been looking at yahoo movies 🙂 they have a clip of superman returns
was just woundering if anyones seen it ?

i personaly think the guy they have for the new movie doesnt look like the right guy for the job......

tom on smallville now he LOOKS like superman 🙂 give me your opinions 🙂

oh also seen trailer for the game for it 🙂 man looks totaly mint, gonna get it when its out 🙂

OK, first and foremost...Christopher Reeves is, was and always will be Superman to me.

Secondly, Tom Welling is a good Young Clark, but only physically....i love Smallville, but not because of him OR Lana(shoot her please).
He gets very whiny for me.

Now i saw a promo pic of this new guy who i can't remember the name of and probably won't because not actually caring, but what got me was the guys arms. Either heavy duty touch-ups in the photolab or padding had made this guy appear far more 'Super' then he actually was...and i don't like that one bit.

The ONLY draw to this movie for me is Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.......i love Lex(although i like in Smallville i HOPE Spacey's Lex is akin to Hackman in the Movies) and i adore Kevin Spacey......
 
Not too interested. Superman looks too goody-goody, all American boy here. At least Smallville makes Clark complex. But it is directed by Bryan Singer, so crossing my fingers that it'll be good.
 
I've never been crazy about Supes, but I've actually gotten more interested as I've read more about Siegel and Shuster and comic book history.

I can't say much about the movie other than I think it looks good. Literally. I personally love the look of the trailer, the muted colors. Superman's costume is interesting. Lots of fanboys hate it, but I like the sort of 40s retro effect, the maroon cape and boots. The very small "S" chestplate. But it's still got a very bright, clear blue for the tights...I think it would work better if they'd actually use the hue that's the background for the movie website. It's kind of a darker, diluted cyan, some black mixed in. The maroon "S" looks great against that. And I don't like the small round collar. (don't normally go on about fashion this way, lol. Only with superheros).

I have no opinion about Brandon Routh. I hope he can act. I think Singer's a good director, gets smart, subtle performances out of his actors.

yeeeeeeeeeahhhhhhhh i got superman movies 1-4 yesterday on dvd man they rule christopher reeve rules 😀 hes so handsome 🙂 watched the 1st one thismorning 😀 second one is the one with those 3 people dudes from krypton 😀 SUPERMAN RULES 😀
 
I think #2 may be my fave. Haven't seen 3, 4. Zod is great. Terrence Stamp is the coolest.
 
Nope, not looking forward to this at all....nope. 😛

Will reserve judgement on Brandon Routh until the movie has been seen. Hope he does a good job, as he's got some large and heavy shoes to fill. Chris Reeve is the standard by which all will be measured (says the master of understatement).

And hey, cheer up....at least it's not Nicholas Cage.

I'm always looking forward to things about comics characters...i love them...and superman is one of the best! there's already been a lot of projects around this character...movies,tvshows etc...so i hope it won't be too much deja vu...🙂
 
I await along with my fellow Supes fans. I know you can't really judge a movie by it's trailer, but the new trailer makes it look great nonetheless. This movie looks like it could be a winner.

Re-watching my Superman 1 and 2 DVDs ( I hate 3 and 4) in preparation for the new movie, it makes me wish they'd re-release these things as Extended/uncut Special Editions, right around the time of the release of the new film. Those two Supes films have always had deleted scenes that I wished would be reincorporated. Although the first Supes DVD has most of it's scenes restored....they still left out Miss Teschmacher being saved from the pit of tigers near the end, as well as the Kryptonian criminal "Non" being cut out of the beginning sequence with Jor-El.

Now, I'd like to be corrected if I'm wrong here.....because perhaps I was hallucinating the first time I saw this years ago....but wasn't there a scene where Supes destroyed the Fortress after defeating the three Kryptonian criminals? Also I seem to remember those same criminals forcibly busting through the Fortress' force-shield, and General Zod picking up and using an M-16 in the White House battle. None of these scenes seems to exist in any medium. I really do hate when scenes go missing.
 
hummm i donno.... i wasnt born when they were relesed.... so only got the dvd relese.... got classical fms movie thingy cds today 🙂 yeah got the superman movie theme on 😀

i know what you mean old master 🙂 this tralier looks pretty impressive lets hope the full movie lives up to it 🙂 and if so this movie is going to rock !!!

cant belive general zod has possesed lex..... and hes traped clark in the same prison his farther jor-el traped him in..... noooo i must see more.... a year i have to wait..... nooooo well got seasons 1-5 to watch lol.... and new movie .. so... i guess.... no i cant wait... lol and calm.... 😀

OM, did all those scenes make it into the actual theatrical release? I feel like I can remember seeing a "regular" version on TV, and also, they'd occasionally show a waaay extended version. With commercials, it seemed like it was at least 3 hours long, maybe more...

For those of you unfamiliar with Superman II's checkered past, a little history. Superman and Superman II were originally conceived as one film project. The films were, at the start, shot simultaneously and worked as parts One and Two of the same story. When Superman hurled the nuclear missle into space at the end of the first film, THAT's what released the villains from the Phantom Zone to come back in the second film. For a complete description of what the films should have been and what went wrong, visit the excellent Superman Cinema site or Donner's Superman.

Unfortunately, during production, the whole project was falling behind schedule and it was decided to concentrate all efforts on completing Superman I in order to make the release date. Plus, there was all sorts of bad blood, backstabbing, and politics going on behind the scenes, thanks to Alexander and Ilya Salkind, the producers. When it came time to complete Superman II, director Richard Donner was replaced by Richard Lester. In order to get Donner's name off the credits, lots of changes were made, such as how the villains escaped, how Lois figures out Clark is Superman, and how she sets out to prove it. There's some real jewels in the vaults at the WB, such as Lois jumping out of a window at the Daily Planet to prove that Clark is Superman, and all of Brando's scenes from Superman II. That's right, Brando. All of it was shot by Donner, but none of it was ever used due to a contract dispute. Much of what Donner had already shot was rewritten and reshot. And this only scratches the surface of what happened.

Two years ago, Warner Bros. thankfully let Donner create his own Director's Cut of Superman I for the DVD release. But they only did half the job. The superb extras talked all about the above situation with Superman II, but for some odd reason WB didn't take the next logical step and let Donner finally create a Director's Cut of that film, too.

Ahh, you have my thanks, Goldenboy. It's a damn shame really, when grown people must carry on in such a ridiculous way. Think of how much more of an excellent film Superman 2 could have been had Donner been around to helm it's completion.

And about those missing scenes.....I am told that all the scenes I described were never presented theatrically. When Superman 2 was first broadcast on American television, those scenes were added in. However, over the ensuing years subsequent TV broadcasts did not have them. I guess those were Donner scenes.

It is to my understanding that there might be a Donner Director's Cut of Supes 2 coming up soon, but don't quote me on that, I'm still looking to see if it's true.....

Well, that IS the current box set, but it's the same versions that have been in circulation for the last few years.

Master K, I gotta ask ya, did you really enjoy parts 3 and 4? I'd like to hear what your opinion is. I myself can't stand part 3. I mean come on....Richard Pryor in a Supes film is like putting ice cream into a ham and cheese sandwich. It's just not natural. 😛

well old master.... i have to agree with you on 1 and 2 being the better movies... 4 was a little far streached with the nuclear man..... come on nails??? and hair bad combo..... 3 was slightly better... but again decending to 4th movie quality.... but i can still bare to watchem 🙂
