Well there was Wonder Woman from the 70s. But yea i did not like this trailer. Looked like a terrible chick flick but she has powers. Did she just get these power's cause she b looked way to excited to have them and didn't really know how to use them. The chick is cute but not a good enough actress to pull off being a superhero let alone the lead. SMG was a small blond girl who occasionally had her ditsy moments but she made us believe that Buffy had powrrs and could kick your ass. I think I'm going to be the fool to watch this but it doesn't look good.

I must admit, my main reaction was "Holy crap, Ally McBeal?"

It very much reminds me of the SNL "Black Widow: Age of Me" skit trailer. It's 'The Devil Wears Prada"... if Anne Hathaway could fly.

Some of the action looks decent, I'm just not sure I can stomach it if it's as heavy on painful rom-com 'comedy' as the first trailer seems.

The second trailer is much better, although I think both are kind of over-sharing. Think I could pretty much skip the first episode after watching them.
 
I can't stand these "show everything" trailers, it feels like two episodes of plot are given away. Not exactly teasing you to watch it, now is it? And this show could clearly have used some teasing cause holy crap does it look terrible.

A few things that bugged me

1) Let's please all agree that the "now they're in glasses so they're frumpy/nerdy, now they're not in glasses so they're superheroes/hot" is a tired trope that needs to be put to sleep. It's really just offensive in terms of hot or not, but more significantly it's like the lamest superhero disguise ever! (Clark Kent is of course included in this) Look, I wear glasses, and when I don't not one time during the course of my life have people not recognized me because I wasn't wearing glasses and maybe slicked my hair back. It doesn't happen. So please. Glasses on at all times or never there at all! (and if it's a question of "it's not convenient to fly with glasses" then well, it's not exactly convenient to fly in a mini skirt either now is it?)

2) The "oh she's cute, but she doesn't really know she's cute" and she's so hapless when it comes to dressing herself and also has no idea that this guy always smiling strangely at her at work and asking her out to movies actually likes her.BORING. (And coincidentally is like the first person she tells about being a superhero? C'mon! Just have them like each other, or be exes or something.)

3) How generally hapless and pathetic she came across. (To be fair I'm not sure I like the actress all that much, I feel like this is how she just is. Based on what I saw on Glee)

4) The cheesy dialogue.

5) The catchphrase.

Honestly watching this trailer the only thing I was wondering was - why does it seem so hard to make a female-driven superhero show that has a modicum of seriousness about it? Smallville never felt like a joke like this one, neither does a show like Arrow. So what's the problem? What about the female lead makes it some how necessary for the tone of it to be campy or rom-comy? Is this truly what they believe will bring in a female audience?
Well, count me out.
 
I just saw the trailer this weekend, while at a superhero convention, and the feeling from that is people seem to be excited for it. I think it intends to be lighter than Arrow and more of a family show.
 
Good to hear at least some enthusiasm, even if it's from superhero fanatics at a convention.
I'm a bit worried for this show. Have mostly seen negative reactions so far on forums.

Personally so do I not want to judge it from a trailer.
I'll give it a few episode. That's the only way to know how it will shape up.

I kinda hope it will be a bit on the funny, cheesy side though.

Melissa Benoist tells Variety what appealed to her about her Supergirl role:

"She's a strong female and a female hero which I think is so important and will speak to so many people at this time right now in the world. I also was so drawn to her humanity, even though she is an extraterrestrial with powers. I was drawn to how flawed and complicated she is. She's more complicated than you see in superheroes nowadays. Greg breathed that life into her from the get-go. He even said to me in one of the auditions, 'She's like the Annie Hall of superheroes' - and that sealed the deal for me. I was like, yes!"​
 
I'll give it a shot for sure. I'm all for cheesy and funny, just so long as it's...ya know? Actually funny.
But yeah I'll definitely be giving it a try. I'm lacking in female led ass kicking shows at the moment.
 
The trailer (thuddingly unoriginal) makes it look worse than I feared...

Still might give it a go though, you can't judge just based on trailers.

If it looks worse than you imagined it (you imagined it pretty bad), you skip it and wait until it comes on DVD, and if you find it worse than the trailer, you can always burn it by setting a match to it :P
