Have you ever wondered about Sunnydale High's dresscode? I mean, Buffy (as well as many other girls) wore very short skirts and incredibly thin strap shirts. I've been to quite a few schools and they all have the same rule of three finger width for straps and a maximum of 5 inches above the knee for skirts/shorts/dresses/skorts. I mean, girls can't dress like their favorite characters because of the difference of dresscode. So did the writers just not want to think about it? Or is Cali that different?
 
Well im guessing the girls at your school dont look like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter and so.I think maybe Snyder had a go at Buffy, I mean he moaned at everything else but ah well, eye candy and all (from our perspective, dont want to hink about Synder thinking about that)

Naw my old school had that 3 finger 5 inch dress code and I used to go to school in Cali
I'm pretty sure the writers just didn't want to think about it🙂
 
Yea, I agree.
In middle school the rule was that your shirt straps had to be only an inch wide, and the length of your shorts/skirts/dresses/skorts had to come down to your fingertips. But in high school here you're not allowed to wear even sleeveless shirts. 🙁
 
Hmm well in the UK we have uniforms up until college (which is optional learning anyway) so they sort of make sure the girls are dressed but the skirts keep getting shorter and the shirt buttons start becoming less used.

However in college we can wear what we want. Our college simply states "as long as it causes no offence to anyone else" so no racist etc shirts. Surprised that nobody moans about the short skirt some of the girls wear but ah well. The old boring men who run the college did try and get "FCUK" shirts banned, not that I wear any but it was stupid.
 
I don't know what it's like in Cali...
In Norway we don't really have any dresscodes at school...But I remember once there was a thing on the news about a school that made the girls wear big orange t-shirts if the teacher thought their top was too short...

My school makes people wear a big blue shirt if we violate the dresscode...it's terrible...but everyone still violates the dresscode...just don't get caught...or hey...even if they catch you, you can just take the blue shirt off, not like they know....
 
We can't have a lsiver of skin showing from our pants to our shirts...what if you lift your arms? I mean, are we supposed to wear moo-moos our entire school career or what? True, the fashions shown on Buffy are a bit risque for most schools...and it is in Cali...but...HEY people in the icey cold of north america {i.e. moi} want to dress in skirts and tanks...it's not that cold here. :hanged:
 
The only guidelines at my school were nothing advertising drugs/alcohol, and no tank tops as gum shirts. other than that it was anything goes, though one of my health teachers in junior high tried to enforce her own dresscode, calling girls into the hall and telling them they were dressed inapropriately, but everyone ignored her and she didn't have any real power anyway.
 
Haha, yes I did notice this dress code, or lack of I should say. A girl in my school had a skirt that was almost to her knees, and they wouldn't let her take her final because of it! Soo unfair! But I guess every school is different.
 
My school didn't have much of a dress code. As long as you wore clothes, it was okay. But my school was pretty big, so even if there were a strict dress code, I doubt they could've easily enforced it.
 
All schools are differnt....like mine, our shrits have to go 3 inches were the pants meet at the top, and no clevage reveling and out pants cant have holes in them, even in the knee...and the school one of my friends goes too, they could show a inch of skin in there stomach just standing, and they didn't have a realy strict one.....and other schools they don't have a dress code at all.....it just depends........and it's tv too
 
I'm Catholic School product, so it was always uniforms for me. But we would get in trouble for our socks not being pulled up, not wearing regulation shoes, untucked shirts (actually got detention for that one) or wearing a sweater over your white shirt that wasn't part of the uniform. It sucked in that respect, but I never had to worry about what I was going to wear.
 
I was supposed to go to a Catholic Highschool...some people say they'd got o get away from the dresscode, but as you said, Cordelia, it's almost as bad. Seriously, i think just as long as you don't go stark naked or dressed as a tramp, then you're OK.

...And whats even wrong with going naked....
