WARNING: Not cool stuff!

Woo! The school year officially started for me today which means the drama is going to be flooding in any day now and you're going to have to start helping me through my troubled times again. Here is the first one, which I'm explaining to you guys because it's a dangerous secret to all parties involved. Some parts are going to be blurred because I don't want the board to know some of my business, not that there's anything wrong with it. I'd just prefer it is kept quiet. Ok. Here we go.

I spent lots of time during the summer with Stephanie, Nick and Megan, like most of you probably know if you've seen my signature or my journal. I had them over a few nights after I got home from the beach. Stephanie had to go home, but Nick and Megan slept over. At 3:30am I was beat and wanted to go to sleep, but the couches downstairs are really uncomfortable. I left Nick and Megan down there and went to sleep in my room. Nick came up to my room a few hours later and then left the house. He told me some stupid lie that I was able to prove false. When I talked to Megan I found out why he really left the house. When I went upstairs, I turned off the lights so that they could sleep. Megan is afraid of the dark so she was getting antsy. Nick offered the couch to her and she said yeah. So they shared a couch together and he fell asleep, but she didn't because she was still scared. He woke up sometime during the night and they started making out on the couch. He made a move on her, which actually is kinda like attempted rape. He pinned her in between his legs, put her hand down his pants and said, 🙂:scratches hand:: how do I say this one on a family board...) "Give me... (blinks)...something on top of your neck..." And she said no and tried to leave, but he had her pinned. So he did the same thing a couple times and after she began to fight back he knocked her off the couch and came to my room.

So, knowing that information I confronted him about it and he said that it never happened. He's aware of everything that happened up until the point where the bad stuff happened. He's walking around fine, but now we have Megan who can't sleep at night because she's having nightmares about almost getting raped. I don't know who to believe because I have two different stories. I don't know if I should believe my best friend of 5 years or my cousin that I've known since birth.

Any insight would be helpful.

Yikes hon. Sounds like a massive rock and a brutal hard place. Remember theres always three sides to a story. His side, her side , and the truth. Attempted rape is a serious matter. You know these two well. Use what knowledge you have of them both, and find your answer. Even little things that you would normally overlook. Think about the things Nick thrives on. You seem to know Megans fears pretty well. Do you know her habits too? I've never been in your position so I really can't offer a massive amount of help. Although, I wish I could. Good luck.

I agree with NSlayMode...well said. You know them both and you probably know him well enough to know if he's capable of that and her well enough to know if she's capable of lying about something that serious...just trust your gut. Like she said, what kind of things does Nick..like...does he do anything that makes you question him moraly or otherwise?

I agree with both NSlayMode and Rayne on this one. There definitely 3 sides to every story. This is a very serious issue so Hero please note that the following is just my speculation.

1. Her side - Exactly as you mentioned. However, she was scared all night, firstly that wears on the body and the mind and secondly it is bound increase the need to exagerate anything that happens in that period. For instance if you sat and did nothing all day and a rabbit ran by your window, you would be more likely to tell this to someone than if you had been busy at the time. Furthermore you would be more likely to say that the rabbit was there for "like a minute," even if it only took 5 seconds to pass by. There is verifiable evidence for the formulation of memory in traumatic situations (see Discover September 2004).

2. His side - Nothng happened. You note that they were making out, so he thinks of it as the natural progression of the situation. He thinks he just got shut-down and leaves it at that.

3. The truth - The question becomes where is the truth mixed in this? Is her side the truth? Possibly. Is his side the truth? Possibly. Is it a mixture of the two? Most likely. Without more information I can't really formulate a hypothesis, but this is an example of what might have gone down. They are making out for a while and he decides to move it to the next step (without her permission) so he does his thing once, her being scared all night and at the time makes her remember it more than once, while he admits to nothing because he got shut-down and because he realizes that he was wrong.

All of the above is just speculation and just my opinion. Good luck finding the truth in the stories.
