So I was watching "End of Days" again recently, and got to wondering . . . where the heck did Dawn get a taser? And why? People in the Buffyverse reject modern weapons unless they're cheating (Warren). They had to know that a taser would do nothing to demons, so why did Dawn have one?

Also, just on a side note to that, one of those little handheld tasers does NOT put out enough voltage to knock someone out. Sting like a mother, but not knock you out. Just saying.

Any thoughts?

Maybe she got one after her unpleasant encounter with that vampire she made out with? As seen in the end of Angel season 3, tasers DO affect vampires.

Yea, I don't see why they would reject a taser really, it's not so much about hating modern weapons as just hating guns. Oh, and remember the bazooka, there wasn't much hating there, if you're not the judge.

Yeah I'm thinking Buffy would have wanted Dawn to carry around something like that for self protection. And she'd probably rather she had a taser than a stake 😉

It was just so out of nowhere. If I'd done that in a story, I would have gotten jumped by continuity Nazis. If she'd batted him over the head with something, it would have been expected, but she just pulled a taser out of nowhere.

Yeah, and you can't get much more modern than a freaking military rocket launcher!

I always found the tazer thing strange too. I mean, how would Dawn know she wanted to carry a tazer at that moment? Did she not trust Xander? A bash in the head would have had the same impact and wouldn't raise so many questions. LOL

The power of the taser was exaggerated, certainly, but no more than the 9-shot pistols the cowboys used to carry when I was a kid. As for rejecting firearms, Wesley always seemed to have a .45 or two handy, as well as a sawed off 12 gauge whenever the occasion warranted. Script writers are seldom weapons experts, anymore than they are martial artists or experts in any other field whose facts and principals they misuse on a regular basis. My advice is, just cringe and enjoy the rest of the show.

I agree with White Avenger.
But if a taser could bring down a vamp why couldnt it bring down xander,
as for dawn, yeah i think it was just something for her to have as defense, or im not sure, but was that xanders car, he did have all the milittary stuff and he could have had the taser there and it just so happened to be next to dawn who took advantage of this
