hullo duckies (crappy Drusilla imitation AGAIN),

I just finished watching this show SUPERSTAR USA on the WB. It's a funny spin on American Idol. Instead of the best singers, they are looking for the WORST and it is a riot. They sing for a contract and a $100,000 advance. Here's the gag: It's a JOKE! The contestants don't find out until the last episode that they've been making idiots of themselves on TV for everyone's sick amusement. I can picture Willow on the show and the host saying, "Congrats, Will. You suck the worst. But you get a contract and $100,000 for being a good sport." I bet she then becomes Evil Witch ***** and lets everyone have it. That may be an amusing story idea. What do we think? 😎

I think its funny, but its kinda mean. I always feel so bad for the people on these shows that get turned away. And then now these really bad people are going to think they're really good, and then they'll find out that the people were just making fun of them the whole time...

I was rooting for Jamie Foss the whole time. I think she has everything a "superstar" needs, minus the good voice. She didn't even seem upset. They gave her 100,000 dollars and a recording deal and were like "by the way, you suck" and she was still happy. I'd be happy too. I wonder if she's actually gunna make a CD though...

*calls to angel loving angry mob*

hey their watching the gorram that replaced Angel, and their liking it!!

*calls to not so fussed about angel slightly miffed mob*

hey they like reality tv lets hit them with sticks!

I'm with ya Faldor! Can't believe people are enjoying reality TV... especially reality TV that replaced ANGEL! Come on you guys! Get a life! 😛

Hey guys, Angel would be over by now anyway because it would have reached the season finale already. And it's not like the show is gunna be on next year. What's the big deal? You guys get a life...

Faldor, pull your damn head out of your ass. you're on such a high horse and think that you're better than everyone when you're really not. just because you dont like something doesnt mean you have to bother others. your sarcastic comments are sickening and no one here likes you anyway.

elmo: i didnt mean "you get a life" meanly cuz I know that you aren't a mean person. I was kidding around like I'm sure you were.

I don't think there's anything wrong with reality tv. I do think there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with tv shows that traumatize EVERY SINGLE PERSON INVOLVED, and there must be something wrong with people who actually enjoy them. They tell talented people that they suck, possibly making them give up for good. Then they glorify people with no talent before shooting them down. It's absolutely disgusting.

You gotta wonder how the WB makes their important decisions. Do they all get high before a meeting, come in and say "Hey, let's cancel Angel even though it's one of our highest rated and most critically acclaimed shows, just to piss off the fanbase, thereby losing thousands of viewers from our network. Then let's waste millions of dollars on that elaborate hoax called WB Superstar USA, which no one with ANY TASTE AT ALL would ever watch. Let's go kill some more dreams...."

Mr Elvis, you make good points and i hate to disagree with anyone with such a cool screen name but:

would you really cool the people that win pop idol etc talented?

talented people form bands they dont roll up to a TV audition and say "make me famous"

Well, that wasn't really my point...but, since you brought it up. I can't tell you about Pop Idol because I live in the states, but the recent winner of American Idol, Fantasia Barrino, is an incredible singer and a magnificent stage presence. I think Simon Cowell hit the nail when he said that Fantasia didn't even need the competition to become a star. She could have gone to any studio and they would have given her a recording contract with no hesitation.

Thanks for the compliment on my screen name(although I am neither fat nor much of an Elvis fan)

american idol pop idol, all the same thing, just more britney spears type teenie boppers singing kareoke on a bigger budget.

i mean we dont even get hot chicks to get shoved in our faces.
just gay men!

dont get me wrong, i have nothing against gay men, but if im going to get shoved in my face someone who cant play an instument, write their own songs or not be irritating on every magazine, TV show, radio, coco pop. i'd atleast want it to be somone who's nice to look at !

this is just the backlash of everyone moaning big brother is full of idiots that want to be famous.

there was a far better one off show here which was a documentary about a guy who tried to start his TV career with a bang. he convinced 10 people he was producing a reality TV show and the contestants couldnt know the challenge, to be in the show they all gave up their acomadation and jobs. the crew where all made up of ameatures also wanting to cross over to proffesional.

so when he starts filming the first episode he tells the now homeless, jobless contestants that to the challenge was thus:

earn a million pounds, the theory was it takes 10 years to make £1000 000 so 10 people could do it in 12 months.

it was about this time most of the contestants realised the **** had hit the fan and it was a fluke.

however, one group of fame seekers thought it would be a good idea to try and continue to make their own TV show, seeing as how they had all the equipment, they did this, which basically consisted of them doing not alot and the highlight being them watching big brother. erm...

I like Faldor too! He's funny and he always knows how to cheer me up. I like the way he jests. It's just the way he is... I don't judge you for the way you are! Do I?

I was only kidding when I said "Get a life!" But it doesn't mean that I was only kidding when I was poking fun at the Pop Idol culture as it were. Some of the people truely are good singers but they should work their way to fame... the way that all of us musicians work. Some of them haven't even had a single lesson and can't read a single note. I'm not saying that I want to be famous. 😛 I'm just saying that I don't agree with people turning up and saying "Give me a record deal cos I have a pretty face!". My other point was that it's taking Angel's place... and I'm very bitter about that! Sorry, didn't mean to get on anyone's nerves!

*sigh* Faldor, you've completely lost me. Fantasia is neither a teenie-bopper pop singer nor annoying. She has a classic voice and she's beautiful.

Apparently Superstars stunk the place place out as far as ratings are concerned.

I copied this from somewhere. Can't remember where:

Last week's premiere of Superstar USA beat out UPN's Monday comedy block, but nothing else, finishing in 88th place with 3.5 million viewers. The next night's episode also ran fifth in its time slot, with 3.7 million viewers (87th place overall).

The most recent installment--airing Monday night--fared even worse, running dead-last sixth

Btw, mark me down in the "Fantasia is amazing" camp.

never heard of this fantasia, but the **** these programmes are producing this side of the pond, im in no rush.

why should these people get instand reconition when all the genuine artists are working their arses off for years on the festival circuit??

why should these people get instand reconition when all the genuine artists are working their arses off for years on the festival circuit??

Um....because they went and auditioned?

If these hardworking artists want instant recognition, that's all they have to do. If they are good enough and the general public accepts them, than they could be the next big thing. I just can't figure out what your problem is with this very simple concept.

Oh, and Fantasia's as genuine as they come.
