Star Trek Discovery

I've heard some people complain that "Discovery" looks too much like a Romulan ship, and I can see a similarity, but I still think that t looks pretty good. It'll be interesting to see whether this show is part of the original (or, real) Star Trek universe, or the new time line.

Or, have they said that this one will predate the time line split? I haven't seen a whole lot of specifics yet.

Really looking forward to this. Is the ship named Discovery? My first thought was how it reminded me of the original Enterprise

Not big enough of a fan to really want more Star Trek on TV. I enjoy some of the films and the original series. But don't think I will be watching this.

The original series is wonderful and still on tv today because people still love it. I really like The Next Generation, but DS9 didn't do anything for me, nor did Enterprise. But the best, next to the original series has to be Voyager, which had a great premise, interesting characters and some great episodes.

I have high hopes for Discovery, and I hope you'll give it a chance 🙂 Have faith in Bryan Fuller (looking forward to American Gods too)

I guess its because I can or leave ST generally. I enjoy it enough and really enjoy some of the films. But I'm not a big enough fan to get that excited about another TV reboot. I might still give it a watch. It won't be top of my list though.

Good, looking forward to it.
I've always liked Star Trek. It might not be brilliant but always good and solid.

My favorite Star Trek series so far is Voyager.

/SK

I used to be a big fan of TNG as a kid (because it was always on TV) but I've never seen the new Star Trek TV shows, I enjoy the new movies though. Is this set in the same universe as the movie series'? Is it supposed to be a companion piece?

I'm a little concerned about the CBS-ness of this show...

I don't know much about US channels, but even I was surprised it would be on CBS.

The only Star Trek show I've seen, other than the original series, was a few episodes of DS9. I thought it was ok, not bad. Star Trek has never been my thing though.

What's wrong with CBS? Is that like our equivalent of Channel 5?

Sort of. Certainly from the CBS channels on Sky over here there seem to very light weight soapy content. Although CBS does own the horror channel which I do love🙂
