Spuffy - Selfish Love?

I think you and I are trying to both expires the same concept, just in different words. I just associate negative connotations with that phrase "change yourself." And that's probably just me being weird.

I want you to know I don't think spike is 100% selfish, and I do like him as a character. I think season 7 spuffy is the best spuffy gets. I just can't endorse a relationship based on that much hurt and pain, which was caused in many ways by the selfish actions of both buffy and spike.

That's fine. To each their own. :) For me, the good in their relationship outweighs the bad and very ugly.
Of course it was selfish and abusive... up until the start of S7. But then again, so was Buffy/Bad Hair Dude, all the time. The reason why I ship Spuffy is becausethey managed to outgrow the "selfish, banal obsession" stage and become actual love - a development/evolution/maturation I sure don't see in that other ship.

Spuffy holds extenuating circumstances in season 6. She was recovering from death trauma. He didn't have a soul. It's all good though in season 7.

Also, did everyone forget about Spike taking a beating from Glory JUST because he refused to give up that Dawn was the key, because it would destroy Buffy if anything happened to her?
