Starting Angel over again

I'm watching Angel for the first time ever and I can't really get into it either. I'm about half way though it's sooooo hard I just want more Buffy but it's not the same at all. I'll try with an open mind and hopefully get through it cause I really am having s hard time seeing Angel without Buffy, it's sad.

Ohhhhh I did laugh really really hard though when Angel jumped into his car and tried to start it but it was the wrong car!!! Hahaha I was dyinggg

Are you halfway through AtS (i.e., halfway through season 3) or halfway through season 1? Well, either way, I'll give you some reasons to not give up hope on our Mr. Angel. If you're anything like me (and who wouldnt want to be?), then you will be glad you followed through and finished Angel once you're done.

OPTION 1: If you mean halfway through season 1, then you probably recently watched "she" and are thinking; "well, I like Angel dancing, but that was just for a couple of seconds, and the rest of this episode sucks!" In this case, I'd have to agree, since that's probably the worst episode of the series (Why We Fight is pretty close too). Fear not, however, for in just a few episodes you will see the awesomeness that is Five by Five and Sanctuary, two of the best episodes of the series, and, quite honestly, the Buffyverse. Also, you will get some awesome Angel/WR&H action, and an awesome ending to s1. If you're a fan of flashbacks (think Amends + Fool For Love + more ANGELUS!), then Angel s2 is what you're looking for. From the very second ep, Are You Now or Have You Ever Been, Angelus, Darla, Dru, and yes, sometimes even our beloved William the Bloody will be waiting around every bend.

OPTION 2: If you mean halfway through season 3, then you're in for a rough ride. In this case, you either have just watched Waiting in the Wings (s3e13) or are about to. If you've already seen it, I can't imagine you wouldn't be glued to the screen, so I'll imagine you are either way past it or haven't seen it at all. If you haven't seen it, wait and decide after that ep, since its incredible. If you have, then beware, because you are about to delve into some of the worst storytelling in any Joss Whedon show. Season three will be good until the end (unless you're a Cangel shipper), but you will not have many fond memories of it after the trainwreck that is Angel s4. Other than Spin the Bottle and Orpheus, you will probably want to rip your eyes out every episode. If you manage to persevere, however, you will get to see Angel s5, which is great. Yeah, it's a little rushed at the end, but the overall feel is quite remarkable.

I hope I helped!

I have 1.5 discs left in Season One. I loved Angel dancing lmao I cried laughing.

I'm not going to give up on him I promise ! It just might take me a while to get through them whereas with Buffy I was done the entire series in about 4 weeks 😛

I think the show picks up in season 2 and 3 I love season 1 but I know I'm in the minority lol but season 2 and 3 are very good 😀

I loved season 1 as well. I actually loved all the seasons lol.
I am also rewatching ATS. But I have done this many times, so this time I am alternating between ATS and BTVS. Its gonna be great!!

As for ATS starting off kind of slow. Yes it does take a little bit to take off. But think back to Buffy season 1. The first season takes some time to get into it. Dont give up on Angel. In my opinion the series gets better and better with every season. If you stick with it, then by the time you get to "Not Fade Away" you will not regret it. And in order for you to get the whole story you need to see all of Angel anyway. Its worth it.

I'm just dreading seeing Angel and Cordy hook up but since I don't know when, where, how or why they do I'll just hope it's near the end lol. Sorry all you Cangel fans but I just can't picture it! I don't want to picture it! I wanted Doyle and Cordelia to be together forev but I guess we all know how that worked out.

Warn me before any spoilers please 🙂 I'm not even done season one yet haha

you should give them a chance though they might surprise you.
I just watched my three fav episodes so far ( granted im only on season one & haven't seen anything past it) they were

Eternity - Angelus is back for a min and I forgot how much I liked him

Five by Five - I really don't like Faith but I was happy to see a familiar face

Sanctuary - Buffy! She IMO is what got Faith to finally go to jail

I think there's what like three of four episodes left in this season? I have one more disk then on to season two.

I'm also rewatching Angel! I have seen all of Buffy sooo many times, but have really only seen most Angel episodes a few times, if not once.

As much as I loved the cross-over episodes, I didn't love Season 1 as a whole. I'm now mid-season 2, and have really gotten into it.

Angel had me hooked from the very start. I absolutely loved the feel of the first season, with the dark storylines and shady characters. Quite a contrast to Buffy at that time.

I started Angel from Season 2 when it aired, and it was a long, long time before I finally saw Season 1. I didn't like it at first, but...

(1) The episodes are mostly standalones, not arc episodes. In its own way, I find that refreshing. Not that they're monster-of-the-weeks mind you, they're mostly character-development pieces. Which is great, because...

(2) Cordy's journey is a huge part of this season. I couldn't figure out how the BtVS Cordy was so different from the AtS Cordy. This season stitches the seams.

(3) The first nine episodes have a special poignancy for containing one of my very favourite Buffyverse characters. Wesley is comedic genius in the second half of the season, but he has huge boots to fill.
