Many of us here in Los Angeles are preparing for a massive storm. We don't usually get much precipitation, so it's a pretty big deal.

However, if we actually get slammed by a monster, things will suck for a lot of people (Not me, I love storms!). I mean, seriously; waterspouts?!

So remember:

If you can hear thunder, you're within striking distance of lightening. "When thunder roars, stay indoors."

Slow down, and ALWAYS keep an eye out for those morons who can't drive.

If you're already driving around, pick up a bunch of batteries & flashlights in case the power goes out.

Hmmm. It sounds like a dragon will emerge from the sky and the town will be sucked into a hell dimension whereby only the diligence of a vampire with a soul will be able to return it to our world.

Pretty sure LA already is a hell dimension.
It's suppose to be the strongest storm is 7 years (according to ABC news).

Evacuation notices have gone out to several hillside communities and the win is already pretty strong.

Hope I don't lose power.

I thought it was already so, I just didnt want to actually say that lest I suffer the wraith of all los angelenos.
For those of you who aren't weather geeks (like me), the green areas represent rain...yellow means heavy rain. (The deeper the colour, the more intense the rain) Orange means really heavy, while red, dark red and purple means holy shit, we are screwed.

This doppler image was taken about 30 minutes ago.

That looks like a light refreshing rain to me. Not much to worry about.
 
The storm isn't too bad so far I was expecting it to be worse lol though I don't live in los angeles I live somewhat close to there in southern california. Where I live it's mostly the high winds mixed with some rain.
 
It was God giving a warning to America for getting rid of their Environmental Protection Agency and for America giving up on the Paris Protocols against Climate Control. And if America keeps going the way it is going under Trump? America will be the first country that God will dislike.
What about ISIS you ask? Well in Gods eyes humans are animals and animals have been killing each other for years.
 
What's the latest on the Oroville Dam? I hear the spillways have been taking 100,000 cubic feet of water per second and the spillways are disintegrating. There has been an evacuation of 200,000 people but I understand they are back in place now. It looks like this:

The emergency spillway is the reddish ground on the left (no flow at the time this picture was taken) , the standard spillway is what is flowing the water in the middle and dam outflow on the right is stopped. The emergency spillway started eroding but the lake level dropped enough that it stopped. But the erosion is proceeding and it looks like this:

Meanwhile, the aquifer layers that used to exist have subsided and have lost about 20 cubic kilometres of water storage capacity, so in spite of the excess rain, the state is still in a condition of drought. Most of the excess water in the state will head directly to the ocean. There are "spreading basins" and "percolation ponds" that are intended to direct the water underground, but they are not going to build up the well water resources much. Oroville is in the northern part of the state near Sacramento. They have now dropped rocks in the damaged part to shore up the eroded section. It might work. Maybe.

Yea it's been all over the news here. Thankfully I don't actually live in LA. Lol. But it was raining hard here when I got off work. The only down side is that the whole valley gets flooded here.
 
Now that is strange all the dams I've been to have the normal spillways at the bottom of the dam. The emergency spillways are at or near the top the top.
The river next door shifts 250,000 litres of water per second for the Avon Descent International White-Water Race. Two weeks ago the river was flowing at well over 1,200,000 litres of water per second, they couldn't measure it exactly as it kept breaking the test equipment.
