yes master kenobi, I love superman too! And i cant wait to see it!! its gonna be awesome... did you know they had to reduce his crotch cos it was too big in the suit.. ha ha anyways

Like Goldenboy, I too might be watching it tommorrow, as it's my day off. I'll give a detailed review afterwards. The early buzz has been favorable, so I don't expect any dissapointments.

For the sake of Master Kenobi, who can't see this movie yet, I'll keep this post short and nondescript. 😛

I saw Superman Returns earlier tonight, and......
.....what an EXCELLENT motion picture!!! Very enjoyable! Lots of homages to the old movies, comic books, and television series, if you know what you're looking at. This movie just simply kicked rump!

For the nitpickers and naysayers out there, go write your own frelling script!

OK so I'm not gonna read anything you guys have posted cause I haven't seen it waaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! BUT I WILL don't worry. Although I've got to say the new Superman is not very attractive! Maybe if they cast Tom Wellings I'd be a tiny bit more enthused but nevertheless it is Superman so I'll go and see it!

I saw yesterday and I think really excellent!I loved it! Brandon routh is a good choice,he kinda looks like christopher reeve...maybe it's just me?

As much as I loved this flick....I gotta admit I don't know if I was feeling the Kate Bosworth version of Lois Lane. I mean I like Kate Bosworth, don't get me wrong, but something was missing. What say you, MK?
 
I think she was a weak link in the chain. She just didn't have enough spunk, that "oomph" you need for Lois. I didn't buy her as an experienced, Pulitzer Prize-winning go-getter. Why not use Parker Posey for Lois? She's a little too old now I guess...not a conventional leading lady. But she's got presence.

I was surprised at how good James Marsden was in his little nothing part as the boyfriend.
 
Agreed, Parker Posey is too seasoned...although she's always excellent....and Kate Bosworth is too young.

Now, I can understand that parenthood will center and focus a person, I can buy that, but I wouldn't think that the whole personality dynamic would change so drastically. Bosworth's Lois seemed too subdued.

Erica Durance from Smallville has the right idea...although she can go a little over the top with it at times. I'm thinking they should have considered Erica for this.

Like Goldenboy, I too enjoyed Marsden's performance in this. I was expecting your usual stuck up heir to the empire type....but his character turned out to be a cool dude.
 
It's obvious the studios are reviving the Superman movie franchise so they had to go with a young Lois Lane. But I do agree Kate Bosworth did not give the "fiesty reporter" vibe to the role. It was a fluff casting decision and I don't mean to start an argument but a true brunette should have gotten the role. Even with a wig Kate is blonde and there is the stereotype assosciated.
As for Parker Posey...I just love her in anything she does! Her guest role on Boston Legal was just outstanding!
As for Marsden I think he is not going to be so cool when he finds out that Sups is the daddy.
 
What did you guys think of all the Christ imagery, themes? Too much? Just right? Heh. Superman returns to Earth, is "scourged", beaten to a pulp by Lex's henchmen, recovers enough to hurl a giant land mass into space, save North America. Passes out in a Christ-like pose, lands in the hospital, "rises" when no one's around and disappears. Shows up a little later no worse for the wear. Plus the little "son becomes the father, the father becomes the son" soliloquy Supes gives to his sleeping kid...
 
yeah i have to agree on Kate Bosworth being too younge.... she also reminded me of natile portman ...... louis in original superman was older looking and she had the bite the reporter instinct the drive not like kate... she seems too ....soft and why did she agree with perry on superman story.
The louis we know whould fight for that power out story,.... humm has mother hood soffend her?

I also have to say im impressed with james in this movie too, lol wel hes got a part lol. but yes very impressive but i would also like to see how he takes it when he finds out hes not the farther......

the farther son chatt thing to hes sleeping kid is what ger-el told him when he was ready to be superman.

so does this mean we get another superman movie 😀

also im sooo pleased they kept reeves things in the movie 🙂 but he does do the ending wrong.... when he turns ( flying) reeve put his arm over his head and brayndon didnt.... minor details... also soo glad they kept the starting sequence 😀

going to see again on friday , prob have more to say then when iv had a second look lol 😀

oh also..... we didt see much of clark ????

and seen an episode of adventures of superman and that clarks too cool, not geeky.... just thought id say lol

Erica Durance rocks but lois shouldnt be one of the characters of smallville...i think it's too soon...
