Summer Glau, best known to Whedonites as Firefly's River Tam, will be heading to Arrow next season for a 'major role'.

Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Summer Glau has booked a recurring role on The CW's breakout action drama toplined by Stephen Amell, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Glau will play the "enigmatically beautiful" and "dangerous" Isabel Rochev, vp of acquisitions at Stellmoor International, a company looking to take over Queen Consolidated. She will first appear in the premiere.

Awesome, I love her and I love the show so I dont see how this could not work 😀 All though I have a feeling there is gonna be a nice little love triangle between her, Oliver, and Laurel.

This might have convinced me to watch this show. Now I'll have to try the first season and see if I like that.

Gives me a reason to keep watching. I wasnt all that thrilled by season 1 but it was ok. Having Summer in season 2 will make it more interesting for me.
 
How is it none has mentioned the curse of Summer Glau?! Shows she get some episodes in get cancelled. I really like Summer and I'm always happy to see her in something and I hope this turns out well for her. It's often mentioned though so that's why I'm surprised not to the a mention.

I haven't watched Arrow even if I've heard some good things from members of this board. This will most likely to watch at least next season.

I'm looking forward to this though, Arrow has had some awesome guest stars.

I saw people saying this on social media.I hope it doesnt get cancelled, what will happen to her career if it does?
 
All of those shows bombed for reasons that had nothing to do with her. The writer's strike, shoddy writing, and poor scheduling killed Terminator. Dollhouse was DOA long before she appeared on it. Firefly was killed by FOX before the first episode even aired. The Cape failed because it was a crappy show on all levels. Alphas was hardly a ratings monster, and its not like this was the first time Syfy canceled a sci-fi show (to make room for more reality shows).
 
Makes sense they would bring in that character now. Should make for an interesting next season. Summer isn't what I would have pictured, but I'm sure they are changing up the character from the comics.

They are brining in a character to be Black Canary as well, so i guess at least at first Laurel wont be Canary. The new character as well as Summer are likely to be possible love interests for Oliver as well as Laurel.

It's a deviation from the comics (in the sense that she isn't a superhero), but I'm pretty sure Laural is Black Canary. I know they've cast someone else in that role for next season, but I have a feeling it won't be a long-term thing. Dinah Laurel Lance in the comics is Black Canary, and is kind of like Green Arrow's Lois Lane.

You reading the smallville season 11 comics? I know some people really dont like Smallville because of its blatant disregard for commonly accepted Superman storyline lol

Yeah, thats why when I read about this is surprised me. The article was talking a bunch about how the show is all about like origins and stuff and how no one starts out as who they are and work their way to it. It mentioned that maybe Laurel would eventually become Canary but at least for now someone else will be her. Oh and you think Olivers sisters boyfriend is gonna become Speedy/Red arrow? I mean at first I thought it was gonna be her because I recalled Oliver using speedy as a nickname for her but now its seeming more and more like the boyfriend.

Well, Roy Harper was the first Speedy in the comics. He later became Arsenal and then Red Robin (kind of like how Dick Grayson went from being Robin to Nightwing) before shifting back to Arsenal. They've already sort of established him as this uber-talented athlete, so I'm sure there are big plans for him moving forward.

As for Thea, I think she's kind of a combination. Obviously her "Speedy" nickname speaks volumes, but there are other signs as well. In the comics, or at least before the "New 52" reboot (which has greatly altered the Green Arrow history), Mia Deardon was the latest Speedy (and my personal favorite). In the last episode of S1, Oliver's Mom mentioned that her maiden name was "Deardon", so take that for what you will.

I'm almost positive that both Roy and Thea will become active parts of Oliver's "Hood" life. Plus, she had that great show in the finale.

I haven't read them, but I loved the T.V. series. I thought almost all of the changes they made, especially in the first five seasons, were brilliant. Honestly, I don't know why so many people get themselves so worked up over source material changes when things come to T.V. or movies. I like general principles followed, sure, but if the changes improve the story I have no issue with that. Smallville exemplifies that.

Good lol Smallville has been one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I have probably watched through all 10 season 6 or 7 times. Unfortunately I have never really been a comic book reader so im not very well versed in marvel and DC worlds outside of the movies and tv shows. Right now im reading Smallville season 11, Buffy 9 and Angel and Faith and they are also the only comics I have read lol.
