Are there any that you follow?
I always knock on wood. I hate people tempting fate, and always make people (who I know well, not just complete strangers 😛) tap on wood when they tempt fate!

Is there anything you do, even though you know it's ridiculous?
I will NEVER, EVER say "Candyman" 3 times into a mirror at midnight. That's not even a superstition, it's a stupid film, but I won't, just in case, haha.

Or do you think it's all complete rubbish?

haha I won't say Candyman 3 times either!
I think they're all complete rubbish, but not walking under a ladder seems like common sense really so I adhere to that one. I also avoid cracks in the pavement but that's more a compulsion than a superstition.

good thought about the ladder thing!
Mostly, I think they're all completely stupid. I used to actually go out of my way to walk under ladders until my sister told me that that superstition came about because people didn't want the person up the ladder to drop something on their heads. Now I think it's quite sensible to not walk under ladders, lol.

Friday 13th never bothered me, because my birthday has been on Friday 13th more times than I can remember, and it gets a bit old after a while.

The only thing I do is I always, ALWAYS, salute a magpie. But that's more because it was something my grandfather used to do, not because I think it's going to bring me good luck or anything.

I will not look into a mirror in the complete dark, because of a scary story I read.

I will not say bloody Mary in a mirror at midnight (like your candyman thing).

I like "tempting" fate other ways though, I always run under ladders around my superstitus friends, I own two black cats, and my favorite number is 13.

I do that EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch the 'Bloody Mary' Supernatural ep. It's like a tradition all of my own, lol. Is that tempting fate? LMAO

I have no superstitions, etc. However, my family members are a different story. My mother always used to yell at me for puting my brand new sneakers on the table 😛 and the umbrella thing......my grandmother....i could go on for days on how much BS she believes or goes by lol

I grew up with a black cat and people were always telling me thats why I had bad luck. I was like really? Seriously you're going to blame a cat??

Anyway I don't believe in them but I do some of them anyway haha. I throw salt over my shoulder when I spill it just because its fun to throw salt lol although I as a kid I could never remember what shoulder you're supposed to do.

I used to avoid cracks and sometimes lines (though sometimes I stepped on lines on purpose to get back at my dad) as a kid. Mostly though I avoided the cracks out of OCD.

Oh and I knock on wood.

I know theyre silly and pointless but I still do them lol

Thanks to my mom....I always knock on wood, you know, not to jinx something. Don't ever put a hat on the bed, or open an umbrella in the house. Also, I avoid anything like "never" when referring to the future.... I HATE it, and I try to stop, but it's so hard.

I wish on 11:11 and 12:34.

I blow the dandilion things and wish on that... I won't tell anyone my wishes.

I avoid cracks but not at all costs.

And I cross my fingers.

THat's pretty much the extend to which my superstion goes

Don't think I do anything special but I probably do. I don't walk under or very close to ladders. But I call that common sense. I'm clumsy. 😉

I try taking every chance I get to have keys on a table as soon as someone else is around. Some freak out badly. I'm also a master of jinxing things.

I don't believe in superstitions. I do knock on wood sometimes, or throw salt over my shoulder if I spill it, but mostly just as a little joke. LOL I have never given in to the hype about black cats, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors, etc. though.

I don't really believe in superstition but I think I do some things out of habit like:

Always cross my fingers...NEVER WORKS!

Knock on wood. Mostly just when my dad is like: " Oh the pats are gunna win this." And I'm like WTH DAD! Now I gotta go find some wood.

But I have nothing against black cats.

er, and it gets a bit old after a while.

Salute a magpie? Huh? Like this?

😀

I'm Irish, so I was pretty much born to be superstitious. I don't think I actively am but I will salute a magpie if I see just one. I'll knock on wood. Umbrella up in the house is a no-go. Put your you shoes on the table and bad luck is yours. If a baby is being born into a house you don't tempt fate by buying furniture and clothes before they are born (I think that is a specifically Irish thing).

But yeah, I do it all. Kraazzzy Kean 😛

I also do all the above! Not to mention not walking under signposts and ladders. I broke 2 mirrors last year and am now convinced that I'm gonna have 14 years bad luck!

Why do you salute a magpie when you see it? I'd also never heard the shoes on the table thing...I mean shoes on the table is just yucky--no feet where you eat! Do you not do baby showers in Ireland then?

I thought of another thing I do that's sort of superstitious. I have songs and artists that give me good luck. What they actually do is put me in a good mood and calm me, but they give me luck too.

I'm not superstitious, really, but I do the not-putting-an-umbrella-up-inside thing. And I don't walk under ladders. Not sure why I do those things, because I don't really believe anything bad would happen if I did. I guess it just got ingrained into me.
