MERRICK!
Okay being in high school, my school had our swimming carnival today and as it has begun customary for me I was burnt and am now literally the same colour as a tomato. My feet are burnt, my face is burnt, my chest is burnt, my neck, it hurts everywhere lol! I was covered in red body paint all day (my house is red) so initially I didn't notice the burns until my mum pointed it out thinking it was more body paint. So my question for you is does anybody have any remedy for sunburn to ease my suffering?

Make sure you use the aloe vera plant not the processed stuff.Just cut a leaf off and split it open and rub the gell inside on yourself.I used it in Jamaica and it took the pain away almost instantly
I haven't gotten badly sunburned in quite a few years, but as I recall, the thing that felt the beat to me was to lie in a tub of cool, (not cold) water. There was also an ointment called "Solarcaine" that took the pain away really well for awhile, but obviously it would come back. Just remember not to pop the water blisters if they come up.

[I'll tell you a story about my misspent youth in the Navy. I had a friend who worked below decks every day, so he never got any sun. When we were in port, a bunch of us would always go to the beach for swimming and skin diving, and Charlie would always get burned lobster red. (this was long before there was anything that even resembled sun blocker). He would come back to the ship, take a cold shower, go to bed, and wake up the next morning with a great tan and not a bit of sunburn. He said his whole family was like that. Maybe he was some kind of space alien,]

I used to tan as soon as I saw the sun, but medications have changed that now unfortunatly 🙁
I never got badly sunburnt until recently coz I was always tanned!

Aloe Vera Aloe Vera Aloe Vera!!!!

Best stuff ever for burns and sunburns 🙂

Dont put moisturiser on coz it'll trap the heat. Coldish shower (cool water flowing over skin better then soaking) then lather yourself in aloe vera (100% gel, or direct from the plant) then stand under the air con 😛

Did your house/faction win?

Ouch, that sounds painful. I used to burn and then tan and not burn again the rest of the summer. But as I have gotten older...now I just keep burning on top of old burns. Aloe Vera helps. You would think after 31 years I would learn to put sunblock on, especially since I put it on my kids (most of the time) before we go out. I always miss myself for some reason.

At least it isn't like my husband. He is allergic to sunburns. I kid you not. It isn't the sun he's allergic to. He can be out in the sun and be fine but if he gets a sunburn he has a really bad reaction. The first time was in 2004 over Father's Day. We spent the day at the beach and the next evening I had to rush him to the ER because his sunburn was itching so bad and he couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't even put lotion on him because it hurt to touch. It sucks. He has to take benadryl whenever he gets a sunburn which means he can't work because it makes him drowsy. It's only if a large portion of him gets burned. Even the doc at the ER found it strange and had never heard of someone being allergic to their sunburn. I get to have the strange husband, lol.

I agree with the cold shower (if it isn't too painful; a lukewarm bath will help if you can't take the water pressure), aloe vera, and air conditioner regimen. Also, if possible, keep your hair up and off your sunburn and keep fabric from rubbing up against the burn.

Last time I got a really bad burn, it was on my upper back and shoulders. I'm talking blisters and everything. I wore a spaghetti strap dress to a luncheon in Long Beach - without knowing the restaurant was outside. No sunscreen = pasty white Palabra = second degree burn. For the next several weeks, I ended up wearing all these cute little backless and halter tops that I hadn't worn since high school. lol. My roommate was like, "Dude... where'd you get all those sexy clothes?"

I feel your pain. I am sending positive, non-burny thoughts in your direction!

Aloe Vera...just as everyoen else said...cool fan...make sure to stay cool if you can...also a damp washcloth will hel ellevate some of the burning...just place it on and let it sit...hope you heal quickly!

I've found cold milk on sunburn helps, last time we went on holiday my boyfriend got really sunburnt and I decided to pour some cold milk down his back. Apparently it worked a treat! Though if you find that a bit icky, as everyone else has said, aloe vera sure does the trick.

Banana Boat is the best stuff to use, even hospitals use it on burns. A few years ago I got burnt from a stoneware plate in a microwave. I only burnt my thumb, below the surface, I rang for advice from the hospital (Medical Advice in the 24 hours advice pages at the front of the phone book).

We have this stuff called Après Milk that works more or less. It helps your skin and also cools it down for a while so you don't feel so much pain anymore.
Last time I was sunburned was last summer when we were in Russia (yes, you heard right, Russia has sun). It was the only summer I had this year due to really bad weather in Britain (where I sepnt 5 weeks) and Germany. Plus, I'm naturally VERY pale. So in Russia it was about 40°C and the first thing me and my exchange student did was hit the beach. Luckily I was wearing sun blocker, otherwise it would've been much worse. But somehow I didn't use enough on my neck and cleavage so that's where I got red. Looked really strange and everybody saw it all of the time because it was just too hot in Russia to cover it. To make it worse we went to a big city 3 days later and I was wearing one spaghetti straps, low neckline, pretty free back tops and didn't put on any sunblocker (due to some very unfortunate but also kind of funny circumstances). Well, I tried to stay in the shadow, but as you can imagine, I still got burned pretty bad.

honestly i'm a red head with extremely fair skin if i'm in the sun for anything over 10 minutes in the late spring or summer.... or just really anytime the sun is shinning really well and its warm... I get baked lol and bad... if i decide i'm going for a walk i have to wear sunblock... i become a lobster....

Aloe Vera used to work for me... but i guess i kinda got used to it and it dont work so well anymore.... Bactine used to work too sometimes.... ummm cool baths do the trick for a while pretty much same thing as everyone else has said.... Or you can just live with it... and try not to move to much lol
