Okay...I know I am asking tons of questions, but its hard not to since I found this place! Anyhoo....Why are the vampires able to get into the magic shop on Tabula Rosa! I noticed this also in the episode where Spike returns in Season Three, he enters through the back door and kills the cashier. Does this only go for someone's home?
 
The magic shop is a public building. Vampires only need to be invited across the threshold of a home, and then only by the resident of the home. Guests can't invite a vampire into someone else's home, and once the residents are dead or permanently relocated (as in abandoned homes), no invite is required until a new resident moves in. Hotel and motel rooms are a gray area, but I think that unless someone has established a permanent residence there (as when Faith moved into the motel room, or Fred had her own room at the Hyperion), an invite is once more required. Long story short, a vampire requires an initial invitation into a home, whatever the residents define as such, whether castle, shack, or hole in the ground.
 
One little thing. What about school. I know the vamps in School Hard had to be invited in. Yet Angel got a free pass because of the schools motto
 
Schools just don't fit in with anything else, and there is no consistency with them. In the original movie, the vampires couldn't come into the gym until they were invited. When Angel got in to kill Jenny, he claimed to be invited in by the school motto (that would seem to mean that a "welcome" mat placed outside the door would be an invitation for vampires to enter) Spike and his gang needed no invitation (but then, that was the same school with the same motto that allowed Angelus to come in, so...). I think that the invitation thing was sort of a convenient plot element when the writers wanted to use it, but was ignored when it got in the way of the story.
 
Schools are public forums. Vamps would not need an invite to get into the school.

I think that when Jenny asked Angelus how he got in to the school, it was meaning how did he get in when the doors were locked and such. He just used the latin saying as a witty play on words.

For one thing, Angel had already entered the school on many occasions before that night, so even if he had required an invite he already had it. Secondly, the school is a public building and so any vamp can enter freely (as a whole bunch of them had done in School Hard earlier that year). Angel was just being sarcastic when he spoke about the school motto to Jenny.
