Yes I am a fan of some of his books, The Stand is possibly one of my favourite books of all time! (lol). I also like IT, Cell, Carrie, Green Mile (also the film was one of the best book adaptations I've seen imo) ,Misery (loved the film as well),The Firestarter, Pet Cemetery and The Tommyknockers was okay to. As Richard Bachman I like Running man (also kinda like the film ahaha).
I don't really read his books any more, some of them like Hearts in Atlantis and Gerard's Game (freaking disturbing) feel to me like he writes for the sake of writing books. And oh I HATED insomnia, it was really boring enough to put you to sleep! and The Shining I stopped reading half way through. I either love his books or hate them!.

I have seen a couple of the movies. My favorite was The Shining. I was reading Carrie..but I didn't really like it that much. It reminded of me when I was in high school. I guess it just brought back bad memories. I heard the movie was good. They even made a sequel to it.

I'll admit it. I've never once read a Stephen King book, although I've seen many movies based on his books and LOVE them... "It", "Pet Semetery", "The Green Mile", "The Shining".... All are classics.

LOVE Stephen King. I think my favourite books of his would have to be IT and The Stand. Also, when he was writting under Richard Bachman, I really like The Long Walk. Right now, I'm re-reading Bag of Bones.
Love all the movies based on his stuff aswell. All the ones you guys have mentioned ofcourse, plus Creepshow, The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me are all great. With the more recent movies, The Mist wasn't too bad I thought. But I didn't care all that much for 1408, despite Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack who I love.
I agree though that some of his new stuff is a bit blah. I was pretty dissappointed with most of the stories in Just After Sunset. But I liked Under the Dome pretty well, not as good as his earlier stuff for sure, but I still found it enjoyable.

I also really liked 'Salem's Lot, although it's not really one of 'his' stories. Well he wrote it obviously, but apparently it's a modern rewrite of Dracula, so it's not like he invented the spooky motive there.
Does any of you know Langoliers? I think it's technically a short story (though it's pretty long, with a lot of chapter), because it was in a book with some other stories, but it was really good. And that's btw also the onlt Stephen Kind movie I've ever seen.

Ooh i read the shining!. Scared the crap out of me. LMAo.
The film is good too, but not as good as the tv mini series episodic one. (i watched years ago) it was like in parts, although a different version from the film. Same with 'Rose red' (mini series) he did.

I'm a life-long fan of his books (I think most of his movies really suck). I have a Dark Tower tattoo. He's my favorite writer, and I even like his new stuff. Duma Key was great IMO. I liked Under the Dome too. My least favorite period of his writing was the Gerald's Game/Delores Claiborne era. But I even liked those. I think he's a genius.

Of the ones I have read I've loved them all. But The Stand is just"¦ epic. My favorite book ever. It's scary as hell but I don't really consider it a horror novel. It's more about the character's journeys and redemption and things like that. The movie doesn't do it much justice (though some of the casting was amazing! Physically at least, I don't think they could have gotten a better Larry), but the comics are the best adaptation I've ever seen (counting movie adaptations)! All the emotion and creepiness that should be there is.

I've read and liked a good portion of his books, mostly the older ones. My favourite probably is Firestarter. I can't judge his newer works because I'm not A Fan so I don't really seek them out like I do with other authors. I've started reading The Dark Tower series though.
I'm not too keen on the movies, except for The Green Mile which probably is because I haven't even made it halfway through the book series because there was one scene, I think it was in the third one, that REALLY freaked me out.

Missery was one scary book. Wasn't that old when I read it. lol

King is one of my favourite authors...even his lesser books are at least well-written 🙂 The Dark Tower series is epic fantasy at its best, even towards the end when it got all meta-fiction-y and self-referential, and I love the way that he linked almost all of his other work to the series.
I think that there is definitely a difference between his pre- and post-accident work...the pre- stuff including all the well-known books like Carrie, Christine, The Shining, The Stand, It etc. His post-accident work is more hit and miss but still well worth checking out IMO.
The way I look at it, a sub-par King story is still usually light years ahead of the competition. I reckon that if he wasn't a genre writer that he would be one of the Great American Authors...plus he's sold a shedload more than those guys 🙂

It's hard for me to pick a favorite. I love The Talisman & Black House; they may get top billing for me. But I love the Dark Tower & The Stand too. And 'Salem's Lot. I was 12 or so when I read that one and it scared the CRAP out of me! In a good way. This is my tattoo, which almost no one gets when they see it. Sorry for the crappy quality. It's on my arm/shoulder.
