But the Buffy and Angel reunion is not 'their moment'. It is not a beautiful private moment that the two of them are shareing as Bangel - it is very public and one (Buffy) or both of them seem to be under some sort of outside influence and Twangel is telling her lies. This is not a good thing. Everything about the scene seems to subvert the romance of Bangel. So yeah, I still think it would be awesome if Spike could show up sooner rather than later.

Plus I can't help but notice that now Buffy and Angel have got 'glowing' and what is another word for glowing - Effulgent (and that was always our schtick), and also, the blurb for the next issue says 'buildings fall" as a result of Buffy and Angel doing the do. Didn't Spuffy already do that too? So, on top of everything that has happened to Angel, its also kinda pissing me off that they are usurping our team's mythology.
 
I'm ignoring it all. I don't like the comics, they're not my canon. Yeah, I know, this view is looked down on in fandom. But I don't care. I've been staying out of the comics threads but I've assimilated the information of what happened from LJ. Now I'm just trying to ignore it all, but it's difficult.

My canon ended in AtS S5, I don't consider anything after that to have actually happened. The diehard comics fans will probably yell at me for that, but it's a pretty common viewpoint on the Spuffy side of things. Oh well.

Ditto! No comics for me. Unless there's a Spuffy HEA, then I'll read them once I find out. Til then, ignore.

No Spike and Buffy cover is planned 🙁

When asked if there will be "a Spike/Buffy cover in the future"

Scott Allie replied "We haven't decided on the last few covers, but so far we don't exactly have a Spike/Buffy cover. I swear to the Powers that Be, that is not my fault"”Joss is spec'ing all the covers for his arc."

So by the use of the word 'exactly' I'm guessing he'll be part of a group or something like that, maybe?

and a second spuffy-centric question:

. . . . You have in the past given small pieces of hope for Angel fans (telling them to see it through). Is there any hope for Spike,Buffy,Spuffy fans at the end of the tunnel? Or should we just brace ourselves for a twisted bangel lovefest.

Scott Allie replied "I can't fully answer that without spoiling, but first I'd have to know what hope means to you. If your hope is that Joss comes out and says that Buffy and Spike are the key relationship, that Spike is more important to Buffy than Angel, then probably you'll be disappointed, because I don't think Joss writes in those terms. If on the other hand all you want is that the relationship between Buffy and Spike gets treated with respect, then yes, there is hope."

What do we make of that? backhanded compliment or satisfactory response. Speaking for myself, I think I could be content with respect - I never expected a declaration of 'superiority' for my ship (equality maybe, but never superiority) so I remain sort-of optomistic and happy-ish that it seems to be certain that Joss will be guiding Spike's return to the story. But is there any way a last minute appearance of Spike can be satisfactory? I don't want him to appear to 'rescue the girl' in a traditional sense. i want Buffy to do that herself. Is there any way he could be important to this story from the outset? I mean, Angel has been there from the beginning (albeit wearing a mask and costume, which,excuse me, seems like a totally un-angel thing for him to do!) so his inclusion in the story makes sense (sort of, well not really, but anyway). But can the same be done for Spike? because if it's not, then maybe its better that he's not in the comic afterall. . . But I want him to be . . . I'm so confused...
 
Regarding Spike's return to and role in Season 8, I just had an epiphany. He's been there all along, but he's been wearing a magical glamor in order to remain undetected. The hints have been there all along:the slender physique, the quiet dignity, the astute observations, even Buffy and Dawn's instinctive attraction to someone who they never have actually felt such feelings before. The final clue was an almost exact repeat of the "No, you don't..." speech.. He's been there throughout the entire season, wearing a truly diabolical glamor that not only conceal his physical features, but also protects him from sunlight and gives him access to all of the memories and mannerisms of his disguise. As I said, Spike has been there all along, and we just haven't known it. IT'S XANDER THAT ISN'T THERE!!! He was kidnapped even before Season 8 began (remember the year that he spent with Dracula? Pure smoke and mirrors, with Dracula playing along in order to settle an old debt) by Amy, who altered his memories and concealed his real features.

Spike is disguised as Xander, and Xander is disguised as Warren. The real clue was the fact that there was no way that Amy could have possibly arrived in time to save Warren. She made it all up.

Spike has been disguised as Xander all along, and Xander has been both disguised as and actually believed that he was Warren.

(Either that, or I've gotta quit eating raspberry Zingers and beef sausage just before going to bed)

Hey guys, am I allowed to self-pimp a little bit? 😀

I posted the first chapter of a new fic last night, post-Chosen Spuffy.

In the days following the Hellmouth’s collapse, Buffy finds herself craving time alone. A series of apparently random decisions draw her to the coast of England, where she has to deal with the possibility that Spike might not be so dead after all.

It's posted at my livejournal, and at Elysian Fields and The Spuffy Realm. If you read, enjoy. 🙂 I've got several chapters written and ready to post, so updates will be frequent.

But surely that doesn't count for fic recs? What I linked to wasn't an article, it was a fanwork.

As I've said before, the comics mean nothing to me. I don't consider them to be my canon, ergo I don't care what happens in them, lol.

If Spike/Buffy happens in the comics, great. If it doesn't, oh well. I'll go on happily shipping them in fandom (with or without penguins!) as I've been doing so for the last couple of years.

I think so... I hope so. 😀

But, yeah, I don't really 'ship S8 Spuffy, or S8 ANYTHING really. S8 is a 'shipless season for me. 😀
 
I'm still interested in season 8 Spuffy (if such a thing exists). I am really really interested in finding out if Buffy knows that Spike is alive and seeing her reaction when he turns up. I'm not expecting them to 'end up together' though I certainly wouldn't object if they somehow did. What I'd like to see is a reaffirmation of the strength and depth of their relationship in season seven and for there to be an alternative to happily ever after with Twangel...
