Sunday entering Buffy's room

Two possible reasons. Reason one: Either Buffy hadn't, at the time of Summer's gang's invasion of the dorm room,, developed any sort of personal feelings of it as her new home (remember, ALL of Sunday's victims seemed to be freshmen, just arrived on campus, somewhat disoriented and feeling pretty much lost. It's doubtful that any of them had begun feeling that their dorm rooms as any kind of metaphor for "home," therefore the vampire/threshold injunction wouldn't be in effect) whereas, later, once she was fully oriented with her new life and settled in, the room became "home" to her, therefore Angel required an invitation.
Second possible reason: The writers either screwed up or intentionally violated vampire protocol for the sake of the story, either not thinking that the viewers would notice or hoping that they just wouldn't care. (Obviously, the writers don't know Buffy fans the way that they should. We see everything, we miss nothing, and we do more analysis of facts than Sherlock Holmes when the game's afoot.)

I like white avenger's first theory. Sounds good to me.
But do we know that Angel actually had to be invited in?
Maybe it just something he took for granted?
Perhaps just to be on safe side also. I mean, who wants to look like an idiot by misjudging the need of an invite and just ending up bouncing back instead of entering? 🙂

Maybe because Kathy was a demon there was a loophole or something? Not sure how that would have worked...
I seem to remember Angel asking 'can I come in' when visiting Buffy's house once, and him saying he was just being polite when told he had already been invited. Maybe Angel was just being polite, and the other vamps were able to enter because it's not their permanent residence, like Angelus is able to get into Jenny's Uncle's hotel room 🙂

We've been shown over and over again that vampires do need an invite.
Angelus got deinvited, Dracula couldn't enter without Joyce, Harmony wasn't able to enter without Dawn screwing up, Spike got deinvited and told a story about when he needed to get invited to kill a family, Angel was leaning against a invisible barrier in Angel season two when it disapeared and he fell(presumably because the guy living there died). I probably forgot some others scenes.
