To be fair I think the black costume is referring to the 'Daredevil' graphic novel by Frank Millar, it's just the one he starts out in.
The DD show writers have said that he'll eventually grow into the traditional red costume, just not right away. 🙂

1. I personally kind of like the retro feel of the costume shown in the original post. Maybe tweak it a bit, but the general idea I like.

2. Everyone always seem so concerned with factors like "more lead female representation in movies" and fail to notice other problems. For instance, wonder woman is getting a movie (great) but look who they cast? Some delicate pretty girl waif (Gal Gadot) that doesn't do justice to the wonder woman persona in the slightest. She's not intimidating and doesn't project "wonder woman" strength at all. She's beautiful, that I won't deny ever, but common...get over this thing with casting the most beautiful woman possible over someone far more fit for the particular role. Wonder woman should be a pillar of power and strength, strong looking, almost Amazon. The casting was horrible, yet all many people on the internet want to focus on is how women are getting more lead roles, bravo. Looking at this Supergirl....I don't know. Is that really the actress that will play Supergirl? Don't misunderstand me, I love pretty girls as much as the next guy, but too many of these women look like they'd cry over a broken nail. Can't they scout a physical looking female athlete or something like that instead? A woman with a little bit more of a physical presence on camera?

For different reasons, too many men are cast for the wrong reasons in comic movies/television too imo. I won't get into it here though.

As someone who doesn't know that much about WW I will bow down to your greater knowledge of the text. I never got the impression that she was really that strong a character, but I could be wrong. To me I think the problem is more that they need to create new superheroes for women. That is another reason why Buffy was so unique because she was a fresh female superheroe who could be relatable to teenage girls, but also have a lot of depth to her beyond that.

The problem with rebooting Supergirl or Wonder Woman is that they just feel dated now. And in the case of Supergirl she is always just going to be seen as a lesser version of Superman. Its time to move on IMO.

Completely agree. Basically, we need more female characters like Korra.

😱😱😱. All I knew her as was a model. I still don't think she looks like Wonder Woman AT ALL. Her features are too pretty and too delicate, not hard enough, too skinny and she's not nearly big/physical/intimidating looking enough, not in my opinion. She doesn't have any size or physical presence.

I have many, many years of fencing and martial fighting experience, not to get into it...but does that mean I have the physicality to be cast as Superman? Why not, I have the dark hair etc. right? Well, she wanted to do all of her stunts of FF(whatever) and they have her supposedly doing a ton of weight training... coupled with her background and considering what they did with Pratt (the left image is what the did with him, just in case.. ya know, I needed to clarify)

I'm really not too worried about how she will look. Honestly. I think there are FAR more pressing issues regarding the film than that. I'm confident she'll be fine.

Dam you if you do, dam you if you don't. Cast a pretty skinny blond, and people wonder why a more realistic, strong, athletic woman wasn't cast. Cast a strong athletic woman, people wonder why strong woman are always represented as "manly" and why they can't be more "feminine". That's the media for you. But ya, I completely agree with what you said. For some reason, seems like things are always more complicated when it comes to casting females. But in this case, it's just about proper casting for the roles. Nothing wrong with a blond skinny pretty girl (cough Buffy cough) being made into a superhero, but you gotta create the proper role for that. If you're gonna cast Wonder Woman (she's a dam Amazonian for god sake), you have to cast a woman that's gonna fit the description. I'm tired of seeing the same types of girls being represented times and times again, even when it doesn't even fit the role. We need variety. No need to remove the bad ass pretty girl from the screen, but there's a need to include all kinds of bad ass girls.

My opinion: two extremes, one being model, one being....Xena. wonder woman should be MUCH closer to Xena than to a runway model. Adding muscle and bulk is one part of it (and depending on the person only goes so far...and I'm doubtful about her frame)...but the hard looks is another.

When we have more to go on Mr. Pole, we can debate other elements to the movie. But for now, the casting is all I am aware of to discuss about it.

I thought it was a joke at first.. it felt like a riff on the SNL Black Widow 'movie' then I realized it was real. That is actually the OLD trailer.. from two days ago. The backlash was so great the released another one with more action. It's not much better, but I think part of that is the foul taste of the above trailer lingering on my soft palette.

I basically cringed the whole way through. If you're gonna make a TV show about a female superhero (the only one so far to have her own TV show to my knowledge), making her a ditsy blond with what seem like the IQ of a table lamp is not the way to do it. Maybe it's just the actress that isn't very charismatic. Every male superhero nowadays gets to be a badass broody hero. Girls get to be idiots apparently.

I hope to be proven wrong. It is possible that the trailer just gave a bad impression. 
"It's not a man" Cause I couldn't tell. I feel like they're just trying to cash in on the fact that she's a girl, therefore the show must be good.

I agree.. some people have said its the actress and reference her other work. I have no comment as I've never seen it. It feels very saccharine though.. I think its a result of them being afraid to take it seriously so it borders on the camp side of things. You can play it serious but light without going camp, but it does not feel that way to me in the trailers. Of course seeing Ally McBeal actually pulls me out of the scene. It breaks whatever connection I could have with it. I did forget that Eggs from True Blood was going to be in it until I saw the second trailer.
