Tara coming back

I remember reading somewhere that Joss had planned to bring Tara back, have Buffy make a wish to bring her back, for Willow. How do you think that would've turned out? What if she was brought back when Kennedy started to take such an interest in Willow?
 
Well, I'm a big Willow/Tara shipper, I love both Tara the character and Amber the person, so my opinion is massively biased as to say if she'd come back and played a larger role in Season 7 it would have been much better for Willow.

She would have had to compromise, Willow had to use her power, and it would have been a large step for them to take, Tara having to put aside her fear of Willow abusing the magic and instead being her "anchor". Willow to deal with Tara being back but not being distracted, and trying to reconcile things with Kennedy.

One major advantage would have been Willow and Tara had already got a lot of storyline material over with, no long explanations, Kennedy needed too much back story. Reducing her to a secondary role like the other Potentials and just having the old W/T dynamic would have taken up less time.

A chance for Tara to grow, even beyond the strong indepedent woman we saw in Season 6, but a chance for her to really prove herself and aid the gang magically when Willow couldn't have. What if she had been their mystical protection from the Turok Han? or both her and Willow used the Scythe?

This would have happened after "Conversations with Dead People" and "The Killer in Me" so if Tara had been watching over her, it would have been a nice way to show Tara's reaction to those situations.

People say she was more boring and played a smaller role? well if she'd been brought back in Season 7 and fought with the gang, I'd say that opinion would be very different right now 😉
 
It might also have been a nice way (in universe) to show why The First couldn't take her form, that TPTB had already foreseen her return and that somehow prevented her form being used.

I'd have just loved to see Tara being bitchy to Kennedy and chasing her off, Tara making little sarcastic remarks to Willow, just jokingly about the relationship.

All the makeout/steamy scenes would have been W/T...

There would also be blame. Once Tara knew it was Willow's spell that caused the damage, well that would have been a real problem between them. But as I said before it would have been good drama all round watching the two of them putting those personal feelings aside, moving on and using their time together to make things better.

It would have been tough for Dawn, Buffy would want anyone with power to stay and fight, so Xander would still have been the one to take Dawn away, but it would have been harder on Dawn having Tara back only for Buffy to try and separate them again. That could have had nastier consequences in Season 8.

Hmm, again I think I typed too much 😛
 
Oh definitely, Tara putting Kennedy in her place would have been the highlight of Season 7 for me haha. You could even mirror Kennedy's arrival when she talked down to Buffy 😀

Kennedy "Hey, what was all the commotion upsta..."
*Tara walks up behind Willow, looking at Kennedy* "This the best you could do?" *walks on past*
 
Once Tara was back? simple. Her and Willow in their old bedroom, everyone else downstairs complaining about the noise:lmao:
 
The way I read the situation was that Kennedy was brought in AFTER it had been decided that Amber couldn't make it back.

Willow would still have had the struggle until maybe the third to last episode and then it would have ended with Tara.

I also think that we could have taken Kennedy out anyway(without Tara) and have Dawn be the character that was her anchor - could have been better.

Do you mean as a love interest or just as that little sister thing?

And whaddya mean Amber is the cause of Kennedy? I'm giving Amber another prize lol. Because Kennedy was cool...does no one agree?!!!

NEVER as a love interest, as the person to have complete trust and faith in Willow that would give her the strength to do the magics.

It would have given Dawn a purpose in the season.

Also, Kennedy was OK but she wasn't great.

She could have been had she been allowed to grow what we saw of her was an annoying brat that really bugged me without any redeeming features.

Also, I know that she was supposed to be bratty but you can still write her interesting.

That could have definitely worked for Dawn. After all, she is like a little sister to Willow and who better to help you through the tough than family?
 
I think if Tara had been brought back, Kennedy never would have been an issue. Certainly, the character would have been there, but I doubt that she'd have played such a role.

And I think there was still plenty to see in their relationship, above and beyond Season 7. Like, would they make it as a couple in the 'demon-free' world, had that happened? Would they have gone to Cleveland together, bought an apartment, another kitty (Not that I recall Ms. Kitty Fantastico ever dying!) and had a real, genuine shot at being together?

Would they have left magic behind entirely?

Faced issues from their past? Perhaps even the return of Oz? (I always liked him... he should have partnered up with Xander! :lmao🙂

I just felt cheated, to be honest, when Tara died. And I think it was the worst story-line Joss ever created. I mean, of all the things to do! Not to jump up and down on my soap box, but I feel that Tara & Willow were one of the best lesbian couples on mainstream television. They had their issues, they dealt with them as realistically as one could deal with one's partner being too far gone into magic... and they survived. AND THEN TARA GOT SHOT! PFT!

I am actually glad that tara didnt come back. Im not as articulate as most on the borads but I hope I can still get my point across!
Wouldnt it have been unfair to bring tara back? If she was in heaven (As I think she defiatly would have been) why would she want to come back? As much as they loved her it is selfish as much as it was with buffy, The difference being that the gang didnt know where buffy was but since tara died a 'natural death' wouldnt she have moved on to a pleasent resting place? What does everyone else think? Do you think the story would have been better if she was left to rest in peace or if she had returned and gone through the simular depression that buffy had in season 6?
I personally rekon that it was time for her to move on and even though I didnt particularly like kennedy I preferred her to bringing tara back.
If the gunshot death scene never happened then Willow would never have gone mental and lernt to control her powers to then use them for the spell in Chosen.
 
That's a really good point, Aussie. I have to wonder if Tara's death though, was just untimely, and wrong. Tara certainly might have gone onto a better place, but what's not to say her soul remained, haunted by the fact that she was cheated by an early death?

Yeah, but the first could turn into Buffy although she was back to life, so it probably could've taken Tara's form as well.

And I'm glad Tara never came back, I actually liked Kennedy better. No idea why so many of you hate her.
 
I think for me it's because she was taking Tara's place, in a sense. Although Willow was seemingly ready (after a bumpy-Warren-ride), I just always felt that Willow always belonged to Tara, and vice versa, and no one else.
 
I at times found kennedy to be a bit bratty at times, but I didnt hate her. Sometimes I felt as if she was too young and immature for willow, willow had grown up so much over the years and I never felt as though willow and kennedy could have a long term serious relationship. When willow and tara where together I felt as if it was real and they would be together forever if not for taras death.
But I do think that taras death was an important arc in the series and was 'needed' for lack of a better word. I remember the first time I saw the scene and it shocked me into feeling stronger emotions about the whole series instead of just feeling like a tv show (just one of the many important scenes). I appriciated that we as the audience were given a chance to connect like that. If tara returned I would have felt somewhat cheated...
 
It took a long time before I was willing to admit that Tara's death was needed for the series, Aussie! And you're spot on with what I think about Kennedy. Very young and totally inexperienced compared to Willow. Kennedy struck me more like someone who had a high-school crush...
