Supermoon

If anyone is interested there is a Supersized moon on view this year. For the last two nights it has been visible so tonight is another opportunity to see it. Later this year will be another good time; The 10th of August.

What all the fuss is about is that because the moon's orbit is a slightly ovoid orbit (non circular) the moon this year is the closest it has been to the earth for 14 years.

I watch the moon rise last night, it was beautiful. It did appear to be bigger than usual, and it was orange. It was pretty cool!
