hey everyone this is where Spuffy shippers can come and talk
and discuss Spuffy's relationship so let's start with the first issue:

Are you a spuffy shipper? and why?

anyone on theis board can tell you that i am one of the biggest Spuffy shipper! the chemistery between Spike and Buffy is just so amazing compared to Bangel.

Well, you all know where I belong! Definiely in the Spuffy Club!

I was a fan from the get go. I always loved their chemistry during season two and four. And then, I could tell something was going to happen in season five.

You can guess how happy I was during season six! Who-hoo!

I like their relationship because it's real.

While I do love the Spike/Buffy relationship above all others, I'm really only a Spuffy shipper by default.

To be honest, I'm really an antibascist.

You can only read about "4eva luv" so many times, before you have to pick a side!

i agree with SpikedBuffy. Buffy and Spike seemed more real to me than Buffy/Angel or Buffy/Riley. with those other two ships, they seemed to just jump right in at the deep end. Buffy mentions in 'Angel' that she's in love with Angel after having only known him a few weeks and kissing him for the first time the night before. i'm relly convinced that Bangel was too immature to last, at least on Buffy's part. she was 16 years old, and not emotionally mature enough for a proper relationship.
Briley, on the other hand, was more of a rebound thing and i knew it wouldn't last for more than a season.
Spuffy, however, had the time to mature. sure, they started out as enemies, but their relationship grew over the course of those first three years, giving Spike the time to realize how special Buffy was, and to truely fall in love with her. their relationship in S6 was a little selfish on Buffy's part. she was using him to make her feel something. but she realized how much she was hurting Spike by not loving him like he loved her, and so she ended it to stop them both hurting anymore.
by the time S7 came, Buffy found out how much Spike had gone through to show how much he loved her, and she explained to him in the ep 'First Date' that she needed him, by saying 'I'm not ready for you to not be here' showing that her feelings for him had changed dramatically since S2. by the time the series finale came, Buffy had realized herself that Spike was man she could imagine herself being with, and she turned down Angel (wasn't i jumping up and down when that happened!)
i still believe Buffy's last words to Spike were the truth, even though she didn't correct him when he told her she didn't. Spike told her to get out, to live the life she had always wanted, and by staying there to correct him, Buffy may well have died, and never get to live out Spike dying wish for her!

I agree with Lyri. I was gonna give her some karma for her post but I need to spread it around. The reason I like Spuffy is because it was more realistic to me than Bangel. Like Lyri said, Buffy barely even knew Angel and she was already in love with him?? That sounds like a little school girl crush to me. Although, I'm not denying the fact that they were in love from season 2 on. Unlike Bangel, we saw Spuffy evolve from nothing. They were mortal enemies and then they fell in love. Which is also why I love Cangel too. Cordy and Angel were barely friends on Buffy but then they got really close and fell in love.

so now i have a question, what was your favourite Spuffy moments during the series?

I'm not a Spuffy shipper but I still think the two of them had some great moments.

My personal fave was when Spike says to her, "I saved you every single night" ....when she comes back in Season 6.

It really broke my heart.

S6 holds most of my fave Spuffy moments...the one Kimm mentions above ranks as one of my top 5, as does the last scene in Tebula Rasa (that one probably gets the top spot) and the scene in Touched, when Buffy asks Spike to 'just hold me' and they spend the night in each others arms.
i could go on all day, but i don't wanna hog the thread! 😉

I'm not a spuffy shipper, but certain scenes between the two of them were really touching.

I do agree though, Spuffy was more mature than Bangel.

w00t...Spuffy thread! Definitely my favorite couple on both the Buffy and Angels shows...when I started watching in season 4 i immediately became a spuffy shipper...and as there relationship changed through seasons 5 and six and even 7 I only liked the ship more. I don't hate Bangel, but I think that relationship was such a "high school teenage romance" the Spike/Buffy relationship was much more mature. SO w00t for Spuffy!

ok, then. let's talk about the moment you all think Spike fell in love with Buffy.
i mean, we know when he realized it, but when do you think it actually happened?
for me, i think it's some point at the end of S4. like when he decided to help them against all of the demons in the Initiative. i think that's when it started.

I've never really thought about it.

I guess I always thought he was just obsessed by her. If he couldn't defeat her in combat, he'd conquer her some other way.

Her kindness at the end of Intervention probably helped to turn his obsession into real love.

And to answer Lyris question I think there was always something there when he first met her...not love by any means but not your typical Vampire who wants to kill Slayer obsession...but I think he really fell in love with her more into season five then when it seemed he noticed he did. I think when he had a dream about her he first realized the lust he had for her...but i think it evolved into love from there...

Well there was always some type of connection between them, ever since they met. At first it was just the fight, and then more.

Hmm, the moment where Spike fell in love with Buffy? I know that he had developed a liking towards her from end of season four. As seen in his dream sequence, where they started kissing. But I'm torn over when he actually fell in love with her. I've got two theories:
1. End of Fool For Love, when he was going over to shoot her. To which he sees her crying, and immediately sits down with her, comforting her. I think seeing her actually vulnerable and with her guard down really made a different impression on him
2. End of season five... when she kisses him for protecting Dawn, and asking him to protect her during the battle with Glory. Realizing that she treats him like a man.

I'm not sure. One of those two.

Okay so I don't hate Spuffy but I don't love it either. As y'all should know by now unless you're missing my subtle hints I'ma huge bangel shipper. Although I am very fond of Spuffy I think they worked well together I think buffy really cared for spike. And I think Spike really loved Buffy. So kudos to you guys for following a truly good ship! (not as good as Bangel though!) (sorry couldn't resist)
