has anyone here had any experience with or know anyone who owns one of the little super cheap, super efficient Indian automobiles? I'm toying with the idea of buying one, and I'd like some first, or even second hand experience to draw on.

Do you mean the Tata Nano?

BBC NEWS | Business | World's cheapest car goes on show

From reading the above BBC News article it seems that it will only be available in India at the moment but "Tata hopes to eventually export the car".

The only Tata vehicle I can find available in the UK (and I appreciate that is not very helpful to you in the US 🙂) is the Safari 4x4, which gets terrible reviews, for example -

- which might give you some idea as to how good their other cars are (or not 🙂)

Yeah. I know it's not here yet, but for $2500 and 65 MPG, it's practically a disposable car. If it ever gets here, I'm just gonna HAVE to check it out. That kinda gas savings would pay for the car in a year.
