Has anyone noticed that many of the romances featured in both BtVS and AtS, either seemed tainted during a certain point of the relationship? Or doomed? I can just name a . . . well, many:

Buffy and Angel - late Season 2/Season 3/late Season 4 (BtVS)
Season 1 (AtS)

Buffy and Spike - Season 6 (BtVS)

Buffy and Riley - 1st half of Season 5 (BtVS)

Willow and Oz - mid-Season 3/early Season 4 (BtVS)

Willow and Tara - Season 6 (BtVS)

Willow and Xander - mid-Season 3 (BtVS)

Xander and Cordelia - late Season 2/mid-Season 3 (BtVS)

Xander and Anya - late Season 6/Season 7 (BtVS)

Spike and Drusilla - late Season 2 (BtVS)

Giles and Jenny - late Season 2 (BtVS)

Angel and Darla - Season 2/early Season 3 (AtS)

Angel and Cordelia - Season 3 and 4 (AtS)

Cordelia and Connor - (Season 4 (AtS)

Wesley and Fred - early Season 3 (AtS)

Gunn and Fred - Season 4 (AtS)

Wesley and Lilah - late Season 3/Season 4 (AtS)

From what I have gathered, Willow and Kennedy seemed to have been the only couple to remain together . . . at least by the end of BtVS.

Thats one of the things Joss Whedon does on purpose...I think. I guess most fo them are just cool ideas, and then everyone has to break up or its no fun. We don;t want another 7th Heaven. Its what makes the 2 shows unique!

Well as you can see The Main charecters relation ships last close to 2-3 years, Kennedy and Willow only dated for half a season unlike Willow/Tara/Oz or Buffy/Angel. They all knew each other better then Kennedy and Willow knew each other.

I agree with what Joss says; if everything is peachy, there's not alot of interest there, it's more interesting if there is conflict and disruption, there always has to be conflict.

Right on, Kindred. Unfortunatley, happy people are boring.

Plus, if all those relationships were perfect there'd be so much syrupy-sweet lovey-dovey action that we'd all be vomiting out our eyeballs.

On a side note, CURSE YOU LadyLavinia!!! Tainted love is stuck in my head now. *Sometimes I feel I've got to <BONK BONK> run away...*

Well, taking Joss opinion about relationships into account, off course it's true!
