Summer Reading

If you're in school/university, what books are you required to read over the summer?

As for me, I have to read A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Glass Castle, and The Taming of the Shrew. 😛

oh Taming of the shrew is a good one.
I'm not required to read anything but for fun I'm reading "In search of lost time (pt 4 Sodom and Gomorrah)" by Marcel Proust, Euripidies plays - Medea, Hippolytes, Electra amongst others, also Lovecraft's "Necromion" and if I find the time I'll dig into "Don Quixote" and "Les liaisons dangereuse" again 😀

We don't have summer reading list for school here, buy I always enjoy a good book on a beach or in a park on a sunny summer day 🙂

I don't have to read over the summer, but I'm reading three books for school this moment.

1. Drift. Just finished it.
2. The Kite Runner. I'm on page 6 or something now 😀
3. Monsieur Ibrahim et les fleurs du coran

I just noticed those are 3 different languages 🙂

And I have to read Notes On A Scandal once again properly for my test week.

Alas Babylon by Pat Frank
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

I'm loving Frank's novel so far, it's very good! Once I finish his I'll start my second one in a few weeks, don't wanna spend too much time reading during my summer! It's probably the only time of the year where my reading is at a minimum. 🙂

I don't have any required reading at the moment, but I just started Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club.

I've started reading Atlas Shrugged for an essay. Forty pages down, 1000 to go.

I have to read The Hunchback of Notre Dame and some book about a dog... 😀 They both seem pretty lame, but I'm really happy that I'm finally an EIGHTH GRADER. 8th graders rule middle school. 😉

I don't have any summer reading for school, but i've been making my way through some of Jodi Picoult's novels. Good stuff. 🙂

Never had to read anything over summer...is that normal in the US?

Think I'm gonna read 'Casanova' and 'War and Peace' this summer for fun reading.

I've finished uni now so I don't have a reading list for that but I will be doing teacher training from September so I'm waiting to find out what books I will need to read to teach etc. I've also got a lot of secondary reading to do for that.

But I will also be embarking, I hope, on the classics I've been collecting. I've relaxed with The Lovely Bones and Veronika Decides to Decide (which I'm about halfway through) and then I want to move through War and Peace, Les Mis, Madame Bovary and some others that I can't think of right now, lol.
