BUFFY Season 4:
Instead of the uneven Initiative arc, I vote Ethan Rayne as the Big Bad of BUFFY Season 4. He had so much more potential, I'm sickened by how little he was used, and Robin Sachs and ASH had such great chemistry it's a pity we weren't treated to more scenes of them together. The new and improved storyline: Giles is feeling useless after Buffy has branched off on her own, so Ethan decides to take advantage of that by driving a wedge between the two in an attempt to turn Giles over to the Dark Side. So he deploys Riley to seduce Buffy and keep her away from Giles; however, Riley ends up falling in love with Buffy, and since Ethan has been a sort of mentor/father figure to him, he has to choose where his loyalties lie (I know, a bit like Holtz-Connor, but without Riley backstabbing his actual father every ten seconds). Also, Riley being a 'fake' love interest for Buffy could provide more emotional turmoil when she finds out he played her while still reeling from having been used by Parker ("Did it all mean nothing?!"). Spike will show up sometime mid-season and take up Ethan's offer to play the "inside man" after he fears Riley is starting to stray. The big what-if: what'll ultimately happen to Giles when Buffy actually doesn't need him any longer? Take out every episode after Oz leaves up to the Faith arc (which is simply indispensable) and 'Superstar', and keep 'Restless' as a breather episode after an epic sorcerer's showdown between Giles and Ethan in the penultimate episode.

"Angel, Season 6," or later.

I have no real explanation for this, but for some reason, the idea of a mysterious character known only as "The Immortal" really piqued my interest. I kept hoping that at some point, we would discover exactly who or what he was, and why every female and a large portion of the male population of Europe were so overcome with lust for him. Also, I really wanted to see Angel or Spike rescue Buffy from his clutches, just so she could be the damsel in distress for once.

1) Angelus and evil S3 Faith doing borderline rated R stuff for most of the season. (Someone needs to do a reboot on HBO with a God of a casting director who has a look a-like fetish.)
2) Any new main villain for Buffy S4
3) A better version of the First of Buffy S7
4) Whole new plot using Jasime in Angel S4. Have Cordy give birth to twins, one good and one evil, or the different way to use Jasmine that I have mentioned in the past
5) To see the Angel comic 'After the Fall' played out on screen (takes place right after the last episode of Angel. And yes, the dragon must crash to the earth with Angel clung to a sword through the beast with 'Disturbed' playing in the background.)
6) See Buffy season 8 on screen, but not following the comics, starting fresh, and on HBO

Put Buffy and Faith in some situation where they were completely on their own with no hope of outside assistance (anything from a desert island to hell or a parallel dimension) where their only hope for survival and escape is to cooperate, work together, and trust each other.

Absolutely awesome. I always wanted Ethan Rayne to be a running character on the show - someone that they have to turn to for help sometimes, but can never really trust. The dynamic between Giles and Rayne is so powerful. But I do think that Giles knows Rayne enough to know that he is being played. As for Spike, there would have to be something in it for him - even Adam got his cooperation by prommising to get the chip removed, which Rayne is definitely able to do. I'm not sure I want him as the villain simply because I want him there for more than one season - but that could be fixed.

I wonder what the Initiative did to him....

AtS (seasons 2-4 (pre 'Salvage')):
I would have liked to see Angel visiting Faith in jail more often, the interactions between them would have helped us understand better how Faith is redeeming herself, rather than just saying in season 4 of AtS that she redeemed herself without really showing us how her life was in prison (now that should have been a Faith spin-off called FtVS, should have aired for 2 seasons and taken place during seasons 5-6 of BtVS and seasons 2-3 of AtS).

While the Scoobies are grieving Tara's death, have The First appear earlier and therefore the Potentials and Kennedy come earlier.
Have Kennedy try and get into Willow's pants in order to help her get over Tara, Willow saying she isn't interested in her and tries to track down Oz so they can reunite after she realizes that she is Bisexual and not a Lesbian like she thought.

I would have liked to see Angel visiting Faith in jail more often, the interactions between them would have helped us understand better how Faith is redeeming herself, rather than just saying in season 4 of AtS that she redeemed herself without really showing us how her life was in prison (now that should have been a Faith spin-off called FtVS, should have aired for 2 seasons and taken place during seasons 5-6 of BtVS and seasons 2-3 of AtS).

Hmmm... well they didn't want Willow's being into girls to seem like a trend so it would require some definite tip-toeing around things. I do believe Willow was into guys (maybe not as much as she thought) because she was obviously in love with Oz (and Xander) and there seemed to be no confusion about it during their relationship.

Hmm, being an avid author/reader of fanfic, for years, I have plenty of stuff. So I think I'll stick to storylines I had hoped to see in the show but that they never followed through on 🙂

Faith getting a better arc, on either show, and not just a few episodes here and there. Don't get me wrong, her arc was wonderful as is, but it could definitely stand to be more fleshed out. Maybe something along these lines; Due to overcrowding in the prison system, Faith is given early parole and put into either Giles' care, by way of the Council, or Angel's care, by way of some...I have no clue. She has to meet with a parole officer, which can be troubling at times if she gets held back from a meeting due to a life-threatening situation. I'd love to have seen her more involved in the storylines of both shows, like the Glory/Depression arcs of Buffy, or the Connor as a baby arc and the whole Darla/Dru thing in Angel.

An actual back story for Tara, not just hints in a few episodes here and there. Don't need flashbacks, though that would be nice. Maybe have family members who aren't raging psychos show up looking for her, after Family? Wanna kill her off? Fine. But make her death more than just a way to further Willow's plot. Maybe a sacrifice, though that's been done a few times; I could see her dying to save Dawn, would be very in character.

Don't assassinate both Spike and Buffy's character with that ridiculous AR plot, followed by absolutely no closure for our heroine! Either give him a different reason for getting a soul, don't give him a soul, or have them deal with what happened in S7 in a believable way!

I want more Willow stuff. Specifically, I think I would like to see more more of Willow with her parents. Parents **** you up and Willow's more than most. I would also want to see more of early Tillow. Part of me likes that they play it subtle, but I have so many questions, because they drop so many hints for things that are never properly explored.

Wet dream: A four hour between seasons special with Willow, Tara, Dawn and the BuffyBot living together in the Summers House.

Bonus: Drusilla in season 5 of Angel.
 

But make her death more than just a way to further Willow's plot.

Personally, I'd gladly martyr myself as a Willow plot device.

 

[Ethan Reigns]

1. There is a huge disconnect between the bumbling Wesley of BtVS and the badass Wesley of Angel. We need the storyline of how he went from the one to the other. (Fanfic idea anyone?) Almost everything about Wesley changes and the differences are too extreme to go by without explanation. Does anyone think the Wesley who was afraid to ask Cordelia to dance at the prom would become the guy who took Lilah as a lover while keeping Justine locked in a closet in his home?

2. Are there no Latinos/Latinas in California? Even Empata came from Peru and Willy the Snitch was never identified as being Hispanic. Some sort of demon in the Spanish quarter may have been necessary.

3. We needed more Ethan Rayne including more of his backstory with Rupert. He was only in four episodes.

Make Jess's death much more significant, even if only to drive the evil of the vampires home (other than like video game bad guys to dust), and the families of Buffy and the Scoobies should've been more menaced than they were. I'm sure Xander would've been especially vulnerable to family members being turned, even by accident (and surely after Xander was bold enough to stand up to Angelus in the hospital, particularly since it later comes out how Angelus, either out of a twisted joy or offense at such arrogance, loves to go after the families of humans who insist on being his enemy, and even just to destroy them as he did with Dru).

A storyline involving the wanna-blessed bes at UoC, Sunnydale, as they discover real magic...and maybe become twisted with it (all for a misguided good cause), and it's because of Willow who had to prove it, and once she did she really regrets it, and must get Buffy, Tara, and the Scoobies to help her correct her mistake...(and what is it with Willow running into idiotic academics anyway, from her mother to those Wiccans at college?).

Though my thoughts on "magic as a drug metaphor" in s6 have been stated before and no need to bring them up now, I actually would've loved the ideas of magic used to create (and also enhance) drugs (which could even easily be worked into season 6, though they shouldn't send Willow to rock bottom that fast unless they're specifically cursed as it's not about profits, but something much more sinister). And given the "magic creep" (that is, the supernatural, including magic, became more ordinary as the seasons progressed, which were being increasingly shown in special groups, projects, services, and products) they could explain the rise of magical drugs (among other things) with the "rising tides of magic" (which also helps explain why there are so many apocalyptic events coming about).

More backstory for Riley than that he's from Iowa and his family owned dogs. Does he have siblings? Are there a lot of veterans in his family? Did they want to meet that girl he wouldn't shut up about every time he called home during grad school? I'm not even a fan of Riley, but come on. He got even less development in his personal life than Nina. (And yet somehow, I'm not bothered by how little we got from Oz. Possibly because it suits Oz's personality better for his family to not be onscreen characters.)

Would have loved to see some conflict in his history something that made him more human dealing with his own issues separate and apart from Buffy. Maybe like he lost a sibling at a young age could stop the attack and felt a personal responsibility ever since and how that shaped his life. Something that made him, complex.

Season 4 baddy should have been Professor Walsh. Mad scientist/ govt agent gone rogue. Obsessed with power and order etc. she would have been a better villain.

One thing I always thought would have been fun would have been to have Faith around for OMWF..........what would she have sung?

Would it be a rock number like Spikes....or a bit more grunge....maybe even a duet with Buffy.

Given that she had a real thing about opening up, how would she have dealt with what her song made her reveal about herself?

....and of course the Fuffy fan in me wants to know what she would have revealed about her true feelings towards a certain Blonde Slayer..... 😉
