I thought that some of you might be interested in this.

With the search for Superman stepping up S-V have heard that Bryan Singer has offered the role of Superman to Tom Welling! This will please many fans as he is BY FAR the most requested for the role (I have the emails to prove it!) and whether you like it or not he is the fan-favourite for the role and the subject of endless debates in Superforums all over the net.

Before you start getting too excited (or angry) bear in mind that Welling has shown a reluctancy towards playing SuperMAN and from what we hear from our source that is still the case and it is unlikely that he will accept. With Singer and the Donners on board and rumours of Christopher Reeve being involved Welling MIGHT change his mind but we haven't heard anything to indicate that is the case.

The offer is on the table and we believe it is a two picture deal. With Singer wanting to get his Superman soon he wants an answer within the next 2 - 3 weeks. Singer has already had meetings with other actors to discuss the role with Eddie Cibrian (Third Watch) and Christopher Douglas (Passions) being mentioned but has only offered the role to Welling.

I must be off my mark, I didn't even know that Bryan Singer was directing the movie.

At one point, my ex who was a total movie knowledge freak told me that David Boreanaz was being considered for this role at one point. Usually my ex was pretty good with his info, but I don't have a source right now.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek no no no no no lol i am the hugest superman fan ever so tom welling would have been a mistake..and i heard the DB rumours as well..while i love DB he is not superman.

It really should go to a no name actor that is my opinion.

I really love superman and would hate to see it botched by a bad role choice

Totally, he would be my choice as well, I still said he should have done Daredevil. If you have not seen the 'Evening With Kevin Smith' DVD you should check it out, lots of great stories, one of my faves being the Superman one, it comes in a close second to the Prince one.
 
I have he is amazing!!!! Alot of people do not agree with me lol so keep you on my side heh i have a huge comic book fan been one since i was a kid....so i won't spoil anything but I think the title of SUPERMAN LIVES would have been a great idea...after what happended in the comics...his idea was prue brilliant...

I can wait a few more years if that is what it takes to find a great cast and crew...

ya daredevil was botched big time...meh
 
It was the Spider that had me in fits 😀 There are some comic fans here as well as Kevin fans so your in the right place.

I don't know who I see as Superman, I wasn't keen when I heard that Brendan Fraser was in the loop.
 
On the one hand it would make sense to have Welling as Superman but then if we are meant to believe this is the same story it would mean Superman would look exactly the same as an adult as he did a teenager. I'd imagine it would be kinda boring, playing Superman all year round to play him during the summer as well, just older.
 
Christopher Douglas? No. I saw him on Passions and he has very little acting skills. If Tom Welling took the job would it interfere with production of Smallville?

as for smallville its awful lol well not great i mean i watch it but some of the storylines are prue awful with some great ones stuffed inbetween.

I love to watch it though...great watching clark develop...and john glover and michael R just freaking amaze the crap outta me i love them!

Spider-Man 2 was written by the main writer people of Smallville, whihc may explain its soppy loveyness (which is my main gripe)

Though I'd share.
 
I'm a huge fan of Smallville, but I don't want the movie to be connected at all.

Yes, it's true that DB was asked for the role fo Superman. I think he would make an awesome Batman, but he is not Superman material.
 
I remember there was a long thread here at Buffy-boards at one time concerning the Boreanaz as Superman rumour.

I always thought Marc Blucas would have made a great Superman.

I'm with you on that one, it just doesn't seem to fit him as Supes. Batman yeah.

Marc Blucas for some reason I always thought would be good as Flash.

That is true,I remember I read that on another board...but it was a long time ago,I wasn't even a member here...I remember all the girls from the other boards were so happy,and you couldn't catch a post that didn't mention spandex😛lol

I have heard of this Superman project since the tv series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" was taken off the air, and I always thought that the only one I would be satisfied with playing the role is Dean Cain, and for Lois Lane, it would be Teri Hatcher. Period. I would accept David Boreanaz...

I sincerely doubt that Welling will be authorised in taking the role. I read that with the Lois Lane in SmallVille will NEVER meet Lex Luthor since it would screw up the movie (cause in the movie, it is said that Lois will meet Lex for the first time !).

That was when they were still going with the JJ Abrams script. I think this rule has changed, since now the movie will be continous from the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

I didn't really like Dean Cain as Superman, but Terri Hatcher is the definitive Lois Lane.
