Sucker Punch

What?! We must have seen a different movies, cause I thought it was the worst movie I'd ever seen. I was hopeful from the trailer, but it was so bad. The action scenes were so pointless, they didn't make sense at all. Everyone I was with agreed as well, and we were the target audience as well, 17 year old guys. I would have left the theatre if I was by myself.

hahaha are you sure you were watching Sucker Punch? 😛 I LOVED it. The entire thing was amazing. Everything about it was amazing 😀😀 Everything made perfect sense to me. It's one of those movies that have a deeper meaning than what's on the surface

Ahaha, I don't think so. The action sequences made no sense, they were just there for fun. They didn't continue from one to the next, so they were entirely irrelevant to the rest of the movie. The "deeper meaning", if there was one, was very out of place due to the fact that the rest of the movie had very little plot or point. Like it was 2 hours of mindless action sequences that felt more like music videos than anything, then in the last minute the narrator comes in and gives some general feel-good message pretending to have depth.

Here, let me break it down to ya the way i saw it and understood it. Maybe it will help you see it clearer?

The entire movie, wasn't Baby Doll's story. It was Sweat Pea's. When Baby Doll first walks into the asylum or w/e it was, you see Sweat Pea on the stage getting ready to go through the doctor's treatment. that's when everything starts to change to her story. the entire film, well, most of it is in her mind. It's about her wanting to escape and how she would do it, but her being too afraid to do it. Then Baby Doll shows up and she uses her as the hmmm i guess you could call it her accomplice? Or leader. Using her as any excuse if her plan failed miserably. The narrator wasn't talking to baby Doll. He was talking to Sweat Pea VIA Baby Doll. The action sequences, the actual missions of gathering the items, all of that was in Sweat Pea's head. The way she envisioned doing it. The moment i realized this was at the moment Baby Doll figured out she was the last piece of the puzzle. She was the biggest key. Then it goes back to reality, and you see baby doll about to get that procedure done. She went insane there in that institution. She helped Sweat Pea escape, and she helped to bring to light what the owner of the institution had been doing to the girls in real time.

Does any of that make sense? I'm horrible at putting things down into words lol 😛

Yes, I understand this, but the problem is the same. This idea idea of her needing these objects and then needing someone to help her realize her potential was not bad at all, the problem was that that's not what most of the movie consisted of.
The majority of the movie followed the same stupid pattern. They need something, so they dance to distract. Instead of showing the dance, they show some 10 minute battle with robots or dragons that felt like it came from the mind of a 12 year old boy. There was no continuous plot within these action sequences, and there wasn't really any good metaphorical messages in them, they were just 10 minutes of video game violence. If you cut these action sequences out(I mean they were in a dream already, why add in a second layer of dreams?), and tried to develop the characters more, then maybe they could have gone for the deeper meaning, but the movie was clearly just eye candy.

That was kind of the point though if you think about it. They don't show the dance, because they aren't really dancing. It's all just part of her crazy mind. That's what makes me love the movie even more 😛

For me it was honestly the best movie I've seen since my favorite movie of all time (Grindhouse, specifically Death Proof) back in 2007.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH, I CAN'T EVEN!

I sat in the theatre for like 5 minutes just ... sitting. Because the movie was that epic.

And since I work at a movie theater, I get to take home all the Sucker Punch related things. So today I got a poster and I took about one of the standees and took two sides (it was five sided) and I have Babydoll and Sweet Pea. I'm thinking of taking the other standee too and maybe the banner but what even would I do with it?

I saw this movie again today in IMAX. thinking about going with my mom when i go on vacation. I already filmed a video review of it XD

Whats the movie actually about? Im supposed to see it on the weekend but I dont want to spend money on something I have no clue about. Anyone care to fill me in?

Without spoiling you, Sucker Punch is about a 20 yr old girl that was sent to an insane asylum unjustly. The remainder of the film is about her trying to escape said facility.
