Sundance!

Hello world. It is now january, and that means that this usually quiet little town of mine is now buzzing and bussy.

On friday (jan 16) I went to see the world premier of Garden State, starring Natalie Portman, and that guy from Scrubs (he also wrote and directed it). It was amazing... I didn't know that people like that grew on sitcoms... Anyway, also saw the premier of Iron Jawed Angels, very good indeed, just not the kind of movie that I tend to love.....

My favorite part though.... At Garden State, Maggie Gyllenhal sat right behind me, now I have the biggest crush ever. She is so incredibly beautiful and kind. I want to keep her! wow!!

Has anyone ever come to humble little Park City for Sundance?
 
The sad thing is that a few years back the Sundance film festival actually showcased non hollywood produced movies, but since hollywood studios bought out the independants there are not many non hollywood movies left. Thank god for foreign films.
 
Hang it all, Kindred! One the one hand, I think it's kick ass that you get to have experiences like that. But the other hand is insanely jealous and wants to kick you in the shin. Except for that whole thing where hands don't kick...my metaphors are totally mixing like a David Lynch/Michael Bay double feature.
 
Hey I was just there this weekend! And I saw Maggie Gyllenhal too! That's so weird. I was walking down the street and saw her. Also I saw the old guy from Italian Job, forget his name, and the guy who was Francie's boyfriend in the beginning of Alias if anyone watches that- Charlie. It was so much fun. My friend lives in Park City, so I just stayed with her. One of my friends saw Demi Moore and Ashton Kucher there. I only got to see one movie though, it was con game. I waited in line for 2 hrs today to see THe Machinest, but it filled up before we could go in. 🙁
 
Allycat - Sundance is like the American version of the Cannes film festival.

LD - I live to make you jealous. 🙂 You should come to sundance, it's fun, and there's lots of other little festivals that tend to crop up... Slamdance, Jazzdance, and all sorts.

Grrarrg - You should tell me who your friend is, maybe I know them, Park City isn't that big. Wouldn't that be a coincidence....
 
Jazzdance? Dude, is that like a big Jazzercize festival? I'm so there! I've just gotta get some leg-warmers to wear over my stretchy stirrup pants...

So what's the final verdict on this years festival, Kindred? Was it as good as years past?
 
Well, their family just moved there a year ago. Her name's Aubrey Janzen, and she has a younger sister thats your age named Maren.
 
Sorry it took so long to reply to this stuff, but I was away for a while, then I couldn't find the thread, then I sort of forgot about the thread....

Anyway, LD, I'm not sure exactly what Jazzdance is, except that it's here during Sundance, which, this year was pretty good. Alot more honest movies, and some really cool ones. I didn't like the few mainstreams that were admitted however, Butterfly Affect, Iron Jawed Angels... Not that IJA wasn't good, just that it's a big mainstream movie... And as for the Kutcher one, there are no words, maybe barfey noises though. I think that you'd look just swell in leg warmers. You should deffinately get yourself a pair. Or are you holding on to a pair from the 80's still? Festival again... I liked it this year, but I felt like the general atmosphere wasn't as exciting as it usually is....

Grrarrg- I'll see if anyone at school knows that person, although I'm not sure what I would say. "Hi, I'm a scary person who tracked you down through someone I know on the internet. Do you fancy a stalker?" But I think it's neat that you know someone here.... I also think it's neat that I use the word neat.
 
Kindred - you crack me up!😛 And I just wanted to say that I was reading the ever-brilliant Entertainment Weekly.. how I do love that magazine.. and this week they did a review of the Sundance Festival. Let me tell you, I have never been so insanely jealous of anyone as I am of you. I think I would just die to visit Park City, Utah for one Festival in my lifetime.

Yay! Let's do that. And we can all volunteer for the Festival and get free tickets (this is what I plan to do next year, when my school schedule won't be so set in stone). And when we're not busy watching movies, we can have a Buffy and Angel marathon. PARTY!

Buffy Summers - Nope, didn't see that one, sorry, wish I had though. I will eventually, I hope. Our Park City Blockbuster is special, about 1/4 of the store is entirely Sundance movies, being as this is where Sundance is.

Ya that would be kind of creepy... but I like it. 😱

This was my first time to Sundance, it was lots of fun... someone thought I was in a show. 😀 hehe
 
You should of played it up, and gotten them to ask you for an autograph, and given them one... I think that would be hilarious. And then, maybe one day you would become famous, and that person would have a pre-fame autograph, worth lots of money.

When you were here, did you see any movies or do anything worth mention?
 
I should've, cause I am gonna be famous one day. 😉

I saw two movies, one was con game, the other was Dogville with Nicole Kidman. It was pretty good, the set up was weird, but I love Nicole Kidman. Other than that I just wandered around. Wouldn't that be weird if we saw each other, but didn't know it? haha.
