So - Deal or No Deal Island? Yay or Nay?

I heard the title before and thought it would be dumb, but then I saw on tweeter that our Survivor Golden God is on it! And then tenplay threw s1 in my face, so now I am watching s1, with no idea what I am in for. Aussie Deal or no deal is pretty boring, so I will be interested to see how that works on an island?

I haven't watched it, but the one time I watched the original show (no island), I thought it was pretty boring. Not sure if the island adds more excitement.

I was surprised to see Amber from Survivor in an ad for it, though. Shouldn't players be people who aren't already rich? Why would we root for a millionaire?

Its just a bit weird. I will get used to the format, but it does feel like forcing deal or no deal into an island reality competition show. I guess they had a lot of excess suitcases to use. Entertaining enough for me, but Im not a superfan...yet. Huge prize money. None of our Australian versions of anything offer that much prize money (even Survivor is like $500,000).

Boston Rob is in season 1. I don't know any of the other cast, but some are obviously known in the US and others seem to be normies. It does bring drama, having some hard core experienced reality tv cast against completely naive people and those who are big competition reality fans.

I sorta love return players, I know I am entertained by them, so I will watch. Survivors are old school, not those types who go on making social media their entire goal in life (👀MAFS), it happened organically. Rob is looking good. If this is their job now, then I can get behind them. I enjoyed seeing survivor alum on the Traitors as well.

Im not sure when s2 will be on tenplay for me. David/Golden God has won Australian survivor before too. I was stoked to see the ad with him, and probably wouldn't have started watching if I didn't know he is coming on a later season. He has been trying to launch a TV career, so I am happy for him cos he is the sort of host I like to see on my tv... for quite obvious reasons.

S2 Deal or No Deal Island is already better than the first season and I am less than 10 minutes in. David is bringing the entertainment. I hope it doesnt mean he is out too early! It looks like we get one episode a week, but Im not sure how far behind the US we are for it.

The first two episodes aired last night. I meant to watch a little to see what it was like, but forgot.

Not sure, we still have Im a Celeb to get through yet. That has been running short the last few years, depends who drops out haha.
My guess is about mid feb.

Any news on the survivor AU vs the world series? I havent seen a thing 🙁

Im still enjoying Deal or no Deal Island. David and Parviti are a fun team. I wonder when they will turn on each other.

Monday February 17th 😀 The ads have started.

Im a celeb is a staple for me. Its got me through three house moves and times when I was stuck on rice and beans for lunch too. I love seeing them chuck a sad when they get hungry and tired. Makes me feel human. Robert Irwin is doing a great job as host, he had such big shoes to fill and has smashed it.

Lots of reality show peeps this year, few I know. Big Brothers Reggie will either win it, or lose because everyone thinks she'll win it and not vote enough for her. Fun to see Nicky Buckly, a blast from the past. Dave Hughes isnt as annoying as I expected him to be. He's actually been pretty funny, joking about giving babies phenergan. I duno who the tiktok kid is but he is entertaining so far, fainting on the first challenge.

They didnt bother putting a celebrity chef in this year and gave them fish heads to work with for dinner.
Its not quality reality but its fun and dumb and I can get on board.
 
Hahahaha The Traitors US S3 is great entertainment. "The only people I want to murder right now is you two!" Carolyn is fantastic. And shes not threatened by Boston Rob at all, which is fabulous. Loving this season. US traitors is one of the best. Getting better as the show goes on too, there is definitely more strategy.

Im scared for AU Survivor. MAFS (married at first sight) is going to smash it in the ratings if it keeps going as it is. It sucks its up against it. I wish international interest counted! I dont want to lose channel 10 but its not looking good for the channel.
 
Oh I am loving this season of DONDI right now. Not so much the game as much as I am loving the characters. They are all there to play and its so much fun to watch in real time! Dr Will is hilarious, I want to see if I can find whatever else he was on - he really puts a spanner in the works, fun villainous gameplay. David is losing his aussie accent a bit being surrounded by them all.

Myles looks like he'll be a hoot. Zen is the eye candy.
These drone shots are going to make it an even more spectacular show to watch.

Oooh thats a big change to US - fire lit and waiting for them. As long as they keep it going. I like that.
Dont want your hands ripped up on the first day, this is a harsher challenge than it seems.
JLP is missing so many commentary chances here, maybe they told him to tone it down- channel 10 is trying to be the "family friendly" option in competition to MAFS this year.

@Cohen are you watching AU? The first week has been a masterclass in how not to play haha. Still entertaining and great challenges! Low budget rewards so far, but they play just as hard.

Im still watching MAFS on catch up and Teejay from Big Brother is on it! Hes quite a good actor, I hope he gets ongoing work cos he obviously wants to be working the reality space.
 
Omg I need to watch. I’m about to go find the episodes. I’ve had a busy last few weeks. We’ve been watching Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing, but almost finished so we will need a new show.

I was just telling someone over the weekend how AU Survivor is 1000x better than US Survivor.

Update: I have the episodes queued up and also found that The Apprentice UK is back, so I will be watching those too!!

I saw MAFS is like 20 episodes? Is it good? I read an article that Teejay had dated one of the other brides???

MAFS is trashy as. Its extremely popular here, so there is a lot to chat on but its very obviously scripted. The first week was great to hate. Two men who were just awful humans and the internet pile up was entertaining. Its a bit repetitive but easy to watch and funny at times. I didnt know teejay had dated one of the others but not surprised! There are at least a few who run in the same circles. I dont buy him being in love with his wife, but he plays the part well.

I love naked and afraid! But only seen a few eps. Its a bit more hardcore than survivor, so I'd never want to do it haha. They often have aussies on it!

If I remember correctly, the ex wife of one of the Naked and Afraid contestants won Alone Australia. The US version of Alone is miles ahead of ours, but we are very different cultures, in that, few are allowed to hunt here. Our climate is just not made for a show like that. Hence s2 being held in New Zealand instead!

I think we’re going to start Australian Survivor tonight! I’ll let you know!!


Hunting is definitely different between the two countries! I’m impressed by the aussies on NaA!
 
AU came to PLAY! I duno if they came to play well, but they did come to play. Great episode 😀
Sad now til Sunday. Or at least Friday when I can get the next ep of 48.
