Starting Angel over again

I have the first season, i probably watched the first half. I couldnt get into it, but i think im going to give it a shot.

Problem is, when i first started watching, i was hoping for another buffy, but its completely different. so im going to approach it with an open mind this time!

hope i can get into it this time =]
 
I'm on season 3 of my Angel re-watch. I love Angel (the character and the series). But what has enhanced my enjoyment this time around was watching it alternating with episodes of the corresponding Buffy seasons. For me, it was a very important thing to do , esp with season 1/season 4 Buffy. There are lots of crossovers in those seasons, and the Faith arc starts on Buffy & continues onto Angel. There are some crossovers in season 2, but very little in season 3, so it's not quite as important. It's good to do it in season 4 as well, you've got another Faith arc plus Willow.

I remember watching the first 2 episodes and being all like...nope....this is crap.

Then I gave it another chance and I absolutely love it!!!

it was those same two episodes that completely won me over having never known anything about the show or characters.
 
I'm on a Buffy rewatch and did things the proper way by rewatching Angel after Buffy season 3.
 
I've only been through the entire series once and that was alternating with Buffy at the same time. I love the whimsy in Buffy and Angel is in some ways a much darker show(hey, he's a Vampire who can't go out out during the day) and I missed that aspect.

Maybe I'll get more from a second run through without that annoying blonde girl butting in all the time.😉
 
I've never seen Angel, but I'm on episode 5, I think. I don't have the series, and I don't have internet at home, so I watch it when I'm at work and my patient is sleeping. (In-home caretaker) I love the theme song!

Angel is different from Buffy, but I love that Oz was in it. I always wondered why he didn't have that ring...

The same thing happened to me...I found season 1 hard to get into. I think Angel takes a little while to pick up, and it does get better as it goes.

stick with it and you will get into it 🙂
 
In my head I never really separated Buffy and Angel into different shows. As far as I am concerned they are both telling the same story but from different fronts. I couldn't watch one and not the other.

What I found when I started watching a few days ago was that it's hard to get into it during the first episode because you don't know what to expect. I didn't really like the first episode all that much and the second wasn't really that great either. The third was welcomed with Spike and Oz appearing and then I found it much easier to get into. The episodes after that were amazing and I knew what to expect from them. I am offically addicted to the show now and it's fabulous. 😀
 
I'm always rewatching both Angel and Buffy too, first episodes I saw of Angel I thought was pretty uninteresting though, I bought the first season but I didn't really enjoy it first time around. However I decided to push through and I got the second season and that's when I fell in love with it! 😀
 
Watching it properly myself for the first time. I actually started from season 2, because I picked it up really cheap.
I heard season 1 is the weakest, so stick with it and you'll love it.
It's really not that different from Buffy. In it's own way, it's almost as good, and obviously there are connections and crossovers.

I'm on season 4 now, and it can be quite brilliant at times. Keep with it.
 
I am happy to hear that you are watching Angel over again and glad that you are watching with an opened mind. Lol. I love Angel. The show is amazing. I personally like Angel more then Buffy though.

I have just bought the whole series of Buffy online and I am also going to do a rewatch soon when I get them in the mail. 🙂 Very excited.
 
I actually just started Angel also, i've been alternating with Buffy season 4 and it has been going great. Doyle is an interesting guy (I know theres more to him) and Cordelia is awesome like always
 
I actually just started watching Angel again from the start for the first time in a few years.

I lol'd during the 1st episode when I noticed LOST's Josh Holloway as a vamp!

I'm watching Angel for the first time ever and I can't really get into it either. I'm about half way though it's sooooo hard I just want more Buffy but it's not the same at all. I'll try with an open mind and hopefully get through it cause I really am having s hard time seeing Angel without Buffy, it's sad.

Ohhhhh I did laugh really really hard though when Angel jumped into his car and tried to start it but it was the wrong car!!! Hahaha I was dyinggg
