I actually typed several e-mails to this sad git (using all the words I didn't on the board 🙂) but didn't send them. It was kinda cathartic though - and resulted in the very toned down rant I started the thread with 😉
 
Okay, I just saw this thing, and since I have not seen it anywhere else on the internet, I am going to guess that it is only here. Why would this guy hack, of all places, a Buffy forum to make a point about U.S. activities in the Middle East? Does he really think that the people in charge of desicions involving our military operations are going to be frequenting Buffy forums? Come on now...
 
lol RandyGiles apparantly the hacker thought that maybe George W. frequents the boards and is posting what will be happening in Iraq.

whatever you do please donot send him your email address, it could be exactly what he wants to get a ton of email messages and send viruses directly to your email addey.

As I said previously it happened to The Daily Planet and Tru Calling.net (both of which are also run by us) The only thing I can think of is that they found one site and did others as there were links. However like stated previously a similar thing also happened to Buffysearch. Perhaps because there is a lot of buffy sites out there and its very popular.
 
Yeah, that continues to baffle...like why BuffyBoards. What was going through their little brains.

Was it like, "The Infidel must be stopped. Quickly brothers, Jihad to the Buffyboards."

Seriously, what was their major malfunction? Was the security too tight at ScoobyDoo.com?
 
Okay guys, yes we have been hacked, yes it is irritating, and yes we take this seriously and are working on sorting the problem. Can we please leave it now before this bitching gets out of hand?
 
Not sorry to have started this thread - but someone was going to do it - however, I don't think the "Bitching has got out of hand" Willow - most folks seem to be taking things in good humour, despite the minor inconvenience.
I think we all appreciate the efforts admin/mods put in to make the boards a fun and friendly experience but I don't think you should discourage comments on events which affect board members. I don't mind seeing a bit of serious discussion occasionally rather than "I think Orlando's better than David" or "Here's the same spoiler that someone else posted a week ago" which does seem to occur regularly. Sorry to come over all sarky and preachy but it is late here and I'm drunk🙂
 
Whilst i don't appreciate the preachiness I get what you mean; I'm just saying it's done, it's sorted, can we move on before things do get out of hand. I didn't say they were out of hand already 🙂
