Sky One are about to air this new series on Wednesday at 8:00pm. I'm really looking forward to it. The adverts look really great...it's a shame that its already been cancelled.

Here's an article about the show from TV & Satellite Week:

The Jungle Look

There was a time when Tarzan swung from tree to tree in the African jungle. Not any more though. In Sky One's latest US import, Tarzan leaps from building to building in the bustling metropolis of New York.

Tarzan's creator Edgar Rice Burroughs will no doubt be turning in his grave, but the show's makers maintain that the tale was in need of a make-over. And so, after been raised by apes, Tarzan (played by Australian model Travis Fimmel in his acting debut) is forcibly brought to New York by his wicked uncle Richard Clayton (Mitch Pileggi). Although kept caged, the athletic, fleet footed hero manages to escape and is befriended by NYPD detective Jane (Sarah Wayne Callies) and a will they/won't they relationship unfolds as Tarzan gets caught up in adventures in the concrete jungle.

There will be no yodeling or loincloth for this 21st-Century Tarzan, but the barefooted Ape Man is still a product of his upbringing, says the shows co-executive producer Eric Kripke. 'He has to remain dangerous and capable of savagery,' he says. 'We can't have him be James Bond in a tux.'

This is the summary for the first episode:

NYPD detective Jane Porter's life is turned upside down when a routine case leads her to Tarzan, now living in the urban jungle of New York.

I gave the series a chance on the pilot, and the next few episodes, and it my opinion, it was worse than Birds of Prey.

Travis Fimmel hardly speaks, because he doesn't know english, and can't act, because he is not an actor - he is a model.

The only entertaining part and good part about the show worth watching was Detective Jane. Lucy Lawless, who later joined the cast, was great too. Tarzan (the actor, and I guess, the show) was horrible and was very one-dimensional, and the storylines were so poorly-reminscent (Rip-off! - and a bad one too!) of the late beauty Roswell, that it wasn't interesting to watch at all. This show was basically a rip off of Smallville, pick a hot-model guy and stick him into his own series, (Hey, at least Tom Welling can act!)

If you want to watch a REALLY good scripted series, tune into Everwood, currently the only best-written and every-other- category-possible series out there, next to Angel.

Man... that's mean. That's like saying it's worse than being kicked in the balls... except that watching Birds of Prey was worse than being kicked in the balls. So that's like say that Tarzan was worse than something that's worse than being kicked in the balls. I didn' know something could be that bad.

Like, if it's that bad, and you watched it, and you lived to tell the tale, then you should get a medal or something.

Worse than Birds of Prey... damn.

We won't be watching this when it starts. Firstly, it got cancelled so no point in getting interested if it's not going to finish. Secondly, it looks pretty lame from the trailers (although I can see why ladies might like it😉). Thirdly, it got very poor reviews (see also posts from Groo and Happy). Fourthly, I don't wanna get kicked in the balls🙂

Hmmmm....I liked Birds Of Prey... 🙁

Tarzan was horrible...the acting was terrible and the story line just....repetitive and without momentum are two words that come to mind....I watched this show-and I felt like I wasted my time 🙁

Bull, Birds of Prey was excellent and Tarzan with the formidable cast was also very good. The storyline was updated and plausible. It was an entertaining hour.

Too bad the WB did not give any chances to these shows, but the Surreal Life keeps coming back... uhmmm, stupid much.

Tarzan was alright. I don't know how they could make it into a series though. I mean how many stories can you tell of tarzan and jane. Travis Fimmel, although nice to stare at, was a bad actor. He spoke only a few words in the first few episodes that aired. Overall Tarzan was a bust.

He was in a jungle for the better part of his life, what dialogue did you want him to have ? The problem was not the show, is that the people that hate it don't get it. If you had no human contact from very young age to adult life what words would you be able to say ?

I liked Birds of Prey too 🙁

I didn't like this show to much. I watched it, just because there was nothing else to watch after Charmed was on. When I first saw the previews I said "let's give the show...five weeks before getting canceled."
