DS9 is my absolute favourite, though I pretty much love all things Trek...despite a few less-than-brilliant eps in the later series...I think we can all find some real clunkers in the Voyager and Enterprise runs 😉 But DS9 was when Trek really grew up...proper adult story arcs and everything 🙂...and although Picard will always be my fave captain, Sisko gets huge Brownie points for being a grumpy sod 🙂

I have little exposure to Star Trek...in a sense. When I was growing up, my mom was always watching Star Trek. I kind of HATED it. I saw several episodes of TNG, DSN, and Voyager. Never enjoyed it.
However, now I wonder if I'd like it more. Recently I watched the first couple of episodes of TOS, and I found it very campy, and not really in a good way. I plan on watching some more of it though, and trying out some of the later shows. Now that I'm older I might appreciate em more.
However, I'm VERY excited for the new movie. The trailer looks EXCELLENT. If it's as good as it looks, I am sort of hoping one of the networks convinces JJ to do a new series, because I'd definitely watch it.

I was a bit of a latecomer to Trek compared to the hardcore geeks in my class; I really discovered TNG around the time when late S2/early S3 first aired here, before that I had only once or twice zapped into a rerun of TOS or one of the bad, early eps of TNG's S1 (I definitely remember seeing the first appearance of the Ferengi - fur-clad, monkeyishly bumbling around and making stupid noises - when the show premiered, and finding it utterly ridiculous then).
From when I did catch on, however, it was and remained definitely TNG for me... absolute Data lover here, and Picard simply is The Captain. (I wanted to slap a guy hard who said about a year ago that "the captain" was doing WoW-commercials now. No he didn't, the guy with the toupet does WoW commercials, The Captain did Pontiac in the late 80s. 😀 ) And knowing my fetish, it will come as a surprise to no one how big a crush (no pun intended) I had on Beverly. Great looks and always the conscience of the crew.... only bad thing I ever have to say about her is that she's the mother of that one. 😉
I still got all of TNG and DS9 on taped-from-TV VHS lying around here... DS9 had great times in its run, but it also had periods when it just was just WTF. (Two words: Vic Fontaine.) Odo, Quark and both Daxes rocked, of course, and O'Brien - who had been great on the Enterprise already - finally got enough screen time to shine.
I also watched every ep of TOS (except "Patterns of Force" - still to this day never shown on German TV), but coming to that series after TNG I found it sort of meh (except for Spock and Scotty, of course... but I could so have done without Shatnerkirk.) The horrid German dub of course didn't help either... back in the 70s, it was in many ways even worse than today, hard as it is to imagine.
Now Voyager... I was excited when it started, had been looking forward to it very much, esp. since my beloved TNG had just ended. Sadly, I was disappointed; while the Doc and Seven were great (yep, that's my ship 😉 ) and, within limits, Tuvok was interesting too, the rest of the cast just didn't do it for me. (Actually, when Caretaker first aired here, full page magazine ads showed a grinning Neelix saying "I'm better than Kirk, Picard and Co." Erm, yeah, right. Hop along now.) I still taped it until S4 or so, more out of stubbornness than for really liking it. XD
About Enterprise, the less said the better. I tried to watch it and made it through three eps or so. In comparison, Voyager was still brilliant. 😉
Now the movies... I'm a staunch supporter of the even-odd rule, lol. My clear favorite is First Contact, the utter stinker is Final Frontier - which sucks even more than the non-prescription alternative to a sleeping pill that is The Motion Picture. The best of the "odds" (Generations, Insurrection) still rank below the worst of the "evens" (Nemesis).

I voted TNG. Simply because, for some reason, it accompanies the best memories of my early childhood. I remember watching the Best of Both Worlds episodes with my mum and sister with the sound down and my mother 'dubbing', like they were having conversations about upset tummies after eating too many cabbage. Because it was just too scary. They might not have had the best characters, I dunno, but to me, Star Trek = TNG. Simple as that.
Also, I've always crushed as hell on older men, and I think Picard might have been the first one ^^

I picked favorite the original. One of the main reason is while i loved it and TNS, i did not have any character that i did not like at all in the first one. I mean of main cast as i had some dislike concerning TNS choice. Q was my favorite being they delt with while i was not much of a fan of borgs. Romulans are my favorite alien culture.

I just watched 'Far beyond the Stars', the Deep Space Nine episode where Ben is back in the 50's as a writer.
Great episode in general but I was just shocked and surprised to hear the 'N' word.

I love voyager!!! 😀 I just finished watching the whole series again and i was bored when i finshed it.... so was looking through the list of other programs i could watch on the sight and that led me to watch Buffy! lol
My favorite characters were
The Doctor-Nothing but love for him!
Harry Kim-So cute and great/funny light episodes!
Seven of Nine (aka Annika Hansen)(and the borg in general!)-ACE!
B'Elanna Torres-Brilliant character develpoment!
Janeway-I did like her but sometimes i found her choices and love intrests?..anyone remember the episode..were Janewya and Tom Pari turned into lizards or something?!
I started watching When i was about 7 and i was totaly hocked! I love how the characters really did change and there was exciting fresh plots each week. When Seven of Nine was introduced i was so happy she really added an extra edge to the show and i loved her relationship with the doctor and how the grew to understand humans to a point.
I have seen the other star treks but none of them have really caught my eye and i have seen the movies but haven't really enjoyed them. I'm a one star trek kind of girl! lol

I would suggest you see this because its a new cast, a new time period (so you don't need to know anything about Trek) with a new team AND JJ Abrahms (whom I actually don't like - not liked anything he has done actually) who alot of people DO like so this could be a winner for you - just forget its Star Trek.

Apparently I voted on this back when the thread was made but never posted my thoughts. Perhaps I was in a hurry.
I first started watching TNG at a very young age. It was my first Trek. It used to be my favorite, but as I grew older, DS9 took that title. It just seems a lot more adult in some respects. It was possibly the first show I watched with long-running story archs. It was also much more of an ensemble than other Trek shows. They all are to an extent, but even the Captain on DS9 seemed like just one of the characters rather than an overwhelming influence on it. And there were so many great characters that weren't even regulars (Garak, Dukat, the female shapeshifter, etc.). And is it just me or did Worf fit in better on DS9 and become a better character than he ever was on TNG?
I liked Voyager, but not as much. As good a character as Seven of Nine was, it kind of felt like she became the entire show after awhile and I got sick of her. They used the Borg as a plot device so often (and every time, this tiny ship alone in the Delta Quadrant basically beat them) that they ceased being frightening. The Doctor was cool though.
Enterprise.......I tried to give this show a fair chance. Watched probably a fourth of the episodes they ended up making but it just never did anything for me. I think in their efforts to fix Trek, they actually ruined it a bit.

I watch LOST, but the more it becomes VERY science fiction, the more it bores me. I loved season 1 when everything could have been explained realistically. I would say it jumped the shark but apparently its the plan its always had!
