was in Spike's mind).
That sort of worship (and the one-sided nature that has always been this 'ships hallmark) in a relationship is neither healthy nor interesting.
So it seems that, after everything Buffy's put aside to try and make something work- making that risky first move, getting over the things she saw in Spike's mind, the AR issues finally being addressed in-verse- and for the first time in a while pursuing someone as well as being pursued, she's gonna get dumped.

At least then we'll have a pattern- Angel, Parker, Riley, Spike- it doesn't matter what she does they all leave her in the end, just a question of when.

Just for the record, I don't think that either Buffy or Spike will be the one who will make the decision to break up. It will almost certainly be because of something or someone else, either by accident or malicious;y. I'm not saying that Angel would do, or even consider doing anything to jeopardize Buffy's happiness, and I don't think that any of her other friends would do it, either. That's another Whedon trait. It's always some outside circumstance that causes the split up, so there won't be any "friend" to accuse, and it probably won't be something that will happen this Season, especially since there are only a couple more issues left, or even in Season 11, assuming that there will, indeed, be a Season 11. All of the previous Whedonverse relationships have gone through multiple Seasons, and I don't think that this one will be any different.

What I do think will be unique, this time around, is that the split up will be made all the worse by the fact that, almost certainly, with his sense of loyalty, Spike, unlike either Angel or Riley, won't simply leave. Call it noble or pathetic, Spike is the guy who will always be there. He's been a part of Buffy's life, in one capacity or another, since Season 2, and I don't see that as being something that will change., barring some event of truly catastrophic proportions, such as what happened after Season 7.
 
i like that cg emphasized that the immortals conversation was just angel's opinion, especially since other threads thoroughly analyze how spike has in fact changed.

and since cg is also the king of explanations considering his writing this season, i noticed the one thing that isnt explained- buffy's feelings for spike. i feel like we've heard everyone else's opinion except her's, which i guess is better- but im still confused on which way buffy is leaning.

even if the relationship has an impending doom date, itd be nice to see buffy fall hard for someone again, but this time in a real way. my issue with the bangel ship was there wasnt development for the falling in love, it was a lust at first sight situation, then a claim of deep rooted love. its not believable just bc they were the pretty two of the cast... even as much of a spuffy shipper that i am, i wont even say she fell hard for spike even during season 7 because she wouldnt let herself. by the time she started allowing herself to feel that way, he was literally burning in flames. i think upon realizing he was alive, she retracted those feelings so she could feel at her own pace vs forcing an epiphony due to an apocalyptic tragedy. at least thats how im explaining her dismissive attitude for him in season 8.

i love the point of spike not leaving, and i hope there is truth in that, but it would be more interesting if the relationship was stronger. we've never seen buffy having to deal with an ex that wont leave before, everytime angel appeared, we knew it was temporary and so did they, so they made the most of what they could in not making angel happy. they didnt act like exes.
 
Firstly, I just found out that Spike and Buffy are back together, and it makes me so unbelievely happy I don't even know where to begin. I thought it was a joke...it just doesnt't seem real to me.

I knew they'd get back together someday.

That said, I have not read any of season 10, so my opinion is based entirely on what others have said.

Do I believe Spike and Buffy can overcome anthting? Yes, absolutely. Do I believe Joss will let them? No. We all know Joss loves to ruin romance, and he never lets a couple stay happy for long.

What do the Bangels think of what's going on with Spuffy these days?

It has been quite a ride! Beautiful and sweet moments between the two of them. Well, I like the comics (not just S10 and Spuffy), so I'm glad that it finally happened. I hope you like it.

I went out and got all of season ten issues and now I am catching up. My little fan girl heart never thought I'd see the day...
