This Year's Girl agrees: Really? III is my least favourite. I wanted to scream of boredom, lol. Wait 'til you see the next one though. It's great!

Yeah I really loved it, it was beautiful! I always love when there is a psychological side. In the first, we had some interactions between Qui-Gon (is that correct? 😀) and Obiwan, but in the second, apart from some scenes between Anakin and Padmé, it was all dull and...soulless. That's it, the movie lacked soul, and soul is what matters in a movie! 😀

I wasn't disappointed with the third, it was really good, but I have to admit, I was impatient while waiting for Anakin to be definitely evil. So I enjoyed the movie but the 40 last minutes were absolutely waw, I'd even say breath-taken 😀 Seeing all the Jedi die (haha, that's funny to say, Jedi die), Anakin killing the younglings, Anakin fighting with Padmé, then fighting with Obiwan....That totally gave me the chills! :heart: :heart: :heart:

I agree with Mumrik...nothing can beat watching it as a kid for the first time. The epic-ness of it. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can compare to watching it in the order in which it originally was produced. Seeing scary Darth Vadar, then hearing him tell Luke "Luke, I'm your faaaather"... we were all freaked out about that! And how about finding out that Luke & Leia were really brother & sister, after all that unresolved sexual tension and the big triangle.

Has anybody watched the animated Clone Wars series? I really haven't, but I'm trying to convince my kids to watch it lol, so it gives this 41 year old mom an excuse to watch it as well. 🙂

I was watching Star Wars in the way you watched them, not by release date. I don't like the story line or the acting. I watched all six but I was bored to tears. I just don't see what people find so fasinating about them.

Growing up with the first Star Wars movies it just doesn't get any more classic for me. Compare the new ones with LOTR and LOTR win and it's not a fair fight. Comparing the old SW movies with LOTR isn't fair for me either since the impact SW hadd ruin any chance of me staying unbiased. For the same reason E.T. will be the greatest child movie ever in my mind. I love both Star Wars and LOTR. Just in different ways.

I can really understand you, although I love Star Wars. I think pretty much the same about Lord of the Rings.
I don't know... It's just not my thing.
I know a lot of people who love the Lord of the Rings movies, but I think watching them once is more than enough. Of course I don't want to offend any of you LotR fans.

I just don't see what people find so fasinating about them.

To tell the truth I don't know either.😱
I don't like Star Trek or any of that stuff.
But still... Star Wars seems different. I really don't know anything about Star Trek, but I never was interested in it.
Star Wars has the Jedi and all the different planets like Hoth, Tatooine or Yavin. That just attracts me.
Somehow it's different than the other space things.

(By the way, I haven't watched Firefly yet. But I will. And I hope I like it🙂)

I *finally* watched the very first Star Wars and...I really loved it!

It's in so many points much, much, better than the prequel. What I mostly dislike about the prequel is the overabundance of special effects and the plot. After watching a movie of a prequel, I was highly confused. I someone had asked what was the story about I would have said "Hum, well...it's about Padmé. And, er, there is also a baby Anakin and Obiwan Kenobi with a funny hairdo and a Jedi whose name I never grasped but whose death was sad. And then there was a fight scene. And then there was another fight scene. Then a guy with a red and black face came out of nowhere and chased the Jedi whose name I don't grasp. There was a race, Anakin is a special kid, Padmé is dressed up as a servant and huh yeah, that's about it". It was...watchable, but really, just don't ask me what was going on because I was completely lost. And there were way too many special effects! I don't know if you also have that, but I always see when green screen was used because there is always a slight contrast between the actor and the background, and a very tiny...halo around the actor. So it always bugged me.

Then, I watch A new hope, and then it's already over. What? Two hours just passed? The movie is already finished? Waw, I didn't count what time was left a single time.
The story is much more easy to follow (I'm tempted to say that the story is narrated, not thrown at you in a mix full of special effect to make the almost-mediocre look almost-good). I wasn't bothered at all by the special effects. I think in a way, they make everything look more realistic, less digital. The character are also more developed.
It was really great.

Tough, I must say, sometimes, seeing Darth Vader made me laugh a lot! (most of the time, actually). I know he's supposed to be scary and big evil, but I can't help it, he's funny in the way he moves and the way he talks (I don't why, I laughed when he said "I find your lack of faith disturbing")

Yeah, I really mwhahahaed very hard at his scenes (not because he killed Obi Wan, but because he fights funny).

That's what I like about older movies. No digital special effects (or not that much).

When you have some kind of monster in a movie it looks much, much more realistic if you use a puppet and not some virtual monster.
Of course digital effects can look pretty good, but only if you use them right.
In Jurassic Park for example they used dinosaur puppets for close shots and digital special effects for running dinosaurs or something like that.
This movie is nearly 20 years old! And compared to the digital special effects in Jurassic Park most special effects in today's movies suck.
