Tara's friend

In season six Tara was seen by Willow with a girl, apparently just a friend But then Tara gave her a quick kiss.... Who was that? friend...girl friend.... if it was a girl friend did Tara break up with her before she got back with Willow....??

Lot's of friends kisses each other...At least girls does. I remember when I was in private school. We kissed each other when we met in the mornings, and went home...The boys were always staring...One time we made a guy fall on his bike because he was distracted XD

Now that friend was there to show that Tara had made friends/acquaintances outside of the Scoobies (and of course that little jealousy scene with Willow), which also neatly showed that she had grown from that very shy, awkward girl we've met in S4 to a more confident person who can meet people and make friends on her own.

I'd say it was more that the Scoobies were (perhaps subconsciously) reluctant to show any interest in Tara's life. She wasn't a real part of the group, no matter how much they claimed otherwise. Tara was only included as far as she was by virtue of her being "Willow's Friend", and later, "Willow's Girlfriend". The Scoobies simply didn't really care all that much about "Willow's Friend's Friend" to ask, and Tara wasn't the type to force anyone's company upon the group. She felt enough of an outsider herself - even after Family - to think it possible to introduce someone new into that dynamic.

The Scoobies were a very self-centred bunch, to be honest. And it's no wonder. They needed to be. They knew things, and having people around who weren't in on the secret would be a dangerous distraction.

I would say, however, that Dawn probably knew, or at least knew of any of Tara's other friends. She wasn't part of the "gang" either, and seemed far closer to Tara than any of the others.

I think she was just a college friend, we all have them, people we know, people we're friends with, she just wasn't in the BTVS in crowd.

I've always kind of thought that. On the one hand they are the outcasts in high school but on the other they occasionally turn a deaf ear to other lonely kids who might want to hang out with them i.e. Jonathan.

I noticed something interesting in "Dead Man's Party." When the zombies crash through Buffy's front door, they grab Oz, but Buffy, Xander, Willow, and Joyce all run upstairs leaving him. Cordelia, however, who is not close to Oz stays behind and helps him (leading to them hiding in the downstairs closet). This may have just been sloppy writing, but I always thought it was interesting that the core Scoobies only looked out for each other in this scene while Cordelia and Oz (who socialized outside of the core Scoobies) were more aware of the danger that other people were in.
