A Texas man who allegedly shot and injured several women drivers has been accused of targeting them because he believes only men should be allowed to get behind the wheel.

According to the Star-Telegram, Katy resident Nicholas Dagostino, 29, has been hit with charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in two recent separate incidents, in which he allegedly shot women drivers. Dagostino spent six weeks behind bars after allegedly shooting a 39-year-old woman driving in Katy in July; he posted bond last Tuesday, but was arrested on Thursday for allegedly shooting another woman driver in the arm as she left a gas station in Katy in March.

Police say Dagostino has confessed to shooting as many as five women drivers in the area, and that he specifically targets women because he doesn’t believe they should be permitted to drive. According to a local ABC News affiliate, court documents say Dagostino wrote a number of Facebook posts in which he reportedly “rants and rambles on about female motorists and how incompetent they are and that their sole purpose is to give birth to male children.”

“It’s unspeakable, unspeakable,” the unnamed husband of the most recent shooting victim told ABC News. “Evil and very scary. It’s worst case scenario, as far as danger to the entire community.”

Dagostino’s new bond has been set at $400,000 for two charges of aggravated assault with a weapon. Investigators say the bond is specifically high because he “presents a continuing threat to the community and in particular, to female motorists in Katy.” His attorney told reporters Dagostino’s family is “very, very sorry for any problems or pain this has caused anyone.” Per criminal complaints, Dagostino claims he shot the two women in self defense.

No one ever told him the sperm determine the X or Y chromosome?

Why isn't he being charged with attempted murder?

Wow, ranting and raving is one thing. Scream in your car, like everyone else. But when you start shooting people... maybe it is time for less "we're very, very sorry" and time for urgent mental help.

He should've moved to Saudi Arabia a couple of years ago, but too late now, women drivers everywhere!

He wasn't trying to murder them. Can't be charged with attempted murder if you dont... you know... attempt to murder.
Someone else said he should be charged with manslaughter. LOL Seriously. El Oh El. Manslaughter. I wanted to tell her why they couldn't be charged with manslaughter but was afraid I'd be mansplaining to her.

Yeah, randomly shooting people while driving could kill them though. But yeah, I guess he wasn't necessarily trying to kill them....that we know of.

And some of them weren't even driving. Not to be overly morose, but I am sure if he wanted to kill them he could have done so.

Yeah. He could have just as easily killed someone too, but yeah, you're right.
At least he should be going away for a long time given how harsh Texas typically is on violent criminals, and given his lack of impulse control, I'd say there's a fair chance he won't survive his sentence. Once out, he should find it very difficult to get a new license.

There's plenty of negatives I could look at, but I'll just look at the fact that he is almost certainly going away for a long time without anyone having been seriously harmed (yeah, I realize he shot a woman in the arm but it didn't sound too bad...Texas is also big on restitution to victims so he may be forced to cover her medical expenses or face an even longer sentence).

I have a perfect driving record. On the other hand, the drunk driver who blindsided me a few years ago was male. It was his 3rd DUI & 2nd crash while intoxicated. It sent 3 people (me, him , and his soon to be ex girlfriend) to the hospital. He's now on a several years long all expense paid vacation in orange jammies. Just saying. 😉

The oldies had a crash today. I was on my way back in to town and saw the flashing lights of a recent crash. Not entirely sure cos I didnt snoop much, but it looked like both cars had been driving towards each other too close to the middle of the road on 110km/hr stretch and met in the middle. Smooshed in the sides, one lost a wheel. A third car rear ended the first. A forth car was able to leave off the gravel shoulder as I went passed. A fifth car was in the bushes but no visible damage. All local overweight baptist women aged over 65 in flowy cloths. One was getting a wheelchair out of the boot of the elderly ladies car... its wednesday, seniors can get the special bus free on wednesday.

The dude in the article doesnt have to shoot women. Eventually we take each other out. Just sayin'

So maybe that's why I'm still learning and don't have my license yet...

Nice One !

You meet all kinds of dysfunctional people in America these days. They crawl out of every dark crevice and corner. I've been saying for years that American culture is fundamentally pathological, which is regardless of one's politics. In a way, we all suffer from the American pathology, and we all possess some degree of dysfunction as a consequence. Many of us resort to dwelling on our problems in our own dark, isolated places, where are problems don't find resolution but rather compound and get worse over time. Believe me, these types of stories never surprise me anymore. If it happened in Europe I might be surprised, but not here.

More on the story:

After the July arrest, he had told authorities that he had shot the woman in July out of “self-defense” because she had “swerved twice into his lane,” according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Thursday arrest was in connection to a March incident just a few miles away in Katy, Texas. The woman told authorities she was leaving a Shell gas station when she heard a noise and felt an intense pain in her right arm. She looked around and saw a man “looking at her as he drove by,” apparently “looking to see if he had hit her.” Again, D’Agostino told authorities that he was acting in self-defense, making the argument that the woman had intentionally “swerved at him” and that he fired the gun “to stop what he perceived as a threat.”

That's some good lawyering there! Oh, it was just self defense.

I wanted to shoot at a driver once (to ideally shoot through his back window), and I'm glad I didn't actually have a gun so I'd have been tempted. I was 17 and crossing the street at a crosswalk. This guy drives up in a truck and stares down an EMPTY 1-way street (opposite of me) and then turns. I was forced to jump to not be hit, and the grocery bags I was carrying all got busted. He shouted "Sorry" out his window as he kept going. To this day I cannot fathom why someone would stare down an empty street rather than the actual direction he was turning into. 😡😵

Well there are dumber moments, but those were self-aware. My cousin once drove recklessly over thin farm roads at a reckless speed...if another vehicle was coming there'd almost certainly be a wreck, and every few years there was (often with fatalities because it's often stupid teens driving recklessly that crash into each other at high speed). Most avoided that street for that reason and he was lucky (including me when he raced through it at 17 while I at age 13 sat in the passenger seat).

Though it's not just kids. I once jokingly dared a guy who was practically a senior citizen to make the turn he was about to without slowing down...and he did. I will never dare a driver to do anything stupid ever again. 😱

Eh, this is just an early morning, pre-breakfast ramble. I'm not saying men are worse drivers than women. I could share about idiot women drivers as well (one I think should not have had a license, and also believed she should not have been a nurse because there was something very wrong with her and I'd be very afraid if she was my nurse), and idiot pedestrians and bicyclists of both (all?) genders as well.

Oh! I can share that I was surprised my BFF managed to be a good driver even while texting. I protested against her texting while driving down the highway and she told me she had to as it was her boyfriend. I already knew he was an insecure man-baby with strong control freak tendencies, but even I was shocked that he'd placed some tracking software on her phone that told him where she (that is her phone) was at and wanted to know why she was leaving the recycling center, and that he got very upset if she didn't reply to his texts immediately. I demanded the phone so I could tell him that such trivial questions can damn well wait when he KNOWS she's on the highway and if he was hoping to get her killed (showing he loved her a lot less than I did), but she wouldn't let me. I was so glad when she broke up with him later for many reasons, the biggest was that he could no longer pressure her into replying instantly to all his idiot texts (and she doesn't text and drive anymore that I'm aware of).

Just thought I'd add that this man "shooting at women in self-defense" beats all my stories of crazy and idiot drivers, and all those I ever heard of from others (and offhand I can think of only one bad driver story I read of in the news that exceeds that man).

And I'm not surprised that he never reported this "self-defense" to the police when it happened (reporting the attempted violent crime and/or reckless behavior against him in the process) because he knows it wasn't self-defense.

I wonder what the guy would say about women who use guns.
Would he dare argue with one who drove in the 'wrong' lane. Did the dippo think she was out to get him?

Women often drive less competently for the same reason men cause more and generally worse accidents. Women are more timid as a whole and take fewer chances. Men develop overconfidence and spatial judgments from daring to do things that necessitate that motor control (including sports) their over confidence often results in dangerous actions on the road.

Women's timidity results in fearful overreaction, panic and doing less than sensible things as a result.

Years ago i worked in a garden center with an awkward parking lot. I watched a lot of idiotc female drivers in oversized SUVs attempt to park.

Yet the best car parker I ever knew was my mum. If the space was just slightly bigger than the car, she could park it.

All that proves is that individuals are not caricatures.

As for shooting? The man should get attempted murder.
