The seventh season episode, "Storyteller", which focused on the character Andrew, was an experiment to see how the audience would respond to a show centered around Andrew, since the series was ending and they were trying to find a character upon whom they could build another spin-off show.

What do you think, true or not? Would you wanted to watch such a show?

PS: Everyone reply, this is a non-spam Andrew-centric thread, it'll be good for getting him his own category!

I've never laughed at an episode of BtVS as much as this one. It's probably the most quoted one in my group of friends. It's genius. I would have most definately watched a series and still will if it's based on Andrew.

I dont think its true since why would they make a Andrew spin-off? I love him but it would just be strictly comedy(which im fine with but nothing Joss would make into a spin-off) its like saying Selfless was an episode to see how the audiance would respond to an Anya spin-off

I actually do partly believe this. In fact, I have a feeling that next season or the season there after, we might actually see such a thing. Obviously all the fans loved Andrew, and obviously we want him back. Joss wouldn't want to rush into a spin-off, after Sarah made her decision he first went for the usual suspects to take over, Alyson and Eliza, but since for some reason they declined or he didn't think it have enough potential. He might very well have though out this idea, but not wanting to rush into it, took a year off to work it out.

I think Andrew's show would most definitely not be a comedy. But a super-natural drama like we're used to it. My guess'd be him and a slayer on the road.

I'd definitely watch it. With Joss, I don't know if he'd want to do a show only about comedy for the character of the Buffyverse. Maybe it would take a more serious turn...

I don't believe that and I wouldn't watch it...Andrew annoyed me *trying to hide in safe place*

The episode was so incredibly funny, but an Andrew spin-off...? I couldn't see that doing to well. I know he has a ton of fans, I really love Andrew, but I don't think an Andrew spin-off would be very good. And I truely doubt that is true....

i think that storyteller was an excellent episode and id be delighted if there were an andrew spin-off hes an excellent funny character i hope one day there is a spinoff about his adventures

Think about it for a second.
The way they're bringing back Andrew to Angel, a Watcher, this does in fact provides room for a spin-off

This sounds a bit mean, but before Chosen I would have rooted an Andrew spin-off, but after Chosen, I dont want one anymore...

Alright, that would so rock and wouldn't be another simple vampire slayer spinoff, it would be unique. And the best of that would be that Andrew hasn't been around as longas Faith or Willow, so it would be fresh. The problem would be making hims a little more serious so he can be the lead, but I know that Tom Lenk is one of the few actors who can carry his own show.

First of all, the theory is pretty ridiculous. ::evil1::
Many times Buffy has had eps that focused on a minor character (Zeppo, Selfless, that one with Tara's family that noone cared about).
If there was an Andrew spinoff...
I like the Andrew character, I would watch it, but I would watch any Buffy spinoff so that's not saying much.
TV-businesswise, it is not a good idea.
Also, there really isn't any decent way to do it without having at least one buffy alum be a major character. And since Andrew was only a minor character, the other buffy character would kind of steal the show and make it like the Beatles reuniting in the 90s to do Free As A Bird. Half-assed.

Interesting.
But "Storyteller" also could've been an attempt to see if he would be transferable to Angel...
For an instance..."Phases" centered around Oz, because Joss wanted to see if he would make a good season regular...
Also...Joss may have wanted to see if Andrew would make a good character on a Buffy spin-off centered around another character...
Eric, I'm think along the same lines of you...
Andrew may have a great fanbase...but not one nearly large enough to carry his own show or big enough for the networks actually make money.
A major Buffy Alum would be needed...and they would end up stealing the show...
And since Tru Calling is sinking in the proverbial quick sand when it comes to ratings...a Faith spin-off is definitely a possbility...
Not to mention...Nicholas Brendon has already said he would gladly be a part of any spin-off that Joss came up with...
And why would Joss make an Andrew spin-off when he could do one with Xander, who has a much, much, much bigger fanbase?
But then again...Joss is weird like that...and he seems to get off on being the underdog.

I would *so*watch an Andrew spinoff! Allycat, isn't your source suppose to be pretty reputable too?!

I would, as many others have stated, watch any spinoff as well. Well, I take that back, I have no desire to watch Trucalling...BUT I also think that Andrew really started to fly towards the end of Buffy. Especially compared to Xander...I don't think Xander could really grow anymore-which direction would he take? I luv Xander but I don't think he could pull of his "own" show. I think he would be great as a character on a Willow spinoff or even an Andrew spinoff though.

Andrew is brilliant! I have no doubt he could incorporate drama and comedy together very well and very natural.

I really don't think they could do much with a show with him being the main character. He doesn't have any superpowers, he's okay as a character but no one that I am interested in watching a whole series on. I believe that the series would flop, just like Eliza's choice of Tru Calling is doing...maybe we will have a spinoff soon including Eliza Dushku as the famous/infamous Faith.

Yet...he could have some developed/written for him... 😀
