I was screaming silently (cause my mom was sleeping) all during the episode!!!!! Quick recap (beware of my use of exclamation points):
Sam and Lucifer at the beginning was so sad... He was losing it big time and it was so hard to see. Tears were already in my eyes at that point.
Then there was the car accident. I was barely breathing at that point.
When he was in the psychiatric ward I wanted to punch Luci so hard for doing this to him... I never blamed Cas much for breaking the wall, he was just defending his idea at that point. But my Sammy being about to break down for good was killing me... I still had tears in my eyes then.
I'm gonna skip the search for something and get right down to the best part: Cas being Emanuel.... OMG OMG OMG OMG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He had lost his memory but he was still the same... He was reacting exactly how he used to!!! Even Dean's joke in the car took him a while to understand but then he was like "oh." and smiled (totally in love).
Meg was... she was a big WTF!!!! But I've been sick of her since the 2nd time she came back so....
Sam helping the girl broke my heart. Even in his deepest pain, in his worst moment, he was still helping someone else.... Crying a little by then.
When Cas remembered who he was and killed the demons I was cheering BIG TIME! And when Dean gave him the trenchcoat back... My breath caught in my throat and so many emotions at that moment... Unexplainable!
I had a hard time breathing when the demony-nurse electrocuted Sam 🙁 but when Cas helped him and switched place with him I cried my eyes out....
Not the best episode but it was the best we could hope for with Cas' return. But.... I wanted the trenchcoat moment to last longer... A real Destiel moment with the emotions in their eyes.... It was still worth the wait, though!!!!

I'm sorry... but no. The Dean hate going around is so irrational and it's making me want to punch my fist through a wall.
First of all, I know this isn't mentioned in your post... but Dean is getting hate for it and I'm going to defend it. He had to leave Cas there. He explained to Sam that it was the only option, and he was right. Go back and listen to what he said and tell me he's wrong.
Next... The "all our friends are dead" line. Seriously? Semantics semantics. Right now, Cas is locked up in an institution because he's so crippled by Lucifer that he can't do anything. He's not dead, but he might as well be in terms of helping. I know that sounds awful, but it's what's the truth here... Also, Dean's been used to Cas being dead for so long, that he probably wasn't thinking of Cas when he said that. I just don't think this line requires getting all pissy like "WHO ARE YOU DEAN TO SAY SUCH THINGS!"

Sorry, I had to rant. The fandom is driving me nuts right now. Has been since last night. This is the first major thing that has happened since I joined the fandom... and I've found I love this fandom when nothing happens... but as soon as something happens, everyone turns into five year old assbutts. It's driving me insane.
As for my review on the episode:
I thought it was fantastic. Just blew my mind. Quality television up in there! I loved Luci so much in this episode. KAAKLJKLDSFJLDSKFJSKLDFJKLDSJFLK I wish everyone in the world watched Supernatural so it would be more socially acceptable to scream "I LOVE LUCIFER" at the top of your lungs to everyone you meet. hahaha This episode filled me with feelings of I love Lucifer.
I LOVED the girl Sam helped and I hope we get to see her again. I don't know why we would other than she was awesome, but I hope we do. Because I adore her to pieces.
Cas. Cas. Cas. CAS! I loved how he was so season4!Cas when he was Emmanuel. Misha said he would be... but it was more than I had hoped. It felt like the good old days. "Is that a flirtation?" KLJSKLDJSFKL😀JKLDSJKLDSFK I will never not adore that line. I also loved how he turned to Meg and said "that must be very difficult for you" when Dean made that joke about Meg being awkward. KDSLJFLKSDJF
Then the "Am I Cas?" scene was flawless. Then the montage... which... I cannot explain the feelings. And then he was so guilt ridden. AND THE COAT! KLDSFJLSKDFJLKFD This is the part that even though I've watched it three times, I still have so many feelings I can barely think straight. I can't express them better than slamming random letters on my keyboard because I don't even know what they are. KLJDSFKDJFKL I'm honestly trying and that's what I keep coming up with. AHHHHH
I love how many times he said he was sorry about Sam. I wish we could have heard Dean say he was sorry to Cas too... but it would be OOC for Dean to do that, so I'm ok with it. It was one of the most heartbreaking things though to see Cas transfer Sam's hell to himself. I had read a theory about that happening online, so I had sort of prepared myself for what that would be like... and I'm glad I did, because it was hard enough after doing that. I can't imagine how hard that scene would be to watch if I hadn't.

I just loved this episode - the return of Cas!!! Seeing them all together again, even for those brief few moments was great. I loved the scenes in Deans car, and that montage when
looking forward to next week!
Cas remembers all his past - its was perfect!

I agree. No reason in dragging around a crazy angel. I don't see the hate as irrational though, his decision didn't make sense to a lot of people, including me.
It's a harsh thing to say, even out of Dean's mouth. It's like saying that Cas is dead to Dean even after all that he has done. Sam was also, "locked up in an institution because he's so crippled by Lucifer that he can't do anything," but Dean still managed to save him. Sam is his brother, I know, but Cas is his friend, who has done a lot for him that I'm not even going to get into. What happened to "family don't end with blood."? Or is that dead too.
Sorry I had to rant as well, but this aggravates me too. This fandom can be crazy and annoying at times, but five year old assbutts? Lol I hope you're not referring to me, but I see what you mean.
The fandom is so split between Cas fans, Sam fans, and Dean fans. That is what drives me crazy. Personally, I love em all. Cas is one that I emphasize with especially and specifically in this circumstance, but I really am a fan of the show not a single character.
Let's just hope that this 3 episode arc leaves everyone more satisfied.

I don't see how it didn't make sense though. It made perfect sense. Like I said and have been saying since as soon as it aired, listen to what Dean said and tell me he's wrong. He's not, you just agreed that. I just think everyone's getting super emotional because this is Cas and not thinking rationally. That is what I meant by "irrational."
Do people really have such little faith in Dean that you think this is over? Cas is in three more episodes this season, and they're not consecutive so this arc will grow and develop even in the ones he's not in. That means this isn't over. Like I said, I don't think Dean meant to include Cas in there... Sam will always be Dean's number 1 priority... but I honestly don't believe Dean's not going to help Cas. I'm also pretty sure by this point, Dean didn't know how he felt towards Cas. Cas was family, yes... but the last time they spoke about that, Cas said "you're not my family Dean." Straight up. See it through Dean's eyes for a second. He had just teamed up with Meg to help with this mission because everyone else he loved and trusted was either the one who needed saving (Sam), dead, or Cas... who Dean was pretty sure had been dead for months. And last they spoke... trusting Cas wasn't really something Dean was doing.
I think Dean deserves credit for this episode. As soon as Cas became himself again, Dean stopped judging as best he could. But Dean is a judgmental man by nature. He holds strong grudges against people who hurt his family... especially Sam. He did all that can be expected of Dean in this episode to not judge Cas as the enemy. Does he not get credit for that?
No, I wasn't referring to you. I was mainly referring to the people on tumblr who have been saying they no longer want to watch the show... or that Sera Gamble should never write anything again. To be honest, I don't understand be mad at any character after this episode. All of them were flawless. The best traits in all of them shined through so bright. Dean's loyalty to Sam, Sam's good nature and will to help, Cas's strength. I admire them all right now so much. It hurts that there are people who seem to only see the bad.
I'm a Dean girl, but as I just explained... I love them all. Sam is my least favorite because he can get a little whiny and REALLY broody... but I adore him with all my heart. I get having an extreme devotion to one character in specific... I see the story through Dean's eyes primarily... but I don't get hating on another character. Some shows I get that with... but not Supernatural. Supernatural isn't a show where you're "team so-and-so." It's a show where you have preferences... but you should love everyone. They're a family. No one's really pitted against each other, and even when they are, they're still a family.

Wait, what??? There are people who hate Sam, Dean or Cas??? And who love only one of the three??? How can they do that??? They're a package, you can't hate on one of them!!! Sam and Dean would do anything for each other and Dean and Castiel belong with each other (everything is Destiel and nothing hurts!!!!!😀) and Balthazar is the funniest angel ever!!!! yeah I know he's been gone for a while but I miss him 🙁

Yes I know. They're my OTP too... it's just... their story is tragic and full of pain! When everything is Destiel, my heart is clenching in pain! hahaha even if it's just because I remember they're not technically canon. yeah but everything hurts in SPN. Do you remember the 3 first seasons? John died, then Sam died, then Dean died... It's a writers favorite to make us suffer. But Destiel is like the light of hope at the end of the tunnel. No matter what, they love each other. Even at his darkest moment
, Cas did everything for Dean. He's like Kripke's version of Anakin Skywalker! He turned to the dark side of the force to save the world (according to his beliefs). He did it for love.
So yeah, Destiel angst hurts but what wouldn't we give for those few moments when they look at each other and you can just feel how much they're in love!

and just to had a little on the Star Wars parallels, Eric Kripke stated in the commentaries of the first season that Sam was supposed to be the "Anakin" of SPN and Dean was supposed to represent Han Solo. But when you look how it turned out, Sam never embraced Anakin's destiny, as he never went truly dark.
As to see if Dean did turn out as Han Solo, I would have to rewatch Star Wars: the Phantom Menace, for I don't remember the guy much (it's been a whiiiiiiiiiiiiile since I last watched it)
