The Dollhouse star has been cast in the new MK web-series made by Maurissa Tancharoen's brother. He'll play Lieutenant Stryker alongside Jeri Ryan as Sonya.

It's rare that you find a competitor who brings a gun to a Mortal Kombat tournament, but Kurtis Stryker is just that kind of guy. As it turns out, the MK character – first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3 – will be part of Warner Bros.' new Mortal Kombat digital series, and IGN has the exclusive on who's playing him.

Tahmoh Penikett, best known for his role as Helo on Battlestar Galactica, is taking on the role of the police officer character, referred to here as Lieutenant Stryker. Penikett, seen more recently in Dollhouse, joins a cast that includes Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya and Darren Shahlavi as Kano.

Thanks for sharing Lyr, great to hear he's got a new role! Doesn't sound like "my kind" of show, but I'll still definitely tune in to see him 🙂

I used to LOVE MK, both the game and the movies, so this is something I'm definitely interested in. Plus, Tahmoh AND Jeri Ryan? OH YEAH, I'm so there, lol

Not sure if anyone was looking for this, but it has actually been released! Here's a short article about it, with a link that'll take you to the YouTube video as well

(*although it's rated TV-MA, for Mature Audiences only! so warning!*)

The first episode of the nine-part Mortal Kombat web series is now available for your viewing pleasure. Clocking in at just under 13 minutes, the first slither of Mortal Kombat: Legacy already looks more promising than the previous two live-action efforts put to film put together. (At least if you're looking for a more serious approach to the universe.)

Mortal Kombat: Legacy stars Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica) as Stryker, Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyager) as Sonya Blade, and Michael Jai White (Spawn) as Jackson Briggs. The series is being directed by Kevin Tancharoen, boss of such thrilling epics as The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll and Britney Spears Live from Miami. The series spawned from a film pitch video released by Tancharoen during the summer of 2010.

The WB-produced series is meant to whet the appetite of gamers who are anticipating the Mortal Kombat series' M-Rated debut on current generation consoles. Mortal Kombat from NetherRealm Studios launches on April 19.
