If you had the opportunity to change one single thing; either change a rule or undo an event in the Buffyverse, what would it be?

Giles' character in Season 7. It wasn't Giles. It was an impostor. He was more Giles-like in Season 8 for Christ's sake! I would take out that stupid gimmick story line about him possibly being the First, because so much was put into that twist, that eventually came to nothing, that any character development or even character truth was sacrificed.

yes! i agree completely.

Totally agree. That twist required him to be cold and distant, which wasn't Giles.

Probably Dawn. The character's storyline was there with her in season 5. But after that she's useless. Having a character as a regular that will have a complete storyline for just one season is really useless.

Do you think she should have been the one to die in The Gift?

For me, it'd be AtS season 4 Cordy. Or at least I would have it changed so that she definitely came back in season 5. Not only would she have been there (I missed her so much!), but she would have had to deal with the aftermath of her actions while possessed by Jasmine in season 4.

It can go either way. Because with Buffy dying it was the perfect ending (even for the show). If it was Dawn who died that wouldn't have the same effect. So considering all that, maybe having Dawn on the show wasn't a good idea at all, not even in season 5, as much as I loved season 5. Why bring a character that on their first season would be the center with a long plot and on later seasons they become useless? THAT sounds useless to me.

It's still the Bad Hair Dude returning from Acathla's hell. If I could make it happen, "Becoming" would be the last time we saw him outisde of a flashback or fantasy - he'd have been really most sincerely dead when sucked through the portal.

Have Buffy stay dead. Five seasons was enough and the story had achieved a perfect end that it deserved. Not to mention there was the added bonus of all character's integrity still being firmly intact.

I would have made it that Wesley never tried to kidnap Faith and take her to the Counsel. That way Angel could have helped her and she would have gotten the help she needed.

Darla's pregnancy and then Connor. Also the way the show Angel started to have season Big Bads, I prefer the early seasons where it was more about them and the mission.

Instead of Spike being allowed to escape in Lovers Walk, him and Angel would somehow mange to stake each other. And i would do the dance of joy.

LOL Despite not agreeing with that, it still fills like a breath of fresh air after all the Bangel and Spuffy bickering. :D
Xander doing the spell in OMWF. It was out of character and a really bad move by the writers. Couldn't Xander have said "That amulet? I accidentally dropped it into this liquid at the Magix Shop. Ops...". They could have kept the Queen joke without screwing the character.

as was said before, giles in season 7. giles and spike were always tied for my favourite character, and i couldn't BELIEVE what they did to giles in season 7. it kind of destroyed him for me. and i love giles.

also, i hate that spike came back on angel season 5 and never told buffy. i hate that they never got a chance.

(i don't read the comics so i don't know if any of this changes or anything)

Totally agree about Giles. It breaks my heart what they did to him in s7.

For the verse - Cordelia's demise

just BtVS - Kennedy (that was disrespectful and a slap in the face to Willow, Oz and Tara fans and a horrible disrespect to Tara's recent death).

Hard to choose between what they did to Giles in season 7, and Giles leaving in season 6. Maybe if he hadn't left, they wouldn't have butchered his character in season 7, so I'll go with Giles leaving. I would have had him stay.

That would have been awesome. I wonder how Season 6 would have played out with Giles there? I reckon it would have been COMPLETELY different. I might make a thread...

Agree with you and Mithol about Giles, man was different after that.
The way Giles left in S6. It was horribly upsetting to see him just abandoning his de facto daughter so soon after her mother's death and after he had just learned Buffy herself was pulled from heaven. Telling her she should just grow up and that she has to deal with her problems - including having to raise her sister which she really does need help from someone with more life experience than her with - alone was really cold.

Also, all that Buffy/Angel back and forth after S2/S3. He was her first love, which is totally fine. But it is possible to get over that and move on. I'm so sick and tired over fictional people being destined to be with their high school sweetheart forever and ever. (Another huge offender being Harry Potter and friends. Blargh.)

I know I'm totally alone, but minus Glory from Season 5 or at least get a different actress to play her. I could understand what they were going for but it didn't translate to me at all.

Oz leaving would be my pick... I wish he and Willow would have worked it out and he would have stayed.

Oz karma. That was so hard on me when it happened. I almost didn't want to keep watching the show.

one of the only episodes that makes me cry is "new moon rising" when he comes back and leaves again. oh my god, that scene in the van is horribly sad.
