for failure to recognize a new species. When Claudia Ackley and her daughters were out taking a walk and they saw a Bigfoot in a tree they took a video of it and reported it to numerous official channels. All the officials told her it was just a bear, but she's convinced it was Bigfoot. So she's suing California for not recognizing a new species she found. She even goes so far as saying the Bigfeets knock on her doors and peek in her windows. Those naughty pervs!

Since when is it a requirement of a state government to recognize the existence of a species, new or otherwise? I don't see any legal basis for the suit but with the legal liability lottery in the US, she may cash out big.
