Here's what it might be like to travel on a stand-up airplane seat

"Perched on a bicycle-like seat, my back's pushed upright and my legs just about fit in the space in front of me.

I'm testing out the newest version of Italian seat manufacturer Aviointeriors' infamous "standing seats, currently on display at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2019 (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany.

Usually, the only way for an airline to reach maximum capacity is outfitting their aircraft entirely with economy seats. The Skyrider takes up way less space than the average economy seat -- just 23 inches -- so the idea is airlines could cram in their economy seats, and still allow other passengers to book other kinds of tickets on the same flight."

If you build it, they still won't come.

It would be difficult to meet safety and egress requirements (90 seconds to get everyone off the plane in an emergency). It would be difficult to get me (or anyone else) to part with their money to take such a flight. Food service would be almost impossible. I would spend as much of the flight as possible on the toilet just to get a real seat. And as the low sales figures for the Airbus A380 have shown is that people don't want to ride in something that would be a juicy terrorist target.

I have no issue with this. They have been talked about for awhile. They aren't really standing. And at they position they are it would be a great way to prevent DVT which is a serious issue for those flying, and life threatening for some. I think it could be more comfortable actually.

Somewhat off topic,

stand up airplane seats have been around a few decades, but the only reason they are never spoken of is that they only occur on planes that go straight up. Although you are lying down you are in fact standing up on the plane. When you have a meal I don't recommend the soup nor does the person behind you.

I can see why they want to do it, but flights across Europe are cheap anyway. I would worry about take off and landing in those seats.
Plus more people equals more bags, and for short flights people tends to brings bags on board so where are they going to go?

This would be good for me. I have trouble sitting still at the best of times. Plus I have had blood clots. I wonder if it would affect air sickness rates? Especially if there was an interactive game on a screen in front of you or internet or something.

I like new ideas, even if they're not perfect. Air travel worries me more now, so distraction, is better than being locked in a seat.
