Honestly I have absolutely no idea. I literally just got into the show properly this past week, I have no involvement at all in the fandom. However, if I was to rely on Fandom!Secrets on LJ as a way of assessing the fandom I would say there is a substantial number who will NOT be appearing on the cover of Sanity Fair anytime soon.

Lol I love that there's normally so many Spn secrets on Fandom!Secrets.

LJ is the only place I go for the supernatural fandom and there is probably only one community that I've seen that only really seems to have sane fans (and don't have an irrational hate for Misha Collins/Castiel ::nono1:🙂. But seriously if you want to see sane fans then DO NOT go to places like Dean_Sam or Spn_Gossip, those places bring out all the crazies!

Not sure when the things I'm mentioning starts (I'm not that big of a fan and have a lousy memory) but it certainly stretches to the latest episodes. But it's not a big spoiler as such.

I have to admit that I love all the stuff they put in the show about fandom in general and crazy fangirls with some certain fantasies. Good fun.

Well, I just finished Season 2...WOW. Craziness! I freaked out when Sam died...it was horrible. *sniff sniff* I cried.

Dean sold his soul for his brother? How could be do that to him, after his father did that to him? How is Sam going to get him out of this one? Dean, Dean...you bad boy, you.

It was nice to see their father back for one last time, even if it was just his ghost.

btw, I totally saw it coming that Ava girl was evil...

I'm excited for the next season!

I can see why Dean did it. Sam is the most important thing in his life, he doesn't see what he's doing as wrong until Sam points it out. He just sees the opportunity to save his brother and he takes it. If I was in Dean's shoes, and had the chance to save my little sister, I'd take it, without a second thought, no matter what the cost was, even my own life.

For me, the Winchesters main failing is their wreckless need to sacrifice themselves, especially for each other. So much goes so spectacularly wrong because of what they do to for each other. I can't decide if it is incredibly noble or incredibly arrogant. I think they walk the line with it.

Their loyalty is, at times, beautiful but I think there should be a line. I also think the Buffyverse colours my view of this because they do the opposite most of the time, they are big picture world savers. The mission is what counts. Maybe the Buffyverse and Supernatural should meet in the middle to find a happy medium? 😉

Dean's blind and utter devotion and desire to protect Sam no matter the price reminds me of how Buffy felt about Dawn circa S5. Like Joyce asked of Buffy, John asked Dean to protect Sam and to save him, and if that wasn't possible, to kill him. Lyri is right; Sam is Dean's life. He is all he has left. Even if how he acts regarding his brother is arrogant or noble, either way, he act couldn't act any other way. Like Buffy with Dawn, Dean just simply couldn't let Sam die.

I love shows that have a lot at stake. This show certainly does. It keeps me interested and engaged.

There seems to be a role-reversal gong on with the two. Dean is becoming disillusioned with the mission and with the hunting, and is resentful of all he has to personally sacrifice in order to save people, while Sam is becoming more and more angry (and more unpredictable) and eager to continue fighting and hunting. Are his visions causing the rage, or is it something else? He killed the demon that killed Jessica, John, and his mother, yet his blood-lust for revenge doesn't seem to have waned.

Also, I know I've mentioned this before but the sexual subtext in this show is waayyy over the top. It's my only complaint. I get what they're trying to do, but it's not funny IMO when it's between brothers! (Ew) Seems like fan-service to me. If I made a list of how many times it's hinted that they're a gay couple, the list would be long, lol.

True, however, when Buffy returns she tells Giles if she found herself standing on that tower again she would let Dawn jump. No matter how noble the motivation the reality of their choices has cataclysmic consequences. I can't really say anymore without spoiling 😉

As for the homoerotic undertones between the brothers goes, it is total fan service, IMO.

The stupid network that shows supernatural here in Australia has taken it off indefinently! Five episodes into season five and its gone for who knows how long!

I LOVE this show. Have since the first season, and it was my obsession before my renewed Buffy obsession (and you see how much I obsess over that).

But I have to say.... sexual subtext? *Blinks* Maybe I've been willfully ignoring it because I hate Wincest, but I never thought there was any real subtext between the two. The gay jokes are hilarious (Like when the innkeeper asked if they wanted a king-size bed in Playthings, or in Something Wicked when Dean asked for two queens and the kid said "Yeah, I bet."). Those both still make me laugh every time I see them, but I didn't take them as sexual subtext.

Speaking of Playthings, you know what else cracks me up every single time? When they're in the room with the old lady who had a stroke, and Dean thinks she's faking it. So Sam asks, "What do you want to do, poke her with a stick?" And Dean totally looks like he's considering it, so Sam goes, "Dude, you're not gonna poke her with a stick!"

I've met Bobby and love him already. Kind of reminds me of Giles.

It was sad the way John died for Dean. 🙁

Looking forward to season 2.
