Tara vs Kennedy

and eponinethen did i ever blame kennedy for liking willow NO!!! who doesn't like willow come on she is hot!!!!!

i just don't like kennedy big deal i voiced my opinion. the realationship didnt really have time to evolve it was crunched in to a couple episode u cant see if she really was a good fun character.

Never said you blamed her, was just expressing my opinion, just like you did. Wasn't arguing against you. It took me four times of watching season 7 to accept Kennedy/Willow.

I think there are two reasons people have problems with people disliking Kennedy:
1) Anti-Kennedys often complaing about all these things about her pushing Willow, Willow moving on too quickly, etc. Which doesn't really make sense. I'm glad you admit that you just don't like the character, that's very understandable 😉
2) Sooo many people dislike Kennedy, there are few fans who actually like, it's a bit like with Connor.. or Dawn.. or Riley.. it's more interesting to try to like these characters, than to dislike them.

(Not saying these are reasons to like Kennedy.. just.. thinking out loud.. heh 😉 )

OK, well you lot have argued the hell out of this question, so I can't see any of my points being that good, but I will give my opinion, seeing as this is what it's for.
I think that every character on the show has good points and bad points. However some people's bad points overshadow the good, and I believe that that is what happened with Kennedy's character. That, and the fact that we only had one season to get to know her in. Maybe, after a couple of seasons we would have grown to like her for her sassy, confident personality. But because we only had one, I found those traits startling and irritating. She was good for helping with the Scoobies, and she gave Willow support in her healing after Tara's loss and her magic overload, but apart from that, I just found her bossy.
Also, I don't think the chemistry between them went on long enough, in a few episodes they were together, whereas Oz and Tara were carried on for longer before Willow went out with them.
And I just think that Tara's character was subtler.

Total agreeing with some points u made Araminta Tyler ... I ididnt hate Kennedy it is just i couldnt relate to her and only had one season to get to know her, though i cant see myself being friends with someone like that doesnt mean i hate them and hate is such a stong word!

Good points. For my part I don't have a strong opinion on this Willow/Tara v. Willow/Kennedy business-but I do agree that Willow/Kennedy didn't have much time.

People have a favourite or favourites among the potentials. Kennedy might be mine. She is bossy, ambitious, pushy but I think all of her traits make her the most distinctive one in the group. Not necessarily the most likeable. It's interesting how she muscles her way into a first among equals position among the group, which I suspect is something she would have done with or without having a relationship with Willow.

Tara developed friendships with Buffy and with Dawn outside of her tie to Willow. During the time Buffy was dead it seemed she drew close to Dawn. Remember the scene during her breakup with Willow where she takes Dawn out for a (really big) milkshake-that sort of thing seemed kind of routine for them. I think that Dawn and Tara felt a tie from their both having lost their mothers. Remember how Dawn just stays with Tara's body in the room when she finds her dead, and later when she is trying to reach Willow in Rack's place she cries out "I miss Tara too!" Her appeal fails but it was sincere.

And Buffy-I was really startled by the scene in "Dead Things" where Tara tells her that there was nothing wrong with the resurrection spell. Buffy then confesses to her about her relationship with Spike and then ends up crying like a baby in Tara's lap. It was like "Tara has to be a mom to you too?"

The point of my ramble is that I think Tara and Kennedy are interesting characters in their own right-independent of their relationship with Willow. Very different from each other but each interesting in her own way.

i agree with all those points there wasn't enough time to see the couple it really just was hi im kennedy , hi im willow - lets be girlfriends. plus the radical change from a personality like tara who was king and motherly to some one like kennedy.

another rambling thought is that also kennedy came right after tara. which is sort of what happened to some ppl about buffy/riley after angel.

I think they were just showing that they weren't going to give Willow as sweet silent type lover again.

Oz & Tara: Silent, not much with the scoobies

Kennedy: Yes she was bossy, but hey, love comes in all shapes and sizes, and personalities if I might add....

of course no one acts the same that would be weird but hey even tho tara and oz were silent doesn't mean they weren't much with the scoobies they were very participants of the scoobies if not when they both left the show it wouldn't have impacted that much

Ad yes there are many types of loves i never said there wasn't. And exactly they wanted someone the opposite of tara and of course from shy comes bossy grrr arrg

I didn't say that.

They had big parts with the Scoobies, but not as much. NO one else really could fully get into the Scooby circle.

Buffy, Willow, Xander, and Giles were the circle.

Tara never really got close to anyone besides Willow but Dawn and Buffy on certain issues.

I don't see any problem with her. You can't expect Willow to just give up on relationships altogether, can ya?
Kennedy has a bit of the Faith attitude in her and that makes her fine with me.

As far as comparing Tara to Kennedy...only Willow can do that honestly! For us to do that would be insane.

I think that's an excellent point! Tara made a lot more of an effort to get to know the characters outside of Scooby meetings. It was sweet to see her interacting with Dawn...like when they had little thumb wars, and she made her pancakes. There's also this scene in one of the Season 5 episodes where her and Anya are having a thumb war in the background...and she was there for Buffy when she was scared about Spike.:angel:

On the flip side, Kennedy did not have the chance to be with the gang for three years like Tara did.
Besides, if the two are different personalites...so be it.

Also, Willow and Tara seemed right because both were relatively reserved in their appraoch to life (except for when Willow went bonkers).
Kennedy was the opposite of Willow and that's what makes them good. It's not like you're watching the same traits in two different people.

Do you have the URL for the banner you were using just put it in your sig and all.. the only thing you cant get back is your post count and karma points really... well eventually you'll get it up agian but until then, It sucks cause i've been here since september 2002 and had almost 5,000 posts and all.... but the only thing we can do is post until our levels are back up, The board was probley hacked and someone probley got alil happy with the deleting of stuff and all. Theres nothing we can really do nor nothing Buffy can do, there are too many members for her to keep track of all the post and karma counts and she cant always trust what a member says so she cant really re enstate posts or karma sadly...
