Supergirl

No, because that's in no what different to what we're actually getting, except it's a little brighter in color.

This is what I'm talking about, something in a style like this:

There's even a sports version:

I thought that looked less flattering. They look very skimpy.
Doesn't Supergirl have knees of steel or something? I doubt she'll have any issues with chafing wearing boots without leggings.

On the other hand I think pants might make more sense just from a practical 'not giving people a peak at my unmentionables' standpoint (if Supergirl was a 50's housewife and actually thought in those terms) if she was flying about wearing a skirt. Something in the comic won't nessesarily work in live action.

knees of steel.. too easy.. I will pass on that one.
Personally I think the stories and the supporting cast will be the key if I will like this or not.
The look of her costume feels like a non-issue to me... 🙂

Firstly hell in the blue hell has a thread about THE SUPERGIRL TV SHOW GOT TWO PAGES!!!

And second...WHY? The movie not only flopped but was one of the worse films in cinema history, not to knock the dead, but what the hell was Peter O'Toole thinking? Now if you don't mind I need to go and vomit up yesteredays lunch😀

Sounds familiar...heard that about Buffy herself a few times lol
Just because the movie flopped doesn't mean the TV show will. They're made by different people with different opinions on the character. Remember, the original Buffy movie was a flop.

The only reason I'm not into this is because I don't like superhero stuff, and seriously, there's a lot of it on TV right now. But I'm glad we're getting more female hero action, so at least there's that.

While not superheroes they are coming out with Broad Squad, a TV show set in the 70's about the first female patrol officers. The four main leads are, of course, female.
Outfit aside (Though @Lyri - your comment about still being able to be feminine in pants is my favorite 🙂 ), I've never been a huge Supergirl fan (as far as heros go) but would I still probably give ita few episodes before casting it aside? Probably.

I have to wonder if the fact that there are so many other superhero shows out right now would cause Supergirl to excel more because of the familiarity or whether it would actually be the downfall of the show, causing it to stay hidden among the already established shows....

Yeah, but say what you will about the other superhero shows, none of them are supergirl.. that fact alone I think will mean it wont stay hidden. If it's done well it could quite possibly be a ratings success.

Good points. And maybe the fact the film was such a bomb might means that the only way is up for the show, but I have pretty much zero interest in the idea.

I guess if there is one good thing that could come out of it it is that it may readdress the gender balance heaven knows the film didn't😳 I just think it was a bit of a box ticking exercise in the first place, like "well we have a superman for the boys, so lets do a female version for the girls"🙄 to me it just would have been better to have created a brand new female superhero instead of one who is like Superman only female.

Of course it doesn't, because she actually looks cool and like she's strong and could kick some ass.

So you are saying that supergirl doesnt look like she could kick some ass as is? That a skirt (or skort or whatever the hell she is wearing) cant kick ass and only pants can?

Yes I am but not because of the skirt because clearly the Supergirl I posted is wearing a kind of skirt, but the picture of the Supergirl costume you posted looks like it belongs with Adam West and a series that goes "thwap" and "kerplunk" or whatever when there's violence. For me it doesn't work, simple as that. Maybe that was a 'tough' look once upon a time but now, to me, she just looks like a little girl going to a costume party.

It looks that way because thats the era it's from.. the modern version looks more like this
but still, no pants..

Yes of course, but if they're re-launching Supergirl then her clothes could also get to leave that era.

I would be fine with that look if she - like Superman - could get to wear some pants. And if necessary they too could be underneath her underwear...

I have no issue with supergirl being in a skirt, that's how she is in the comics and that's how I expect to see her in any other media

I don't necessarily mind the skirt in and of itself, it's just in this case I mind the entire look and the skirt is a part of that. I just wish they'd be a bit braver with her look is all. I don't really think what looks good in the comics look good on a show or movie.

I can agree with that in principle... but on the same token, I thought seeing Superman without his underwear on the outside was just odd.. so, yes and no.
